    Wow, those are some crazy builds! Makes mine look like a shanty town hahaha. Going to take some of yours for reference!

    Damn, those are some good looking towns. Shame there are less than 10 people living there so it looks empty if you have ceilings.

      That is true. The towns in this game were more limited in both, space and people. It was still pretty fun building!

    Fun fact Cantelin is the only city you can make underground because of it's height
    You can dig around 5 blocks before water level and 7 before bedrock
    Compared to other towns that are directly above water level so 2 blocks before bedrock
    Wich makes it possible for Cantelin to build around 2flooors below the ground
    Another fun fact is that in any town you are able of adding normal water
    Even the third chapter
    You have to dig a tunnel from the sea and go to your base it takes a bit of time but it's worth it
    Be careful tho because messing with water can be dangerous when you have a town at below sea level since it will fill your entire town on water level if there is a hole

    From what I've noticed, there's a number of things you could optimize.
    For Cantlin, it feels a tad bland. Just stone walls and floors with small rooms and a lot of unused space. Also, wherever you have access to Obsidian you should definitely use it. It's practically indestructible. Only the giant cyclops monsters can break it from what I've seen. So it makes excellent material for bordering walls.
    For Rimuldar, I like the style you're going for but too many unnecessary buildings only leaves the town feeling cramped, likely why you built outside the town border.
    For Kol, same as Rimuldar, focus on necessity before spreading out. Unlike Terra Incognita, you've only so much to work with. Fewer beds, maybe make some rooms larger, and try using materials from Galenholm.
    I honestly don't have much to say about Tantegal. I guess maybe put rooms in their intended spots, then build a second floor. The design you have looks much nice than the one I made

    • @RickRodGaming
      @RickRodGaming  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your insight.
      For Cantlin, I was just trying to do as much as I could to do a cool looking castle. Unlike the other chapters, there were not that many materials to really build. Even If I would have gone and use the actual castle blocks that you find on the first teleportal(I think, cant remember), it would have not been enough to do what I wanted to do. As for obsidian, I was just too lazy to get it lol
      For Rimuldar, I agree. The thing is, I was envisioning to creating an actual big town, but was hit when, after building the border around, that it was too small. At that point, it was a bit too late to go back lol. The theme I was going for was like one of those medieval towns that uses a lot of wooden huts and buildings, and then a few farms.
      For Kol, as you mentioned, materials were very scarce, so in here I just basically built at random lol I wish I would have spent more time in building a better town here
      For Tantegal, I just wanted to build a castle honestly lol. My big problem throughout all chapters is that, I first build to complete quests, then destroy and the rebuild how I think might work. The problem with that is that, during the whole process, I forget where the intended rooms should go, so I just basically got a bit random, but at the same time, trying to get a design with purpose. At some point in my life, I wanted to be an Architect, which is why I fell in love with this game so much. Not saying I have skill or even good design direction(I am horrible designer actually lol), but that is the reason why I love building in this game so much lol

      @@RickRodGaming Sorry for the late response. This got buried...
      It really all comes down to creativity. Once the foundation is down, imagine this place was real with real citizens depending on you. What would you want our of this place? It's as simple as that
      With Cantlin, I created a mote with spikes and obsidian walls. Enemies can't get in and die just trying to get out. My inn and eatery are the large structure beside the starting house, which I ripped down and repurposed into the armory. Two private rooms, a bunkhouse, and the open space is the kitchen with a staircase leading down. Many buildings are already there, just broken. What I like to do is figure out their original purpose and fix it up

      @@alpharabbit2353 lol no problem. I been away from TH-cam for a while, but I want to get back into making videos.
      I get what you mean, and that is true. I need to be more creative. And yeah lol I learned that until later that the spaced that were already there were there for a reason. The thing is, I kinda wanted to make my own designs, so in all chapters I ended up making them totally different. I will need to plan better next time, tho. I can't wait for Dragon Quest builders 2 to get back into it lol

      True, but it is a bit of a hastle, since it is a bit far into the first teleportal I believe. since I could not make them, I decided to skip going to get it lol I am a bit lazy. Also, sorry for taking too long to answer, been away for a while, but I am finally back!

    • @RickRodGaming
      @RickRodGaming  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      yeah. A way I found around it is to do sort of like a trap, like I did on the 1st chapter, and place strong materials. On 3rd and 4th chapter it was a bit tough because, when the boss battles came(like during the story) sometimes big monsters like gollems and dragons would popup causing major damage lol
