THE #1 best live Rock band on Earth. Just for a moment, forget they're all female and forget they're dressed as maids. Two members (MISA - Bass, Akane - Drums) are classically trained pianists and musicians who studied at the Tokyo Academy of Music while Kanami, the lead guitarist, has also been playing piano since the age of 3 or 4 but is concert standard (almost unbelievably, given her skills, she only switched to guitar about 10 years ago!) They all have superb musical ability as well as passion, a lack of ego and the drive to play real, in your face, Rock which is why they are THE best live Rock band on Earth right now. OK, now that's explained, you can go back and marvel at how cute those outfits look and how incredibly beautiful all the band members are. The only band I've seen that is playing live like bands I went to see in the 70's, such as Led Zeppelin or Sabbath or Zappa. Music they write themselves, real guitars, drums and bass played loudly and with passion as well as powerful Rock vocals. They are all really close friends and know how to have fun together on stage, confident as they are in each others’ abilities and skills. They've revived the classic Rock sound and given the genre a much needed kick in the ass, as Babymetal have done for Metal.
Personally I really feel that their Maid outfits and service philosophy adds a lot to their performances and videos. At this point anyone saying they don't like the outfits just remind me of the song by ADO called USSEEWA specifically the part about mediocre not getting art. Not sayin you said you dislike the dresses of course just don't care for the actual dress haters.
On my second visit to Tokyo in 2016 I went to a little rock club in Shinjuku that held about 50 people max. The fourth band up were an all-girl group who had just come back from their first overseas gig in Seattle and were releasing their new album that week. I bought their album as a souvenir. When I returned permanently to Tokyo almost two years later I was greeted by a building high poster of Miku at Shibuya Crossing as the 'World Domination' album was released. They've done quite well for themselves.... Although Band-Maid were fantastic that night my favourite group on the bill were actually another all-female band called exist†trace (yes, that's the spelling). I guess thirteen years together gave them the edge on showmanship as Band-maid were still finding their feet. I'd recommend dipping into exist†trace, their output has changed hugely over the years. Pandemic related financial difficulties mean I'm not in a position to support and therefore make official requests yet (actually sat staring at my screen earlier this years thinking "Babymetal at Budokan tickets or rent" - I regret that the sensible choice won out), however when you do finally get the chance to get over here let me know and I'll drag you to a few of the best rock/metal clubs and you can make your own new discoveries. Now I just have to start saving for Gacharic Spin in Roppongi in June...

I agree with LVT about girls in any genre, except maybe pop, always seeming to take a back seat. However it does seem no one told the ladies in Japan. I have to admit, for a very long time YT has been recommending these pretty ladies in maid costumes and I was sure it was just a gimmick band...how wrong I was. Been rocking them for a bit over a year now and it has opened my eyes to so much that is going on in Japanese rock and metal.
We of the West (Europe & the US) are responsible for Band Maid making it. When Thrill hit 2 million views, they found that almost the views were from Europe and the US. Because of that they went to Seattle to play at an Asian Festival. They had their the largest audience to date, 3000. After Seattle, they began touring in Europe at small venues building a fan base. They have more fans in the West then they have in Japan. Now they all are representatives of musical instrument companies, they were commissioned for an Anime show. Miku now has her own signature guitar that she designed! I can't name a woman in music with a signature guitar, can you? They're talented, professional, and very smart with the bonus of being beautiful.

How is it possible that reactor channels averaging 50-80 comments are reporting 500 comments for Bandmaid, containing ridiculous claims for average musicians in maid costumes, who never improvise live and whom multiple eyewitnesses swear are not playing their instruments? Who is “Steve”? Who is being paid to write these HILARIOUS claims ? “..the best rock band of the decade....by a lot.” Hahahahahahaha On a serious note: the people whose money you are taking, by lying to them, hire attorneys. Great song- but reaction is a bit lacking for musicians.. do you guys not know anything about music? most musicians who do song reactions tend to break down the songs and talk about all the various elements- but you guys never mentioned a single thing but visual elements of the video. People expect a more indepth analysis from muscians you know- no matter who you are reacting to.

@@フルーツぶどう-h8q 攻殻機動隊はDVDも全話持っていてよく知っています。テーマソングは雰囲気のある良い曲だと思います。攻殻機動隊の映像や世界観にもあっています。アニメで一番印象に残るのは、AKIRAのオープニングソングかもしれません。しかし、優劣は考えたことがありません。今は、歌詞も含めてBAND MAIDの曲の方が好きです。それは、優劣ではなく、個人の好みだと思います。自分たちで作詞作曲し演奏し、スタジオ以上のライブ演奏ができる彼らは、真の意味でのロックバンドだと思います。

@@フルーツぶどう-h8q アニソンが文化として受け入れられているのは、日本でアニメ文化が最大の文化規模・経済規模を持っているということでしょう。マンガ・アニメは全ての文化を取り込む自由さと表現力があります。それは、徐々に世界に浸透し始めていると思います。BabyMetal や BAND MAIDが海外に受け入れられたのは、その下地があってこそかもしれません。しかし、ファンは増えてますがBAND MAIDについては、日本国内の方がガールズロックバンドへの偏見が強いように感じます。地上波露出については、日本独特の風土があり別の力が働いているようにも感じます。J-ROCK・J-POPは自由な発想や表現力を持ったクールで多様な音楽として世界に認知されればいいような気がします。BAND MAID の曲を最新曲も含めて聞いてみてください。(^^♪
