    Oh my gosh, I wish I had known about the Lasso method a few projects ago. Thank you so much! I've started from your very first Flosstube and planning on going thru each one. What a wealth of knowledge you are imparting.

    I only recently started watching your videos, and I'm so glad I did! I've been stitching for 35+ years, but since I am self-taught, I never knew if I was "doing it right." You've taught me some things and given me affirmation of some things as well. I'll continue to watch as I love learning and your style is so enjoyable. Thank you so much, Jean!! (It's now Feb of 22)

    Thanks for doing these videos-like many I am back to cross stitching from 1980's 1990's, and have forgotten some techniques. I am so enjoying cross stitching again. I actually remembered your name from all those years ago.

    Thank you so much for demonstrating the lasso method. I could have used that MANY times in the past and probably will in the future. What I've been doing is frogging out more than necessary just so I could have a longer tail to bury. This has been one of those "aha" moments. Jean, you never fail to offer at least one tip for me in each of your videos and I sincerely hope you keep doing them, if time allows for you. I've been going backwards when it comes to viewing your videos. hahaha But, regardless, the backs of my pieces are so much neater now. I had asked you a question some time ago in one of your "future" videos about travelling threads and you answer was perfect, but as I watch more, I can't even tell where I've buried the thread! Again, thank you so much for all that you do and for the information you offer. You are an amazing teacher!! Have a great day and please take care. Hugs from Canada! PS LOVE those samplers behind you and will be watching for the charts to come out.

    A lesson in every video. First the Victorian cross, then measuring fabric (so many new stitchers have this question), now the “lasso” (which I already use). Looking forward to more. Love that you share your vast knowledge with us.

    Thank you again! I constantly play chicken with my thread and try to squeeze in that last stitch and then have a short tail that I struggle to get in by pushing the needle through and trying to thread the eye with what I have left -a real chore. I definitely will be using the lasso method! It will make it easier for sure. I love these videos. I actually do stitch in hand on occasion now due to your teaching. I love to use it for outlines which previously I thought were boring to do. But on the rest of design I usually pop on a hoop and do the old method. I have been stitching for 35+ years so a hoop or Q snap is like a comfortable habit but definitely the stitching in hand is great for outlines or anytime I want to change things up.

    Hello Jean, from Independence, Ohio! Thank you for your teaching video's! I enjoy the other ladies and their blah, blah, blah, as this certainly is entertaining and I love seeing what they are accomplishing, however, as a brand new cross stitcher at 62 years old, I am enjoying and LEARNING from your video's, thank you - great job!! In just three (3) of your video's 1, 2, & 4, I've learned a ton! As with everything I do, I am self taught, and I will register for a class in the fall with our local shop to gain more tips and tricks! I am a quilter and have tried over my younger days, embroidery, crochet, knitting and clothing sewing, and never really tried cross stitch! I must tell you, I find it extremely relaxing! I completed my first small piece "Pumpkin Topiary" and let me tell you. . . .ugh, however, it looks nice on the front and only I know where the mistakes are! I will frame it out no one will be the wiser! I just wanted to reach out to say thank for sharing your years of expertise with us newbies, your teaching style has helped me and I will continue to watch you! Stay safe and healthy, God Bless!

    I’m so glad to have found your TH-cam channel. I never thought to use thread to find the starting place on fabric. I always use straight pins or a 1” or 2” quilt ruler. This is better for when you know you don’t have as much fabric as you would like.

    Jean, your floss tube videos are the best I have seen, very well put together. The information you have provided is invaluable. I started cross stitching in June this year and am now on my second project. My first was on 10 count Aida and my second is a small floral design on 32 count even weave linen. I prefer the linen but will probably stitch designs that appeal regardless of ground fabric required. Thank you again, I’m checking out the cruise 😊

    • @JeanFarishNeedleworks
      @JeanFarishNeedleworks  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In general, a project that is shown done on Aida can be done on linen. You are wise to choose designs that appeal to you; many projects are left undone when the needleworker loses interest!

      Remember, that it's okay if you don't stitch in hand. But if you really want to master it, think about trying a small project. It's easiest with a small piece of fabric. Take your time and be patient with yourself.

    Thank you for another great, helpful video. I learned something new with each technique you showed. Being able to cleanly stitch the double rows...Yay!...instead of meandering and fussing with it. Same with the vertical rows. I've just jumped from here to there or wherever to make it work. This is great. The lasso will be much easier than using my de-tailor. With the de-tailor I have to get the wire under the sitches first, catch the floss end, then pull the wire back through/under the stitches again. The lasso will be much quicker and easier. Thank you.

    Your videos are very easy to follow and have lots of good, new information for me. If you could, when you show a piece you are working on could you mention the fabric count and color and also the threads? thanks so much

    Thank you for your lesson on lasso. I've played chicken but didn;t know what to call it.
