Nice video - the paths have only been surfaced like that for the last 12-18 months. I think the average time (and attendance) reflects the fact that we used to be famous for our mud and puddles. It was much more of a "specialist interest" course. One section was called "shoe sucker straight" as people actually lost shoes there in the slop! It's now much, much faster (and busier). That first corner is tight with these sorts of numbers. Much easier when we had 150 people! Next time you come, bring your swimming trunks and join the swimmers in the beautiful lake after your run. It's best in the winter as the water is spring-fed and super clear!
Thanks Tim. Wild to hear about how the course used to be! I noticed a few people when I was there gearing up for a dip in the lake, I don't mind a cold plunge, but I don't think i'd last much over a minute in the winter months!
Glad you enjoyed it, I go every week apart from this one as wasn't well. I think you understand the course better than me though I find the laps confusing! 😅 It's a great atmosphere down there I love it. All the best.
Colwick has been very busy recently because there are a couple of courses nearby that are closed. I think one of them is back open now so hopefully it quietens down a bit. Great run!
Thanks Stu. Agreed they are getting busier, which is a good thing in many respects. Some courses (like Braunstone) have been able to adjust start / finish to accommodate. I think Colwick could have similar options to make the start wider. It’s the only reason I could see why times here aren’t much quicker as it’s such a flat course.
Yes! I ran that last year, one of the earliest video's on my channel. I went there specifically to get a new lifetime 5k PB and got it! It stood for a few months before Abbey Park in Leicester took the crown!
You passed me at 3:11 on this video, light blue shirt, black shorts, orange Kiprun socks and blue Puma trainers! I finished in 24.19, 3rd MV60-64 category, 78th overall position. My PB is 23.12 at Colwick. The start is critical, as you say... Locals don't pronounce the W in Colwick and say it like Collick, BTW 😃 Good run from yourself 😊
Thank you. I did fear that it might be pronounced differently, but I just erred on the side of caution with saying how it looked. Had a couple more like this such as Belvoir, but I knew that was pronounced 'Beaver' and also Skatas in Sweden, but I asked the receptionist on the hostel reception about that one and I am glad I did, that ended up being pronounced 'Scot Oars'. Good running by yourself also! I hope I can still run those types of times when I am in the MV60-64 age group!

Thank you. Yes the atmosphere was very good. Bumped into a few really friendly locals too which is always a bonus. Hope you are feeling better.

Great run!
Yes it looks to have had a bit of a step change in attendance since January when Beeston was paused. Appreciate the comment!
Parkrun is getting busier so more courses are congested at the start 🙈 great running 👌

@@RunSDJ Long Eaton probably the fastest near to Nottingham, dead flat but a wider start than Colwick
