Great video! You could talk about the strings of beads for counting steps. And maybe a sequel to this one with a, b, c, d. Points marked on a map reproduction....just photo copier and a grease pencil.
Here is our video on how to use ranger beads. th-cam.com/users/shortsohjmqNbRhW4?feature=share We are doing weekly land nav videos on how to, different techniques, show what you learned, and refreshers.
@@jacksonhocutt what do you mean by wrong? Maybe I wasn't able to express myself correct but I'm working with that method for years and it never failed me
@@Jaecht88 stability and the ability to mitigate recoil management as shown in the video but in reality you’re only gonna be shooting at most 3 times standing unsupported before you seek cover so it’s not too big of a deal
Thank you for your Service and the video, Sir. I struggle with math stuff and that isn't good. Im really going to have to learn navigational skills, map reading, etc. Or wander around in circles until I die of starvation or get eaten by a bear.
Your gm angle is relative to the map your using so it won’t always be the same number and you can find out how accurate that might be by the printing date of said map and identify if theirs been any geological magnetic shift(more relevant if your map might be really fucking old)
Sir, I thought you just said you had a wife? How’s going straight not always the best option? Got something to tell us? This is a joke, for those who couldn’t tell. Thanks for the awesome video.
No do not always add that to your azmith. Refer to your map for the PROPER magnetic declination for the region you are in.......come on man. Don't say shit like this if you know it's not that simple
It's also what is used in every branch of the military. The mathematics is also much easier, particularly if you're using UTM or its' fraternal twin MGRS. I will typically convert back to miles when judging movement speed, but the math for that is dead easy. There are Only two feet I use for Land navigation. For interoperability all US civilian search and rescue organizations do likewise.
Ain't planning on being a paratrooper but I bet this'll help me a lot with my outdoor adventures.

@@calculatedsurvival great video, thanks for the link.
Take a thin cord and make knots every mile using the scale for the knots distance.
*ahem* wrong
Pace count my man

Great video! Unfortunately, due to all the tech out there, this is “almost” a lost art.
You are sadly correct. Hoping that some people figure out that they might need it when the tech fails them.

As long as im alive and sandhill exists ft. Benning will always be referred to as Benning Hooah!
Can you please make a review of (schrade I BEAM

That's too funny. We were waiting for someone to make that comment and why we left it in.
It will always be Benning
It pains me that they changed it. I only served at Benning and not at Moore.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
All The Way !!!
Map To Grid
Get Rid
Drink too much, and the navigational skills will probably end up of no use. Which way is north!? Look up, young man. North. 🥳🤗
Siri does a lot
What if Siri is not available?
@@calculatedsurvival I understand, I’m just saying all the back end work that goes into a Siri navigation search is crazy…
Maybe youll find a fitting shift there!

Yes always add or subtract your declination to your azimuth unless you are in a zone that is less than .5 degrees off of magnetic north.
Downvoted becuase you use meters and not feet.
That is what we use in the United States Army and all of maps are based off of tens for simplicity.
