Hey Grant! I recently discovered your channel, these videos have been very helpful, thank you! You have some great recommendations. And I love your attitude, you're very positive and upbeat. Keep it up!
Love the picks - while Wilmot's Warehouse didn't rank as high as many of the other games on your list for me (CB) - it was def one of the most unique of the year. The most unique game for me may be one that I'm still trying to get to the table - City of the Six Moons, by Amabel Holland - who always hits home runs in the unique category with games like Doubt Is Our Product and others on the list!
Very good idea for a top 10 list. We have played Message from the Stars and like that one. I am really interested in that Xylotar game. Need to see if I can find it.
I tried Nunatak: Temple of Ice at PaxU 2023 and had a lot of fun with it. We own A Message from the Stars but haven't played it yet. Tether and Fromage are ones I'm planning to pick up asap.
Mark my words Grant, I will create a plethora of unique games that I hope will end up on one of these lists sometime in the not too distant future. Remember my name 😁
I know you are not asking for it but I still would like to give you a very good piece of advice, once you have a prototype of your game, take it to game stores and conventions and put it on the table with the rule book, and ask someone to invite people to give it a try and learn it from the rule book, once they are about to be done with it, walk by pretending you are a bystander and ask the people at the table what game it is and what they think about it? also ask them whether it's easy to learn from the rule book? that is called a blind testing, never tell them you are the Creator because they will feel obliged to make you feel good and prais the game even if they didn't like it. ;)
Why do most channels never mention the designers names, only the publishers? I get that you get sent free copies of these games, so you have to mention the publisher's name, but that doesn't mean you can't mention the designer too. Celebrate designers, not publishers.
I can't tell you why other channels do it, but I can tell you why I do it. It's because I'm trying to make it as easy as possible for people to find the game if they want to get it. You can find a game for sale through a publisher, but you can't find it for sale through the designer. I'm not trying to celebrate the publisher, I'm just trying to help the viewer.
@GrantLyon It's very interesting how you and Tom Vasel gave me the same nonsensical reply, so I'm going to give you the same answer I gave him. The average Joe doesn't recognize any of these publishers nor the designers when buying in-store, and as for us, "gamers", we mostly buy from dedicated online stores and we really don't care about publishers as much as we care about the designer behind the game. We get excited when our favorite designers come up with new games, not when publishers publish them. Bottom line, it doesn't hurt to name the designer who put their heart and soul into creating these games.

Great list! Best tiny hands game is Stuff Yer Face. I had so much fun with my kids. Only available on the used games market.

Will there be a Top 9 Games That Didn't Make a Top 10 List?
I played 300 games this year, so there could be a Top 225 games that didn't make a Top 10 List haha
W
Yeah
Thank you
