    What a great video. Very interesting information. My father-in-law said most old barns were made using hemlock but never explained why. There are plenty of unpainted barns still around after a hundred years or more. That's a testament to the durability of hemlock as an exterior wood. I really enjoy when you educate us about your products. Thanks Emerald!

    Hi girls! I watched this one on my phone so I get to comment. Let's start w quality, Em, you've got the company spokesperson nailed! Jade, you're an excellent camerawoman, you hold and guide the camera so smoothly and steady! I think you do excellent cartwheels too! Now, let's find someone to play frisbee w your German Sheppard! I loved that y'all are selling the different woods at the same price, that's got to help your business. I think dad is superhuman doing the whole 9 yards, from cutting the logging road to falling to clearing and loading - every aspect of getting logs to the yard except hauling them. Talk mom into getting a cdl and she can haul them. Full circle! Love ya'lls channel, great job! I'm in NC.

    From a purely economical perspective the price charged for wood should be based on the cost to log the trees, the cost to mill that lumber . The factors should be equipment and maintenance and the salaries ( even though this is a family business the factor for salaries should be competitive ) and the time in inventory. Unfortunately all big box stores don't set prices like this, their prices are set by what the market will bear, I really enjoy the videos and love to look at it from a business perspective as well. Thanks for this

    • @JT_70
      @JT_70 ปีที่แล้ว

      That overlooks how much more expensive it can be to grow hardwoods vs softwoods and how readily available each type of wood is (not to mention the attractiveness and usefulness of each type). Pine, for example, can be farmed and ready to cut in 20 years. Oak may take 40 years.

  • @Billbobaker
    @Billbobaker ปีที่แล้ว

    I like red Oak for flooring, furniture and decking.. . it is rot resistant.
    Hemlock is my leaste fave... it smells bad. Pine is good for framing and even some flooring and cabinets or furniture.

    Great video. I don't know if you have tamarack or not but that is one I like to use it in or outside. It has a reddish hue. I do like hemlock when you find a mill around here has it. Tamarack is rot resistant because it likes to grow in lowlands. Bye the way how are the cutting boards going . Definitely interested. Again great job.

    You live so far away from bc Canada, otherwise I would be there to load up to take advantage of those prices.
    Hemlock is extremely expensive up here found most in trimming, other rot resistance wood preference in our province is red cedar for fence and some shingles in the south east, swamp tamarack for fence posts up north in the acidic areas, west coast is fir for city fences unless someone has the coin for red cedar, yellow cedar posts from large logs due to the twisting growth and wind check splits etc.
