I am honestly glad that someone asked about sophomore rushing. Because if I can't freshman rush I was worried about whether I would be able to sophomore rush. So thanks for clearing that up. And thanks to the person who asked it.
I encourage all sophomores to rush!! I was MORTIFIED to go into rush as a 21 year old. I just knew to be confident in myself and that would shine through. I really only “lost” like two houses I really liked and kept my mind open throughout the process!!
Girl i lovveedddd this video. I'm almost certain I'm committing to Alabama for the fall! :) I'm super excited about this series!! (especially the rec letter episode, ya girl need that!)
i am at the university of montreal (Canada) and i rushed/ pledged at 30 years old. i decided to go back to school and it happened that one of my best friend/ sorority sister was in the same pledge class as me and she was also 30. it is weird being with younger girls in your pledgeclass but so worth it at the end!
Your rush vlog was the first video of yours I watched and loved your personality! I actually love watching sorority videos even though I'm in grad school now haha😂
I can relate to the philanthropy video crying - my second time rushing (first go-around was a big ol' YIKES) I got to philanthropy round at this one house, and they do a ton of work with our local Children's Miracle Network Hospital, which I'm actually blessed enough to be working at now while I complete my BSN. But they showed in their video for that round, a local child with cancer that they had done a special birthday party for, and as someone who is on the path to being a pediatric oncology nurse, I lost it. I wasn't wailing crying, but I definitely was shedding a few tears. But in a major plot twist, I ended up getting a bid from this house! My bid day buddy told me that seeing me express genuine emotion at what is the heart of what that sorority does, told them that I belonged in their house. I couldn't help but make myself look like a hot mess crying, but it somehow ended up working out perfectly in the end :) I hate crying in front of other people and am normally in such good control of my emotions, so that was a rare and embarrassing moment haha
I'm listening to the part about buying outfits. Besides my faves TJ Maxx and Ross that you mentioned, check out consignment shops. I don't care about brand names but I do find more boutique type things that are more interesting than stuff I find at Ross or TJ Maxx.
I rushed my junior year at 20! I transferred from another college where I rushed there and thankfully didn’t pledge (we only had two houses and Greek life wasn’t a thing) and it wasn’t weird
I only did rush so I could move into the dorm a week early. There was one sorority that I kinda, sorta was interested in, but they didn't give me a bid on Bid Day so I passed on the whole thing. Once my freshman year got going I found my true friend group-- the gamer geeks. I had an amazing experience during all four years of undergrad and didn't regret not pledging one little bit. It just wasn't a good fit for me! Don't feel pressured into pledging if it doesn't feel right for you! Greek life isn't the end all, be all of the college experience, you'll be fine as a GDI. ;)
To add to that genuine question for girls going thru recruitment. You can feel when it’s genuine but when I rushed I was super excited for this one house. Had an awesome conversation and the next convo was awful! She didn’t keep eye contact with me and kept on looking at the clock, didn’t ask me more questions, I felt as if I had to do recruitment for her lol it was disappointing and awkward lol
I am going to be rushing next year at UGA and I'm super excited! Can you pleaseee do a video on rec letters and/or anything else that you did "pre-rush"?
I went to a small school and rushed as a sophomore. In my pledge class there were two other sophomores and also a junior! You definitely have a good chance
Could you be very straightforward/blunt about the realities of actually getting in and my chances of getting in. Or what are some ways to get in. I am going to Alabama in the fall. Because it is right before school starts I just want to honestly know my chances of not getting in to prepare myself so it doesn’t ruin my first few weeks.
Just go into with an open mind and do your best to be yourself! That's the most important part. And even if you don't get in the first time around you can do rush in the spring (at my university that was "informal recruitment" and was a lot more chill. idk if that's how it works at Alabama, but that might be more manageable if you are worried about how stressful and overwhelming the process will be)
ok so I go to a medium sized school and rushed got dropped from every house have a 3.5 and had amazing conversations. I was dropped again doing continuous open bidding. But it only happened too me with bottom houses. Also our greek life sucks and my pi chi told me she has never seen anything like it because she told me I was so sweet and loving with good grades. I will never understand but at least our greek life doesn’t matter.
I'm so glad you have a good outlook on how things worked out and that your pi chi was encouraging to you. I went to a medium school years ago and wasn't interested in Greek life but am connected to alumns now. Through all these youtube channels I have been feeding the curiosity i had during college. The alumn I talked to from my school said at that school they really try to set things up to get every girl who meets gpa requirements into a house - that is if the girl doesn't suicide bid - meaning she doesn't pick the max number when she votes but leaves out some. I try to tell girls if a group doesn't pick them, then they wouldn't want to be in the group anyway.
Supposedly the word "rush" was from the 1920s when students who were upperclass members of fraternities and sororities would rush the train platforms where new students arrived at college. Since the 1990s, the preferred term is recruitment.
It wasn't for me personally. Like I said, I don't really see age with people. I'm just sorta there and living haha! Other people think its weird but I don't let it get to me.
They said the reason i was dropped was because I was married 🤷♀️ honestly after I heard how much it was I wouldn’t have been able to afford it anyways
It’s weird how sorority rush is intense but at least you have ppl you can talk to and you have a Student Mentor(Rho Chi). Frat rush is a free for all bc you can fuck up without even knowing it bc no one is guiding you or telling you how to handle rush like they do in sororities.
I’m a sophomore at community college and I’m transferring to university after this semester and I was wanting to rush when I transfer, but I’m worried I won’t get a bid bc I’ll be a junior. Will that be a problem?
It varies from school to school, and between each chapter!! At my school, a couple years ago our Panhellenic chapters got the requirement that they have to take a certain percentage of sophomores/upperclassmen during each recruitment cycle but that’s not the case at each school. Depending on where you go to school and how competitive the rush environment is, it may be harder to get a bid as a junior (no one likes to admit it, but it’s a reality). The more PC answer is that it shouldn’t matter what year you are but rather how well you connect with the girls of the house. However don’t let that discourage you from going through rush!! It’s an amazing experience and you’ll always end up where you’re meant to be :)
I don't think it would be, but it is ultimately up to the chapter! Some people say that they are looking for more girls to be there all 4 years rather than 2, but it depends on the chapter and university. I think rushing older is something rare and unique that should be more normalized. Good luck through rush!
So one of my sisters transferred to my university as a junior and went through recruitment as a junior and (obviously) got a bid. It is definitely possible!
Choose *Jesus and heaven* instead. You can't have both; you can only choose one. In order to rush, you are in covenant with Greek goddesses, which the Bible calls *idolatry* and a form of sin. The wages (like a paycheck) of all sin is eternal death (hell), but the gift of God is eternal life. To choose God's way that leads to heaven, you need to denounce. Ask Jesus (the Son of God) to come into your heart, believe He is the Son of God, died on the cross, and rose from the dead, and repent (confess all your sins and move *away* from those sins- which is why you need to denounce). God, not Buddha, not Allah (god of moon), not the universe, not astrology/tarot sent His son, Jesus to die a violent death for you to *choose heaven* instead of *choosing hell* . It's a fork in the road and Jesus is either the CEO or *Lord* of your life, or someone else or something else is instead, which leads to hell. Our world will change and none of us are promised tomorrow. Sororities can't save us, only Jesus can. I highly encourage you all to never let *anyone* or *anything* get in the way of God's MAXIMUM will for your life and your eternity. *These* are the *last* days.
This is actually incorrect. I am in a sorority and its foundational principles are Christian based. The letters are written in Greek but that does not mean it has to do with anything Greek mythology related. In fact, the bible was originally written in three ancient languages (Greek, Hebrew and Aramic). Ever since I rushed and joined Alpha Delta Pi I have become more in touch with my relationship with the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We often have bible studies and go to church together. I attribute much of my rebirth into Christianity to my sorority.

This is such a great perspective, and I love so much that you mentioned that it’s totally possible to have a social life still if you don’t rush!
Girl i lovveedddd this video. I'm almost certain I'm committing to Alabama for the fall! :) I'm super excited about this series!! (especially the rec letter episode, ya girl need that!)
Ahh so happy for you!!

I started the process too!
omg i was looking for a comment like this because I'm 29 and I was wondering if I was too old to try. Thanks for sharing!
omg that's crazy! thx for sharing this. I was totally feeling guilty watching all these videos about 1st university life at age 27 lol
@@LaneLakewood sorry for the very late response but yeah, you should definitely try it. You are never too old for an amazing sisterhood 💓
Rush was one of my favorite experiences in college it was so fun and such a great bonding experience
Your rush vlog was the first video of yours I watched and loved your personality! I actually love watching sorority videos even though I'm in grad school now haha😂
Omg! You are so sweet!!
I LOVE anything you can tell us about sororities, here in Spain we don't have anything like sororities and I'm super curious about everything 😍😍😍
I’m so happy I get to share with you!
@@TheLaurenNorris 😍😍😍 I've grown to love bama for yours And Gracie's vlogs And videos 😍😍

girl, are you a Phi Mu!!
My university didn't really have Greek life which has always made me so sad 😩 living vicariously through channels like you, LOL
I am so happy I could help! I don't know what I would do without greek life!
Next year when you’re on the other side of recruitment I’d love to see what it’s like!
YES! I can’t wait to vlog during that time!! (As much as I can atleast!)
I loved your answers to your questions. 😊
I’m in a sorority at a small campus and I’ve never heard of rec letters before in a Greek life context! I’m interested in hearing more about that!
My rec letter video just went live!
I'm listening to the part about buying outfits. Besides my faves TJ Maxx and Ross that you mentioned, check out consignment shops. I don't care about brand names but I do find more boutique type things that are more interesting than stuff I find at Ross or TJ Maxx.
Yes I agree!! Or resale groups on FB
Can't wait to rush at Bama! I'll be a sophomore. Roll Tide! ♥️
Your videos always brighten my day! I can’t wait to go back to bama and recruit new girls into my sorority 💕
You are so sweet, Haley! I am so ready to be back!!

What are some common/basic questions you can anticipate to be asked during the rush process?
They want to get to know you! What you're like, how involved you are/want to be, your personality, etc!
I just discovered you're page and I've been bindge watching since yesterday

I am going to be rushing next year at UGA and I'm super excited! Can you pleaseee do a video on rec letters and/or anything else that you did "pre-rush"?
Yes! My rec letter video will be up Monday at 3pm CST!
( juiverson ) is a pi beta phi at uga, that's her insta, she inspired my sister to rush:)
I love your top! Where did you get it?
I’m going to bama this fall!!!! Your vids have helped me so much omg
Roll tide friend! You're going to love it.
I’m so happy I can help! Roll tide 😍
do sophomores have a good chance of getting a bid if they rush? i didn’t rush this year but i REALLY want to next year. love your vid !
I think they have an equal chance with everyone!! It’s all about your personality!🌟
I went to a small school and rushed as a sophomore. In my pledge class there were two other sophomores and also a junior! You definitely have a good chance

Swimm Swimmm Most girls get a bid if they maximize their options!!

How do you get picked to live in the house?
Usually GPA/point participation system - the more points you have the chance you can live in the house
Also seniority, older girls get the more private rooms/first pick typically
Omggggg did we get hazed when I pledged a sorority 😶😶😶 for over a month
Was it weird that you were older than your big? Because I'm worried that's going to be a problem.
Disney Girl it is not weird. In my opinion, As long as you have a great relationship with her, that’s all that matter ;)
It wasn't for me personally. Like I said, I don't really see age with people. I'm just sorta there and living haha! Other people think its weird but I don't let it get to me.
What GPA do you need to get bids??
Depends on the house and university!
That’s me watching you and wanting to be like you
I got dropped first night when I went through recruitment
I would always try again this year or COB!
They said the reason i was dropped was because I was married 🤷♀️ honestly after I heard how much it was I wouldn’t have been able to afford it anyways
Katie Layne I hope that’s not true!! I’m married and want to go through recruitment
Catherine Aiello thats just what they told me. Some schools may be different. Idk
What does PNM stand for ????
Love your videos

i’m looking into rushing when i attend college in the fall but i am TERRIFIED of hazing!!! am i overreacting?
Ask the sororities if they haze. Most universities have a strict ban on hazing
Why are you so pretty
