The iPhone 4 screen is a complete screen assembly which means that you cannot replace just the LCD or the digitizer. The screen and digitizer are fused together at the factory and cannot be separated. Don't buy of ebay sellers who claim otherwise.

    Andrew,
Thank you for the lesson, it worked like a charm. My old iPhone 4 will now have a new life as a TH-cam server coupled up with an Apple TV 2nd Gen., for my 84 year old mother-in-law. She likes the old BBC mystery series Inspector Morse.

Many thanks for the speed and way that you made this video.
I had to watch it a few times, as I'm slow. i still forgot to plug back in the ariel cable. But soon worked that out.
£8 and an hour of my time for a new screen is better than the charge from mobile phone retailers.

Caution: some screen replacements don't come with the speaker mesh and front camera holder installed. I learned this only after I'd finished the job and something didn't look right (the mesh), and something didn't sound right with a gentle shaking (the camera holder being absent). You may have to migrate these components to the new screen. It would be great if the owner of this video could add an annotation at that point to remind viewers that this may be necessary.
    Thanks for the great video!

As few people busted here their new screens, make sure the two (or more) ribbons which goes through the hole (when you place your new screen) doesn't bend, so before your screw your new screen, make sure the ribbons are going together/well through the hole to the right place.

  • @T3chBeatz

Thanks for this tutorial, really helpful. Shame I managed to loose 1 screw! but still works ok so all good. Advice to anyone planning to attempt; keep a nice detailed diagram when taking screws apart so easier to put right one back in, even take a photo. You risk penentrating a vital part if you put a longer screw in the wrong place. Motherboard is also very delicate so handle in the metal parts only. Keep lots of photos to remind you how it looked before you take it off, after full disassembly it maybe hard to remember how things slotted in especially if they don't slot in perfectly first time you may hesitate on pushing it to hard in case of damage. I can understand it was difficult for Andrew to get a good angle/zoom when working on the repair simultaneously. Once again - thanks Andrew, big thumbs up! p.s. Suggest you buy a decent ph000 (phillips screwdriver) that is magnetic, good quailty and not too big as you need to manouvre in tight corners! The ph000 is the head mostly used in this task inculding removal of the frame (I learned that you can just loosen the frame screws, no need to remove fully as tricky to get back in due to size).
