You make a very interesting point about Ishamael, unlocking Mat’s memories from past lives… If so, it would make more sense than the book explanation of the “old blood” (prior to the Finns) and it would be interesting if this was an unintended consequence, and that Ishy had only been hoping to show Mat that life is suffering… 9:56
I like the idea that Ishy assumed it would lead Mat to the dark, but his Ta'veren nature twisted the pattern for the better. Maybe not Mat's immediate benefit, but to the long term gain of Mat and everyone else.
My take on mat / ishamael was a bit different - i thought it was a lie (he is the father of lies!) and that the 'tea' was a sleeping draught and ishy played with his dreams but i could be wrong. First watch of this episode i wasnt sure but enjoyed it on a re-watch.
See that’s the problem of jumping straight on to record after a single watch. This makes a lot of sense. Lots of foreshadowing with the hanging scene though.
Humm my thoughts are Mat was sleeping when he spoke with Ishmael. And he was fooled into thinking he was awake and actually drinking the tea. He’s in the dream world and has been taken advantage of. Thinking what he’s seeing is actually happening hence the tea ☕️ 😊
I wish we could have gotten Lan going to Caihrien and spending some time training Rand. There could’ve been some great dialogue between Lan and Rand, and it would’ve made the final realization with Logain more impactful and believable, and it would make Rand’s growth into a fighter important and believable. I think they could have had Moiraine send Lan away back to the tower when she left to go kill Lanfear if that needed to happen. It would’ve given Lan much better plot development, and it feels to me like everything else would have fit…
Yeah. I like the payoff of this whole Lan side quest. But the initial part never really sat well with me. There’s certainly a way they could’ve done it more effectively.
I loved this Episode, even when so much other Bookfans whine about. I don't get the whine. But I'm also over the though that this show is anything like the Books, since 1x04
I’ve been pretty happy with the whole thing so far. Though it’s fair to say this season is much better than the first. In terms of story book vs show. I think it’s closer than most people admit. The same Grand arc is taking place and we’re seeing new parts and missing others. But the essence of the books is there and specifically this season I’ve noticed there’s at least one scene per episode that feels lifted out of the books. Even if that scene isn’t in the same place as the book. The content is still book accurate. I’m really enjoying that.
@@nerdtheorists a few of the changes are good... particularly the villains i am loving show Lanfear so much that i am almost team forsaken at this stage
Couldn’t agree more. Big fan of both forsaken so far. And they’re so different from each other which is brilliant too. Not just carbon clones with the same goals.
Good episode and all in service of plot at the moment. Barthanes turn was lovely, Vernin is fantastic carefully written and subtly acted and our forsaken continue to knock it out of the park.I still feel some aspects of the show are rushed but I also feel part of that is having a major lead walk away from the show and trying to course correct. I would have liked to have Perrin and the girls spot the whitecloaks this episode just to cement they're in and about falme before next week but the episode was solid so not a huge miss.
I wouldn’t be surprised if that maybe hit the cutting room floor in favour of Aviendha’s beating. I think I’d have chosen the whitecloaks over a lesson in Aiel honour given the choice. But it was all good to be fair.
@@nerdtheorists I think it probably is on the cutting room floor. Its a shame cause building up Valda and the Bornhalds would lay some good ground work for the future. I'm still excited for Falme though.
I do think we need a little More time with daddy bornhald in order to truly understand dain some more. Hopefully they’ll get a decent scene or two next week.

@@nerdtheorists yup the hanging scene could well be a premonition of the Finn. To be honest i don't mind being unsure what will happen next :)

Im genuinely excited each week because I don’t know quite what is going to happen next and that’s a wonderful thing!
Yeah this is mostly likely the case on second watch. :-)
Next week, and consequently season 3, can't come soon enough!
Absolutely! The wait for season 3 is going to be sooooo long!
