2 hours of Balrum not enough? I have another video!
th-cam.com/video/4qwTVyXGTdk/w-d-xo.html
Thank you so much for playing Balrum! You and Meatshield handled the the dungeon like a boss, those traps and spiders never stood a chance! 😆
Please don't give up on making open-world RPGs.
Will there be any balrum updates!?
Work on Balrum 2 please!
We need so much games like that!
We really need a Balrum 2
Really need more out of this someday.
I love watching Colin Robinson play games. Draining us all slowly....
LMFAOOOOO!!!! This shit KILLED ME XD
I love nookrium don’t get me wrong but I can’t I see it now.
actually, Jesus hated horses
I don't get this joke
@@Michaelroni-n-cheese In the TV show 'What We Do in the Shadows', one of the vampire housemates is an 'energy vampire'. Instead of drinking blood, he lives by making those around him angry or bored or frustrated, and drains that energy away. He likes to troll on the internet to get some quick doses of frustration and outrage - he says it's cheap, like junk food, but it fills him up. His name is Colin Robinson.
For a game named Balrum i was expecting way more dancing
lol
I have dread flashbacks to Sid Meier's PIRATES! and the taunting during sword combat, and the absolutely stark terror of ... dancing with Governor Daughters! Oh man.
you absolute Melon! lol 😄
I got this when it came out. For a bargain priced game, it's incredibly detailed. I love the old-school Ultima graphics.
One of the best RPG. You are a village guy. Nothing else.
Not a divine hero nor a superhero barbarian-mage-paladin-whatever. Just a guy :D
Great take! We are an Every-Person, with SKILLS.
OSR time, lol
I really appreciate that approach. The predeterminism gets so formulaic. One of the reasons Oblivion is my favorite ES game is because the player character is not the most important character in the story.
Dungeon Siege 1 you're just a farmer who wishes to farm, but you must kill everything and defeat the evil so you can get back to farming.
I have been wanting a single player Haven n Hearth since HnH came out. Thank you so much for this video!
Balrum would have been even better with an end game. But it doesn't have one. The dev could make a good few sales adding one as a DLC for $8 or $9
Say no more, you had me at fences; instant buy.
this is the type of game I play.... gonna play it this weekend.
it was in my wishlist 4ages, totaly forgot about, now i got it. thanks
Oldie but a goodie, anyone into rpg games this is a must play tbh.
wish ultima online / runescappe would look like this ;d
never heard game, this some older game or smt.. ?
@@Microphunktv-jb3kjIt's a recent game, he mentions it at the beginning of the video. It was released in 2016
@@5minutemovies977I’m also getting old, so I understand…
But we can’t start calling games from 8 years ago “recent”
😊
@@5minutemovies977 um, I hate to remind you, because I’m also old…
but this isn’t recent.
2016 is creeping up on a decade ago
@@joearnold6881 It's crazy but the number of years from now to 2016, is the same number of years from 2016 to 1986 😱😱
This looks like from the same dev that did Eschalon Books 1 to 3. Looks nice.
This game has some serious Dink Smallwood vibes.
I enjoyed Balrum. I made an exact replica of my old childhood house. Just sad it wasn't multiplayer though.
Main downside was no respawning mobs
yah thats why I stopped playing
I really like this game and especially its music "Grasses of Balrum" is probably my favourite game soundtrack
I love how you said this... Jax stay away from that bug! 56:30
My OCD will not allow me to ignore how the sword in the characters hand swaps from left hand to right hand when they change directions... 😢
I just bought it for $3.74 on Steam.
😀
is it worth it, have you had fun with the game or did you play it once and not go back to it?
@1ButtonDash I have been playing it. The game is OK if you like a mystery and don't mind spending a lot of time exploring. I would use speed potions all the time to help cut down the time spent traveling. You can play the game as a warrior, ranger, or wizard. You can also choose a 2nd class by spending skill points. This allows you to train in the other class skills. I started as the ranger and added warrior so I can shoot enemies and then use sword skills when they got close. The archery range is not that good either, but you can do a blinding shot.
I can't be the only one that's pronouncing it Ball Room in their head, right?
But the words Rum and Room do sound different despite similarities.
It’s on sale for the next day or two for like four bucks.
I might give it a go!
This man has a Wilhelm scream to prompt him to tell dad jokes and he just tells the best dad joke of his career without any Wilhelm scream.
That was fun. I hope you post some more, @Nook
i loved this game, installing it again now
after scrolling through 75 videos, i had to stop this video at 2:45 cause i need to download and play this right here! i will come back to this video later but just that sounds like it worth it and something that might be fun before watching videos about it, thanks for the hidden gem, somebody reply in a few days, make sure Im not on 300 hours and havent eaten anything in days lol
Time for a water break!
Looks (and plays) exactly like Eschalon. Huh. Well maybe sans the ad-hoc engine written in some version of basic that looked great but couldn't (iirc) actually render higher screen resolutions due to execution speed and some pretty serious optimization problems w/ a software(?) renderer... but still. Seriously this looks like either the same dev or a pretty direct clone of it, at a higher / bigger scope with *some* added features. Or obviously as an unrelated ultima clone that just somehow ended up with the same artstyle - and ultima gameplay - due to the same shared influences.
This game reminds me the Hero Quest from ZX Spectrum.
its actually the same dev for an rpg game i played on mobile XD its called "exiled kingdom" its pretty good for mobile rpg
Nook played Exiled Kingdoms a couple of years ago
I thought it was going to go "one is disgusted by a rack of lamb, and one is disgusted by a rack of lan"
Hope they make their next game multiplayer. It's a damn shame this one isn't.
Same old Nook. Grandpa talks.. Wayyyy to much for me. Im glad i see you playing this. These are my favorite types. And i havent been by in a long long time
This game looks super cool and l I’ll have to pick it up when I can! Thanks for the awesome video and all the goofy jokes. You got some genuine belly laughs from the dad jokes
my pants are too tight, i think i need more Balrum
You had me at "Rum"
It probably shouldn't but it reminds me of another even more indie RPG Eschalon book 1.
"Rhys" is pronounced "Reece", as in "John Rhys-Davies". "Thaler" is pronounced "tahler". It's where the word "dollar" comes from.
Awesome, did not know that!
youre too smart to be in the youtube comments. be gone from this place.
Looks like a generic RPG with little to no interesting spin gameplay-wise, but god are those visuals stunning. I might even try it for the feel of nostalgia alone. Legend of Sherwood, Stronghold, Commandos.
Bro! I am glad u played this game. I keep dying at the beginning. I am stuck and decided to stop playing 😂
this game uses the same sound for their ruins
as minecraft uses for the deep dark biomes
I would love to see you playing Noble Fates
I’ve played it a couple times on the channel:
th-cam.com/video/e6ofOa6VHRg/w-d-xo.html
diablo and harvest moon are my 2 favorite games...now i have to play
Tell 'em about them fences, Nook
The fences aren't anything special!!
@@Nookrium I meant no offense.
Sorry, my strange sense of humor doesn’t translate well in text, you’re good 😁
You may have meant no offense, but you did mean a fence.
it's a good game
Single player Haven and Hearth? Sold already
Looks interesting, and the type of game I am interested in.
But the fact that you can easily miss-click and start combat with random people is far from ideal.
Most games have a safety switch so that you can only start combat with none-hostile NPCs if you do so deliberately.
This game was interesting but the lack of respawns and how it's segmented into a chapter layout killed it for me.
i have no rum in my bals
Look at my balrum!
I would like multiplayer!
remind me with triloigy eschalon books rpg games
fences!
last i checked this game doesnt have enemy/dungeon respawn so i stopped playing almost immediately when i realized a sandbox RPG wouldnt let me grind. had a lot of potential for me too~
In Da Valley
Wait a rat named Boo has to be a Baldurs Gate reference. Minsc and Boo stand ready
Played it couple years ago i dont remember why i drop it..
Looks heavily inspired by Arcanum.
PREETY GAME
Thank you!
Love this game but its def balanced around fighter class. Hunter is super easy mode and wizard is super hard mode
"Ball room"
Ultima Online vibes!
would have loved this game if enemies respawned
Any other games similar to this??
BALLrum deez nutznomsayin???!
Rhys is pronounced as if it rhymes with fleece.
ballroom
That’s newish 📜 (pardon the pun)
Loose Pants: Balrum
This looks like dink smallwood devs came back and tried again
The moment i saw puzzle, i was like , nope, not buying
oh neat. yeah this has been on my wishlist for a bit now. been waiting to give it a shot. not being able to play a female char has held me back.
this game looks like its released in 1999 ☠
Ultima Online?
Is this Roman inspired? The name seems...Latin?
Rhys is pronounced 'reece'.
What's been keeping me from checking it out is the fact that it has turn based combat, instead of a nice, fun combat system.
I really dont like games where health and other stats start at large numbers.
Fair enough,but why ?
same here, i prefer simple low numbers. high numbers give me a feeling as if im playing one of those trash generic mobile game rpgs where damage is measured in thousands. low and clean numbers make the game feel more professional and makes every digit matter
My brain hates high numbers too ^^ and it feels manipulative. As higher the number, as higher the fun? Like in these incremental games? Why should i be fine with being manipulated into believing i have fun, while on the same time it's just obtrusive and unintuitive gamedesign
After all, DnD heroes don't have that high HP, the players at the table would hate you. Noone wants to have to use a calculator, if it's simply unneeded
/rant over
This looks like Ultima Online, but worse.
You had me until you said turn based.
Turn based games can be a lot of fun
single player... you lost me.
I would not pay money for a game that looks and operates like this. This game looks old for the 90's.
thanks for sharing
You must be new here.
@@sisyr5615 You're welcome.
@@q306005 Not new at all. Nook plays all sorts of games. Some I like, some I don't. Not all of them look like they would be at home in the late 80's or early 90's. I shared my opinion, if you don't like it, you are free to move on and reply to whatever echo chamber you like.
It's the other way around for me, these types of games tend to sacrifice graphics for mechanics, it's always a delight to see one.
Thats a dance 😂😂😂😂
