THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! in a pipeline that ends with a game ready model, retopod, textured, etc.. After you make this do you just bake this info onto your mesh??
Yes, you could model this in Maya using instances. There are many ways to do it. I use 3dsMax and there is a plugin called slideknit that is perfect for this kind of modeling. Maya has a similar plugin but I can't remember the name. sorry.
Forgive the noobie question, but can you now take the finished armor mesh and using a big Move brush, make the mesh as a whole conform to a figure below it? Or does the mesh want to break up?
+Kevin Phillips No need for apologies mate, good question. The beauty of using Nanomesh like this is that for a character you could duplicate the mesh, isolate the part you want to cloth(say a chainmail shirt) delete the rest of the unwanted geometry, run a Zremesh until you get relatively even quads(as the underlying surface topology directly affects the placement of the Nanomeshes) So this result in a perfectly fitted shirt. Then you can create a mesh from it and either split it to polygroups and use the mask by polygroups feature to refine/manipulate it, or move topological(which works on non-contiguous geometry) You can use any move brush you like, like your suggestion of a large move brush, you just have to be gentle with it as, yes, the mesh will skew/distort if you are over-zealous.
+Furio Tedeschi Haha! Holy s@@t, it's like god himself commenting. :) No problem, mate. You're welcome. And thanks for being such an inspiration over the years.
Thank you for taking your time to make such an awesome tutorial
Francis Njoroge You're most welcome. Thanks for the kind words.

+rosielxxrik No problem. Thanks for the comment. Yes, you could bake it down easily.
Thank you Sir.
+Ernesto Rodriguez You're very welcome.
Is there a change in Zbrush nanomesh since this video ? i am trying to replicate the process step by step, but with no luck so far.
+pimeto No, this was done in R7, and as far as I know it hasn't changed from then to the latest P3 patch. Where are you losing your way?
So much power in nano mesh - time to move over to r7
I have that same problem with the sliders. I type in something - click - goes back...Sometimes it can get to be really annoying.
Very cool but how do you close the gaps between the links. They don't line up on a curved surface either. Anyone help?
Thank you for sharing all the cool stuff you are making! :)
redsharingman Cheers for the support man. More in the pipeline.
omg! You are the real MVP!!! Thanks a ton !
+ahtiandr Haha! Thanks man. Appreciate the comment.

+Sherif Medhat You're welcome.
Awesome, thanks man!!!
+Oliver Milas Cheers mate. Appreciate it.
Paid for it, worth it.
+strayfies Appreciate it mate, but I thought I had it up for free on Gumroad? Thanks for the support.
cool imm brush dude -thanks
John Haverkamp No problem. Enjoy.
wow!
so usefull! thank you
+Petru Voloșenco (pocks) You're very welcome.
Hello
Can you model this same quality micro mesh in maya, or have to do retopologia and generate a map to extract the details?
Yes, you could model this in Maya using instances. There are many ways to do it. I use 3dsMax and there is a plugin called slideknit that is perfect for this kind of modeling. Maya has a similar plugin but I can't remember the name. sorry.
You'r a legend!
+stifla23 cheers mate. Thanks for the comment.
wonder if I should upgrade to 7... I have 6 right now but I just worry if any problem happen like the 5 that keep crashing.
Head Shot Yes, upgrade. New tools. New workflows. 4R7 is at Patch 3 now so crashes are fewer.
=.= really....... crash are fewer...........
Head Shot Yes. Upgrade. :) There's no reason not to.
ilove you and your tutorials, please more !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
wiewiorlb Ha!Ha!. Cheers buddy. More on the way.......:)
Hello,
I follow your steps but my "NanoMesh On" button is grey out. You have any idea why it happens?
Thanks.
+Long Phan Not sure, what time in the video are you up to when this happens? You must have missed a step.
+musashidanmcgrath I got it. I missed one step before that. I have another question to ask. How do add/delete meshes in an existing IMM brush?
could you tell me which step did you miss? Because I have the same problem now

+Kevin Phillips No problem mate. Any further questions, don't hesitate to ask.
very cool dude thx

Great look at nanomesh:). I was going to make some youtube videos today and I might talk about nanomesh.
+LEGIT134 Cheers man. There can never be enough vid tuts! :)
I really like your accent.
Thanks. You're not the first woman who I've heard that from.... :)
I imagine so 😉 do you do voice overs?
These are great, picked them up for my own models. Cheers mate
+Paul Deasy Great stuff. Hope they've been useful.
