The iPhone 4 screen is a complete screen assembly which means that you cannot replace just the LCD or the digitizer. The screen and digitizer are fused together at the factory and cannot be separated. Don't buy of ebay sellers who claim otherwise.
A very clear concise description of a complicated task. Thank you.
just wanted to say thank you....just like the other guy (dean payne) i spend hours on my phone...but i was finally able to disassemble two iphones replace the logic board, put in a new back cover and a new lcd screen. thank you for posting this up. even though one was a 4 and the other 4s i was able to make it work :) thanks
Great Video. Clear, concise and easy to follow. I'm adding this video to my permanent collection for future reference. Thanks again.
Andrew,
Thank you for the lesson, it worked like a charm. My old iPhone 4 will now have a new life as a TH-cam server coupled up with an Apple TV 2nd Gen., for my 84 year old mother-in-law. She likes the old BBC mystery series Inspector Morse.
Great tutorial, very simple and easy to follow. You just saved me a few quid
WICKED VID BRO GOT A NEW SCREEN COMING ON THE WAY.. HAD MY I PHONE 4 FOR 5 YEARS NOW HAD TO PUT 2 NEW BATTERY'S IN IT BUT THIS LOOKS A LOADS BIGGER JOB.
WISH ME LUCK
dinglejingle my replacement screen doesn’t have any ribbons attached. Do you know if his will be ok?
YOUR VIDEO WAS A GREAT HELP, SPECIALLY PUTTING IT BACK THE IPHONE. THANK YOU
I've not replaced my cracked screen yet but this is exactly what I have been looking for. Superb that you've taken the time and effort to put this video together. Topman
Thanks Andrew - followed your instruction step by step and fixed my sons iphone 4. Perfect comprehensive instructions it took me about an hour. Thanks again.
Your welcome Harry glad it helped.
Millions of thanks it helped me a lot, and I hope you have got such as nice training again and again wish you all the best,
Nice video explaining in simple details. The glass digitizer is very inexpensive, my galaxy 5 with screen and digitizer was much more, 150 usd and the iphone4 was 3 usd on Amazon. I'll watch this several times then try, wish my luck!
with your instructions and guidance it was a straightforward process for a first timer. Thanks.
Andrew thanks so much for sharing this. It really helped out and saved me money! Felt like I was doing a surgery :)
lol yep!
Awesome, simple to follow video.
Many thanks for the speed and way that you made this video.
I had to watch it a few times, as I'm slow. i still forgot to plug back in the ariel cable. But soon worked that out.
£8 and an hour of my time for a new screen is better than the charge from mobile phone retailers.
this is the best guide i've ever seen on youtube explained everything thankyou my mrs thinks im great lol
Accurate explanation. .All Finding clear and dignity. Very professionally done
What a superb tuitional. Fixed my screen in an hour. Thankyou!
A good and clear way of replace the iPhone 4 screen
Thanks
Thank you for posting this Andrew. I watched this from Connecticut USA, whilst getting a Skype call from from a family member located in North Lincolnshire and commenting, "he's from England!" :D
I want to say a huge thank you! I have a Verizon phone and although the structure is slightly different, your instructions helped so much! God bless!
+Jess you did this all by yourself?
Jahsino Dukes Yep! It took a while because a lot of the screwdrivers I ordered SUCKED but I eventually got the right ones and I was able to not only change my screen but my LED which had cracked. lol
thank you so much for the video! you explained everything really well! And now my iphone has a brand new screen that works perfectly. I drew a sketch to remind me where each part and screw went after- that really helped. It took me a while to finish and a lot of patience, but I succeeded!
Superb video obviously from a person with great communication skills....very easy to follow with my lame brain! Thanks for the upload and have a Happy New Year mate.
Fantastic video ,easy to listen and understand , many thanks
Glad it helped
andrew mcneil can you recommend where to get i phone 4 screens from?
Alun Roberts ebay is your best bet. super cheap
Alun Roberts ebay I payed $1.85 U.S and the tool kit for .99cents U.S
Connie Harpell Do you have link for where you purchased your replacement kit?
Thank you Andrew it helped me save money for me and my iPhone 4s
Beautiful video! very helpful. I was able to change my broken screen with a lot of ease. I drew some diagrams to locate/replace the screws as remembering where the screws go is very difficult.
You said on the video that we had to remove water sensor because there was a screw underneath that we need to take out.
It doesn't show us how to take the water sensor out
We are trying to replace iPhone 4 face
a clear and easy to follow video, thank you for your help.
Thank you for the video. Now I have to find someplace reputable to buy this replacement screen for my daughters phone.
Hey Andrew thanks for uploading your video, it's be very helpful. Never done anything like this before and your guidance in the video works.
THANK YOU MUCH AND THANK YOU FOR TAKING TIME TO DO THIS
Great instructor and instructions, easy to follow and everythings covered.
Great vid. Has rescued my elderly 4, though upgrade time could be near. I love the 4, many prefer it over a 5 I reckon.
Good job dood! my phone is fixed and works perfectly! i did end up with an odd piece of rubber left over which must have fallen off at some point. Still you can't have everything!!!
I'm going to do my daughters iphone next week, thanks for the video.........
I will certainly try it myself. Great explanation and very clear! Thanks
Thanks for the video.
First crack at doing my own iphone repairs and we have success...Excellent, Easy to follow video.
By the way...Where do the ;eft over screws go??? ;0)
Great video! Especially enjoyed your brief comments on the school next door & the [wonderful] background noises created therein. Thanks again for this informative video! :-)
Great tutorial...followed every step and jst replaced mine...Thanks a lot!!!
Thanks a lot, worked llike a charm for fixing my sister's phone. Funny thing is, I dropped and lost the screw under the water sensor (at 5:20). I thought I'll move on with the repair and when I get to the poin of puting it back I'll search the floor again. However I didn't see you putting it back either!
yo this was so easy to do. im 15 and this was a piece of cake.
Excellent instructions
We are almost finished except for the water sensor above the screw.
It doesn't say how to remove it.
Please explain that part please.
It was so easy to follow all other directions.
Thanks
If we can find out this info we will be able to finish
Thanks for this - a fiddly job but you made it nice and clear!
i’m considering replacing the screen for my old iphone and holy crap. this is so complicated just to replace the screen. good video, tho!
That was an excellent video. Thanks for taking the time to make it.
Your welcome Richard glad it was helpful.
You said on the video that we had to remove water sensor because there was a screw underneath that we need to take out.
It doesn't show us how to take the water sensor out
Thanks for the video. Got my screen replaced in a few hours...those pesky tiny-ass screws are killer!!
Awesome video and clear explanation. Say hi to the kids planting vegetables and flowers :) . Cheers mate and Thanks once again.
Caution: some screen replacements don't come with the speaker mesh and front camera holder installed. I learned this only after I'd finished the job and something didn't look right (the mesh), and something didn't sound right with a gentle shaking (the camera holder being absent). You may have to migrate these components to the new screen. It would be great if the owner of this video could add an annotation at that point to remind viewers that this may be necessary.
Thanks for the great video!
Matthew Wood
Very helpful, thank you Andrew.
Can you tell me where you bought your screen, the first time i bought one i didn't realize it was only the glass until it was all taken apart and I don't want to make the same mistake again, the video did help me alot taking it apart and figuring out how it worked.
Very usefull. Better watch it again before assembling the iphone back. The assembly instructions are not very detailed.
Thanks!
Thank you Andrew nice video a to z guide. Replacement successful.
Really nice video, nice explaination, followed your steps and everything went well. Thanks a lot. The only mistake is that I think you forgot to reinsert the screw that had a water sensor on it..! But I did reinsert it anyway haha!
Thank you for this video,
unfortunately I did not succeed in repairing the iphone
Thank you. Thorough and well-explained. Was a massive help. God bless
Great video, nice and easy to follow. thanks
good work on the video the only thing that was a bit annoying was the focus of the camera but besides that the video was great good job.
Thanks for the video! Unfortunately my touch screen digitizer didn't work and there was a horrible flicker, I guess I fell into the trap of purchasing a defected product.
Great explanation. A bracket fell out of the phone when repairing and now im not sure where it goes back - can you help?
Very helpful video, thank you, I just wish the 6 interior screws with washers on my cracked phone weren't all stripped.
Vokaynroks this mean no crevice for screw driver?
thanks for the video man. my iphone got annoying little black spots over the screen. can you make a video how to remove the black spots?
Thank you very much. This helped a lot.
Got a couple of problems I have some small parts that wernt mentioned a small copper bit from camera end and the power cable end, also had problems seening what you were unscrewing at times other than that thanks
Thanks for awseome video, now i got screen replaced for only 13$~ for the screen from ebay!
Great Video! the process is a lot easier than I expected, however shouldn't you be concerned about electrostatic discharge ?, well unless you and your workstation were already grounded, just a thought...
You shouldn't cut out the parts of taking any of the screws out as it denies showing the watcher the actual location of the screws. other than the fact of cutting out parts of the video it was very well made and easy to follow.
As few people busted here their new screens, make sure the two (or more) ribbons which goes through the hole (when you place your new screen) doesn't bend, so before your screw your new screen, make sure the ribbons are going together/well through the hole to the right place.
Thanks for this tutorial, really helpful. Shame I managed to loose 1 screw! but still works ok so all good. Advice to anyone planning to attempt; keep a nice detailed diagram when taking screws apart so easier to put right one back in, even take a photo. You risk penentrating a vital part if you put a longer screw in the wrong place. Motherboard is also very delicate so handle in the metal parts only. Keep lots of photos to remind you how it looked before you take it off, after full disassembly it maybe hard to remember how things slotted in especially if they don't slot in perfectly first time you may hesitate on pushing it to hard in case of damage. I can understand it was difficult for Andrew to get a good angle/zoom when working on the repair simultaneously. Once again - thanks Andrew, big thumbs up! p.s. Suggest you buy a decent ph000 (phillips screwdriver) that is magnetic, good quailty and not too big as you need to manouvre in tight corners! The ph000 is the head mostly used in this task inculding removal of the frame (I learned that you can just loosen the frame screws, no need to remove fully as tricky to get back in due to size).
Thank u mr.mac...its a big help
Hey I was just wondering I Followed the Tutorial to the 'T" but my phone is continually searching for service and telling me I have no service. Any ideas? I checked the little cable that connects from the speakers going by the battery, and no dice.
It worked for me! Thank you.
Very Helpfull. Many thanks
Took me 4 hours and am now finding out where to sell iPhone spares and repairs... Good video anyway
I follow every step of your video but my iphone doesn't want to hold charger what should I do

Great video. Thank you so much!

Man, Apple really doesn't want you to replace your battery!
+Yours Truly because they want you to go out and spend your money on new Apple products

A Kid From Africa what?
Hi thought this fairly easy to understand but i have no service what can do?
well done and thank you for the video
Unless you're tech savvy, you're best off just taking it in shop. I just dropped the fucker 5 minutes ago, which is why I'm here lol...
same i just drop my
Yeah me to.Should i go to an shop to repair it?I am scared that they could replace my phone's components and put others that are worst .
Much appreciated brother. Many thanks!
Great tutorial, I have used it to repair two Iphones in the family. My only comment is that I think that the screw under the moisture sensing screw is not shown being added when the phone goes back together. I missed this first time and so currently have one of my phones with no screw :(
But is the phone working properly even with a missing screw?
Should I replace the lcd screen ?? Nice video tempting to haver go lol thank you
Thanks I've just replaced my screen. My screwdriver wasn't magnetic which made it fiddly. Is it possible to cause damage to components with a magnetic screwdriver?
nice video brother it helped alot
Good video, however can you recommend a good quality make star screwdriver? I'm in the process of screwing the new screen onto the rim but struggling a bit as the quality of driver I got with the screen is absolute garbage, barely magnetic and a bit too big for the screw heads
good video i got my phone fixed
That helped a lot thank u so much
I was going to repair my daughter's 4s, but after seeing how much is involved, I'm having second thoughts
D She don't be lazy I'm doing this and buying a screen protector as well!
I dropped and and cracked the front screen (glass) of my iPhone 4 yesterday. I want to replace it myself. I have another iPhone 4 which I don't use because my brother whom lives in Japan have it to me because he no longer has use for it. I wonder if I can take the screen from one iPhone 4 and transplant it to another, using your instructions here, without issue?
Thank you so much in advance.
-Sione
Hi Andrew, thanks very much for a great tutorial video!
I'm just wondering what screwdriver you personally use on the Phillips head screws inside the Iphone, just bought a pack off Ebay to replace my screen and it came with a Phillips head that was completely unfit for purpose, wouldn't unscrew any of the screws.
my screw driver was working perfectly fine until the final steps it will not unscrew the final 6 screws on the side what size is exactly needed for the 3 screws on the left and right
Great video, thanks so much for making it!
Listen kids, he ses do the small ones first as if you do big ones, they get blunt, top article, listenin to your voice mate, neally went into a come four times, top one matey
Great thanks all working fine cheers and nice and easy to follow good man can't beleave my iPhone 4 has lasted 5 years till the other day when I broke the screen lol
Tyler Mansi
thanks man, really helped me
Hi Andrew, this is Viv from NZ and I am up to the point in your video where you take out the screw where the water sensor is but unfortunately the screw is that tight that the head of it has burred. How would you deal with that? Thanks Viv
I tried to replace my screen . Took apart the phone like you showed in the video but then notice the screen didn't fit the phone so I just but my phone back together but now it won't read my sim ..
Help!!!
