Chuck found some original Clear Filament Friday PLA and used it to 3D Print a Christmas Tree. He combined it with an LED kit from Amazon to produce a unique and fun Christmas Decoration. He explains all the steps in this week's Filament Friday.

Chuck, I appreciate you using one of the most inexpensive printers. So many use Prusa. They are en excellent printer but often out of reach for people starting this wonderful hobby.
Love that TO-92 transistor slanted lead trick. I've inserted so many of them, but never thought of that.

The best solder to use is one with a water-washable flux such as Kester 331. After soldering, just use warm water to wash off the flux and use compressed air to dry. Most components are water-proof and will not be harmed. Your boards will look nicer.

I recognize that tree, I've actually built a few of them over the years. Fun little project and it looks super cool, never thought to make a "cover" for it though! I've got some clear PETG this would be perfect for.

I had used your file and settings. Although I had clear PTEG. AT first it printed up perfectly, I could see a opaque image of my hand inside. Then I noticed what look like holes where two layers didn’t “stick” best as I can describe. And on same side looks like a seam from bottom to top. I yet to make tree yet I do have kit

i'm not as confident with my soldering skills (or lack thereof - i know... i need to practice) yet... but have just used the multi-colored LED seed lights in translucent single wall prints and they look amazing for DIY battery or USB powered nightlights. the multicolored ones on a slow 'breathe' rotation are really soothing and give a soft glow through the PLA
I have found many things this year too late to create and gift out (or make for myself) SO.... as we Cleveland Browns fans say.... "There's always next year" LOL now I just have to manage these projects and not forget!

Ok, I have said it before, but it needs to be said again, you are a genius. I have been trying to make a hollow half moon using your normal profiles and vase mode and I got the same stupid lines or it would say it would take years to print, not a joke. I imported the moon again to try, put your setting in and low an behold, I can actually print it. I'll have to give you a heads up how it prints, but at least I have a profile to use.

The holy grail is a diffuser which lights the entire part evenly so you don't see points of light from the LEDs. Not sure if transparent or white PLA is going to do a better job.
Is there a way to print with pla to make it translucent to use as a cover over an LED light? So when the light is off it’s white, but at night it glows white from the led?
Love the Christmas tree. I have a question about the neptune 3. I just got 1 and when I tried to use pause at height it will not preform this function. Do you have any suggestions. Thank you for your time.
CHEP, is it possible to use you 5.1 0.28 profile, and have Cura change to a diner profile for say the last 5-10 layers? I know you can change individual parameters at layer height, but I had this Bolt measurer, and it prints great and fast but the extruded numbers on the top 5-6 layers look terrible. If I could take advantage of the fast profile and then just switch to an ultrafine for the top text layers. Thanks! Marry Christmas!

Is there a way of making a print act as a light diffuser? LEDs in general would look a lot better if their light was more homogenous. I've tried with single-wall white PLA and double-wall clear PLA, but have had no success.

I just got my new 8K Elegoo Saturn 2 resin printer and it is a huge printer.
I found that when it comes to washing and curing even though I use only water washable resin,
The problem I found is that there is no wash & cure system by any maker including Elegoo which would have the size of wash tub or curing area
big enough to do the full size of any model the full size of the Saturn 2 does?
I emailed Elegoo about any possible bigger system coming out so us Saturn 2 owners can have any full bed plate sized model can be washed & cured!
Have you any idea's which could help in being able to wash and cure such big models this amazing Saturn 2 can make!

where can i find your Ender 3 Cura profiles? the links in your past videos dont work :(
This may not be on the subject of the video but I have an Ender 3 Pro and every time I print a tall vertical print when it gets 75-100% complete, it falls or the nozzle knocks the print over and it canno complete. Can anyone please offer me some suggestions or print settings that will fix this issue? I am losing alot of wasting time and PLA from failed prints. Please help? Thanks
Check the brass T-nut for binding. You may be losing Z motor steps because of it causing the issue.
@@FilamentFriday will do. I did have to fix an issue where my z motor housing would fall when the motors were not engaged. I installed an anti backlash screw but it still falls when not in use. I always have to put something under it to prevent the drop.
Try also doing z-hop, it may help

I made a base for that tree for a friends Christmas tree, they put up at a local place that does Christmas fundraising raising .. I'm gonna upload it and leave wear its at so if anyone wants it it will be under this comment
Use slow "flashing" RGB LEDs, for me they are much more interesting, they dont flash, just change the color slowly.
Wish that was in the kit.
