I’m interested to see a long term review from you on this. I had a 1986 version of this, given to me by my parents for college graduation. I had desperately wanted one, and I loved its feel in my hand. However, it started inconsistently, even if I paused for a few seconds between thoughts (I used MB ink), and it almost always sweated on the grip when it spent any time in my pocket, leaving me with ink-stained fingers. I ended up selling it. In retrospect, I should have sent it to Mont Blanc for repair. Maybe it’s time to try again!

Jack, This is an excellent review of a coveted fountain pen! Since I know your personal back-story about your own MB 149, I enjoyed it even more! Please leave a comment on your impressions of the section. And, congratulations!

Great question, when I eventually get a pelikan, most likely an M600 I'll do a comparison!

Worst pens I own , Montblanc, grind on them is awful, they grinded so much of the iridium away that they only left the gold tip..pen skips like you won't believe, I have pens of 1/10 of the price that write much better and have better quality control...can not recommend spending your hard earned money..goes to show how little rich people know about something simple as writing.
