    Great to watch an honest job complete with a few probs and how much work was involved in remedying them! Great result in the end

    Good video I've got a question for you I've got some old cellulose primer in a tin unopened haven't mixed any thinners with it yet would it still be ok to use even though it's been on the shelf for a few years thanks Danny

    • @WinginitPaintSprayers
      @WinginitPaintSprayers  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi mate, ill be honest I've never put cellulose primer through a gun, I hate the stuff 🤣. I think shelf life on primers is normally a couple of years, best thing to do is mix up a little bit and do a test panel to see if it 'dries' enough to work with. I'd always use a 2 pack primer personally, it may save a lot of reactions and nasties 👍

    Great vid, I’m learning loads of useful stuff for my DIY paint jobs. Still have no clue what wet on wet is though ?

    • @WinginitPaintSprayers
      @WinginitPaintSprayers  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Martin, wet-on-wet is 2 things: A product, a primer which you can apply and also a term in which you don't rub something down before putting the next layer on (you just leave it long enough to dry but not fully, there's a window in which you can do it) 🤘

    Very interesting instalment young man, the Spitfire came good in the end but it must be very frustrating to put all that work into a job and it goes and bites you in the butt and have to do half of it again 😠👍
    Thanks for dedicating the lacquer stage to me Luke and yeah I am a dirty old git, when you get to my age a good coat of clear is better than sex 🤓😳😂
    I was chucking some Final Systems clear about this morning over some performance blue solvent base, came out looking nice. I've tried water base like you used here but I couldn't get on with it but I will try again at some point.
    Have to say mate that I'm really liking the newish Octoral C401 clear, that stuff lays down and flows out lovely, thanks mate 🤗👊🙏👍

      Very frustrating mate indeed, all you can do is double check everything and try ya best! It's a poxy trade 🤣🤣.
      I've got a couple of weeks worth of clear left and then I'll be on the hunt for another one, so I'll be tapping you up for recommendation! X 🤘

    • @JohnWD40TC02
      @JohnWD40TC02 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would recommend the Octoral C401 but it costs more than the Final Systems at around £120 for a 7L kit as it's 3:1. What I would do is contact Jordan Salt and get a 1.5L sample kit of the Multi-Mix2 HS clear everyone seems to like it and there are plenty of hardeners available plus it doesn't suffer dieback even with the fastest hardener which is the 'Air Dry Plus' it's around the same price as the Final Systems for a 7.5L kit. Get one now before you get low on clear. 👍

    Looks absolutely bang on Luke me old china....when you get the big "fish eyes" do you just blob them in with a bit of lacquer? I did that on the porka then sanded the bollox out of it :)

    • @WinginitPaintSprayers
      @WinginitPaintSprayers  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cheers dude, we got there in the end! Touch wood I rarely get them mate, I de-grease everything after every stage. I tend to re-lacquer the panel instead of having a big flat area, I've turned a bit OCD from dealing with awkward customers 🤘

    What engine is in that car? Dual carbs and cross flow head, doesn't look Fac-tree!
    Oh and what is a "drop coat"?

    • @WinginitPaintSprayers
      @WinginitPaintSprayers  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Haven't the foggiest old bean, I've no interest in cars - I just throw paint at them and hope it dries 🤣🤣. Never even heard it running as they had taken a load of bits off before we got it. A drop coat is a final dusting of basecoat over the job that sits on top of any very minor scratches or helps gets rid of any patchy areas before we lacquer it, you angle the gun so it 'drops' onto the panel instead of getting a finish with the coat 👍

    Old cars, problems,interesting you taped a light on the gun as I believe i tripped the other week because I had an smd light in my other hand at the time of "the trip" wrist still not perfect.😒
    I hope when they conkered you up you went and opened a tinny as you deserved one
    Don't do another
    Repeat after me
