Do not worry about any time jumps in this season. The time jumps in season 1 were necessary to set up the conflict being one that boils up over several years, and the book covers those events just like "this happened in this year, and this in this other year, and this year was super important because this happened". However the entire Dance takes place in a span of only three years.
PS: Not to spoil anything, the funeral is for something much, much worse.

The reason for 10 to 8 eps is that they are pushing a major naval battle ( the biggest in the history of Westeros) to season 3. They will have at least 1 big battle this season, know as the battle of Rook's Rest.

Season will end at Red Fork, if you know what happens on that one you'll see why.. Gullet only happens season 3 first half. Sowing will take some time, i think it'll start by ep 6 or 7..

It’s so frustrating when you hear something like “budget concerns” or “over the budget” in regards to a show like House of the Dragon. Why potentially lessen how great the show is to save a little money? You know a billion people are going to watch your show
Especially when rings of power gets a season 2 with a billion dollar budget smh

Amazon has so much money they have to spend it on jobs or lose it to taxes.
So they need RoP and WoT etc to be massive money sinks, but it doesn't matter to them if they are successful
Imagine if HotD had movie level budget. We could get dragons scenes like Smaug's in The Hobbit, huge battles like the ones in LoTR. With what we have now, while it looks good most of the time, you can probably imagine how it could've looked better with more money. At least I can
2:40 I appreciate that they're showing the army with the appropriate supplies and equipment given their task (no spoilers), unlike in S7 of GoT where Lannisters attack Highgarden and all you see is a bunch of troops with zero sieging equipment, camp, or any kind of setup and you're left wondering "How tf did they take over Highgarden? With what?".

There wont be any time jumps, I can assure you that. They also wont rush anything and the 8 episodes were according to Sara Hess not their decision so it was probably HBO telling them to keep an eye on the budget since as you said, this season is going to be very CGI and action heavy. They also said they postponed a big battle to Season 3 which makes the 8 episodes a story driven cut aswell.

@@rexibhazoboa7097 Luke was 14 years old. He found the pig on the plate funny so he laughed. Aemond's ego is too fragile. On one hand he claims that an eye was a fair price for the dragon, on the other he wants a boy to carve out his own eye. Aemond knew very well what he was doing. He chased Luke on a war dragon. The blacks did not start anything.
About the whole bullying thing, Aegon started it. Also, Luke didn't cut his eye because he wanted to, he cut it out because Aemond was about to throw a big rock at Jace. It was self defense.

The Greens started the war. That's it.

Rhaenyra is NOT the primary aggressor. The Greens usurped her throne and murdered her son-however accidental that incident may have been, Lucerys is still dead because of Aemond-THEY are the problem people.

For me it's incredible that House of the Dragon has somehow managed to make the world of Westeros feel larger than what it felt like in Game of Thrones, despite its characters being far more tightly packed geographically AND plot-wise. Maybe it's due to the benefit of being a sequel but I think there's more to it. Most of all, in-depth writing and paying attention to details.

8 episodes is for multiple reasons.
First off, a major battle was moved from the end of this season to the beginning of the next one, probably since they wanted more time to work on it.
Despite the two years of development the season will still be more demanding than the first production-wise.
They covered a big chunk of content in season 1 and the source material has fewer details for this season's section, which means they need a lot of new scenes and new plots to give to characters which give the teams even more work to do.
Also, no more years long time jumps or actor changes due to them for the rest of the war.
This is it, from now on it will be just a straight telling of the conflict until it's ending.
As someone who has read the book it's pretty fun hearing you speculate about the funeral and who is or isn't involved in it.

In the meantime, Expanse vs GoT video perhaps..? I think it would be really neat to see those get compared since their source material is quite similar in style and tone, and since both shows are regarded as having some of the best material in their respective genres.
Or just make more of what you feel like making. Tends to produce the best results.

"Daemon and Rhanerya...were the aggressors..." gtfo, they were sending out envoys for diplomatic support (at least in Jace and Luke's case) and it was _Aemond's_ decision to go chasing after Luke and Arrax, no matter whether Vhagar got annoyed by the fledgling's fire, they wouldn't even had to come into contact if Aemond wasn't a dickhead

rhaenyra is not selfish i hate how often i hear this she just wanted to do her own thing have fun and not be burdened by duty until viserys told her about the prophecy then she accepted the burden of ruling "if you wish me to bear it then defend me" and this is for the betterment of the realm because her line goes on to produce jon, dany, and aegon so no matter who you think is the prince that was promised viserys was right naming rhaenyra because they come from her line

The reason s2 has been reduced to two episodes is cause the story was too big for it to be covered in the just 4 seasons so s2's 10 episodes got expanded into 16 episodes with the second half of the season becoming season three which is also why house of the dragon has been expanded to 5 or 6 seasons instead of the intended 4
Really ? Never read about that. I knew, when season 1 first aired, that they intended for the show to be 4 seasons, but I didn't know they want to extended it into 5, 6 seasons. Has it been confirmed by the showrunners or GRRM ? If so, then that's great and we're going to eat real good ahah!

I liked her accent in season 1. people were overreacting about it. Peoples accents halfway across the world sound as different as hers sounded. Plus I watch with subtitles so i had no problem understanding what she was saying.

They kind of are tho, at least from a smallfolk's point of view. Like stated in the show the greens have all signals of legitimacy, and additionally considering Kings landing is held by the greens the blacks need to make offensive moves to win. Remember, the small folk don't care as much about the politics, just who sits the chair and decides the laws and taxes.

I am just kind of tired already about equating a woman whom got children with her lover, because her husband was gay as equally bad as a guy who cheats on his sister wife by raping and who loves watching children mutilated and fighting other children to the death, possibly his own. Rhaenyra is not a bad person and would not be a bad ruler, if given the same chance as her predecessors.
I’m very excited for season 2. I do agree tho on how the campaigning for both sides is kind of funny to me bc the true fans know that there is no distinct good or bad team yk. I get it’s for marketing purposes but it still feels cringe a little lol

Not to spoil anything, the time jumps in season 1 was to set the context and the tone of the series. A fast forward if you will to 30-ish years of Viserys reign and how the war started. After that the war it self didn't span 30 years, so no time jumps.

"Grey characters" is really just realistically written characters, there's no purely good and bad people in really life, everyone is capable of good and bad actions given the proper circumstances and motivations.

I highly recommend that you and all who haven't either buy and read it or the very best way is to buy the audio book on audible. I have it, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms (Dunk & Egg) the future series and all the ASOIAF Books an Audible and listen to them all the time when driving or in my free time. I just got done with Dance of the Dragons for the 4th or 5th time and started Fire and Blood from the start and already at one of my favorite parts with King Jaehaerys' long Reign. I hope they do a sewries with him and his queen with how much detail they go into with him and his epic reign. It is packed with plenty of what could make for a great series in the future! More over I want Aegon's Conquest and all of it should have started with that before the Dance of Dragons cause the conquest was awesome just from the little detail we get and there is plenty to expand on to make great story telling if done correctly! Just imagine Aegon played by Charlie Hunan (Jax Sons of Anarchy) and have Visenya played by Katheryn Winnick (Vikings) and for the last head of the dragon Rhaenys who just for fun bare with me for a sec. (She could be played by I wish but it would never become true and probably wouldn't be good really but I love her and big fan by our one true queen Daenareys Targaryen Emilia Clarke but she really wouldn't be a good idea to have her a another character in the fam) S back to reality Rhaenys played by one of these that I can't pick from 1 Lily James, she would be a great dragon riding queen and has the accent for it since they seem to go with so many british actors but if not next is another one of my 2 favs for this role 2 Olivia Holt best young and upcoming and not over the top for $ , 3 Blake Lively not seen her for awhile and unknown on playing a dragon riding queen but this character will not be back after season 1 for obvious reason of death, then we have 4Amber Heard (probably too much $), 4

the marketing strategy actually shows that there isn't a clearly good side.
Its kinda funny when I see folks like make little predictions or breakdowns, and then remembering as you yourself pointed out, is that not everyone has read the books, or knows what will happen.
But yeah do not worry about the jumps, the war it self lasts only 2-3 years, at most I could see certain jumps being ones that take a few weeks, be it between episodes or within an episode.
Knight of the seven kingdoms will have an indie budget next to hotd's, but the novels are really well written

Rhaenyra chose war before the death of Luke « bu the Tv show changed that » , Aegon is not a raper in the books , rhaenyra killed vaemond Velaryon before he arrived to court in the books, rhaenyra and daemon killed l’avenir in the books. It seems like the producers are biased against the greens. GRRM made both side grey , but the producers made blacks good and greens bad.

The Battle of Rook's Rest would be a hell of a point to end season 2 on, that's for sure.
Despite being disappointed by 2 less episodes this season, I believe that’s completely WB exec’s fault. Back when they filmed HOTD S1, WB wasn’t in as much financial distress as they have been during the filming of S2, (plus they prolly invested a lot in S1 so they could go all out and hook us in after the catastrophe that was S8).
Other major aspects include the pandemic, the writers strikes, and their other big projects doing poorly financially AND critically. So 2 less episodes is probably around $40M they’re saving which they clearly need lmfao. I just hope it doesn’t affect the quality of the show, as we’ve seen what shorter seasons can do to this franchise

There is a reason for there only being 8 episodes actually! They wanted season two to end at a certain point in the story and made the executive decision to shorten the 2nd season and elongate the 3rd season! So that’s something to look forward to!! They didn’t want to drag out the plot to give us more episodes, they wanted the 2nd finale to leave us with the same thirst for more as the first season did. Truly respectable; honoring the original work and the fans by refusing to sacrifice the quality for quantity has restored my faith and gets me even more hype for what’s to come!!❤😊

This may seem petty to some, but here goes. I hope those in charge do something with Mysaria, aka 'White Worm". Most Everybody in the cast has a British accent and they all sound authentic. When Mysaria speaks, her accent just bounces back and forth from one odd dialect to another. Maybe they want her to sound foreign and mysterious. I'm not sure. What I am sure if is it sounds odd and I'm not the only one who feels likes I do. HOUSE OF THE DRAGON is such a great story and books. I cannot WAIT for the excitement to commense!! TEAM BLACK TO THIS MOON AND BACK!!⚫️🖤🐉🐲
