Lambing Pens in Use.

This video shows how we are using the lambing pens that we just built.
Typically upon arrival into the sheep barn, we discover that lambs have been born. At this time, we place the lambs with their mom into a lambing pen. They are kept in the pen for 2 to 3 days to encourage bonding time.
The pen is built from hog panels and is anchored into the concrete wall requiring only 3 sides. They are all connected to one another and each pen has a door. We have created a video on the steps taken to build our pens and is shared at ambryacres.com...
Each pen is set up with a pail to hold water. Water is being supplied by turning on and off the hose that can run 100 feet allowing us to reach the furthest pen. At this time, we are lambing only in the Spring and won't have any issues with the water freezing. This system is adequate for this time of year in Canada.

Water pails are positioned above the height of the lambs to ensure that they cannot fall into them.
We ensure that the sheep always have access to water, feed and milk. Each ewe that lambs will be tracked and details relating to their lambing is recorded.
