- SPM results are coming out soon? are you guys excited to know your results? In today's video, I'm going to share some things that I wish I knew before entering into med school (it might have changed my decision :P, just kidding). I thought to share this with those who are considering medicine and becoming a doctor (especially the SPM graduates). I know it's hard for you guys during this pandemic and the sources that you can reach out to physically are limited right now, I hope this video helps! Another truth is doctors nowadays can get jobless (contract system in Malaysia), don’t even think of earning a lot money. Passion is a thing but you still need to consider the reality of this field.
Yes ,medical healthcare system recently in MSia is really bad.especially for houseman placement and posting.however,please continue your goal regardless how’s d system and it may change when u are graduate later..step by step ,plan n pass throughout d whole journey.
How much does a doctor earn in malaysia ?and also Can I ask you how many hours per shifts do resident doctors work in malaysia

I would not recommend anyone who would like to venture in medicine. It's a very high stress low reward career at least in Malaysia, spoken from my own experience working as Doctor in Malaysia.
Hi Katherine, I'm an SPM leaver who is on the fence about studying medicine. Thank you for producing these videos and not sugarcoating the reality of practising medicine in Malaysia. Researching online has helped me to see beyond the mostly incorrect views I used to have so I can make a clear decision about my future career, even if it means (for now) setting aside my dreams of becoming a doctor. It's better to be realistic than to be blindly naive.

Honestly, be a doctor is one of the hardest part ever. We spend so much on studying the voluminous of subject. A lot saccrifice oof sweat, tears, money and all time consuming. But trust me, everything get worth.🎀
I totally agree with that, I personally love knowing how to safe patient with those knowledge so that's why when I learn it I feel as if the more I know the more people I get to help

have you ever cried from the stress of being in medical school? like does it really take a toll on you? because i'm considering to get into medical school too but i'm scared that i might not be able to handle the stress
Tbh yes i did hahaha in the uni cause there are time where i feel overwhelmed but I always feel better after crying, i might feel even worse if I suppressed my feeling 🤫
If you compare working vs studying (medical), you will miss your study days in uni once you start working. Trust me.

Stumbled upon this when I was trying to find a Malaysian video for my British hubby to show him how the Malaysian accent sounds like 😝. But the topic of your video caught my eye and I thought it would be interesting to hear what others think of studying medicine. Have finished medical school quite some time ago back in 2010 and specialised in GP in UK before migrating to Aussie. Love how accurately you described the journey of studying medicine esp the continuous learning journey in medicine, learning based on experience rather than books. Love how you say we cannot memorise everything because that is so true! This video surely goes give insight into the journey medics go through and definitely would be so helpful for those who are thinking of embarking on medicine as a career. Very interesting video indeed and I agree with every points mentioned 👍👍

My sister currently undergo housemanship at hospital sungai buloh selangor, sometimes i feel pity on her because she didn’t get enough sleep. I notice that the working hours is too long. She went to hospital at 6.30 am and go back to home on 11.00 pm someting like that. Sometimes she say that she don’t ever get enough time to eat, and even pray. Because there is too many patient at hospital. 🥺
and yes this is one of the things that turn me off hahahha
Sg Buloh HOs are currently reposted to other Klang Valley hospitals around S'gor as HOs are not allowed to manage or expose to covid patients.
I have met a few who came to mine, and they tell me Sg Buloh is easy compare to current hospital.
The busiest hospital in Klang Valley is HKL and Klang.
If sg buloh also cannot survive, how to survive MOship esp sabah sarawak where you get thrown there for recent batches who complete training?
@@MAA-ml1zi truely agreed:)I did my housemanship in Htar Klang,learned up lots thr, gud teachers ,seniors , specialist,lots patients to review daily .A place which is d best I would say to start ur housemanship with.if anyone can survived housemanship in Htar KLANG ,I believe they can handle any cases in medical field in future.I rarely eat n drink especially in medical and emergency dept.important all young drs must learn up and dun complain too much .Dr means to help d needy and sacrifices definitely thr in life :)

Hi Jeffrey! My preclinical experience in IMU is like maximum 5 hours normally include problem based learning session, clinical skill session, 2 lectures. Other day maximum only 3 hours (lecture, slides viewing, MMS session). This is roughly what I rmb, it's been awhile since I left IMU dy hehehe. Hopefully someone currently studying in IMU will reply you too!
so instead of having hectic lecture we will have more self study time everyday since daily lecture is only like 5hr？

Hi Katherine! My foundation timetable happens to have 6 hours on one day of a week... Is that even normal? 😂Normally other days are 4 to 5 hours

Hi can u give me some advice? My spm result not so good leh especially on science subject, I only got C and D.. But I really want to be a doctor and I have passion in medic field.. But with my spm result, can I be a doctor in Malaysia?
before med degree will have to do pre-university ( etc stpm, matriks, alevels, foundation) first, so maybe can try to score a better grade in pre-university?

yes credit transfer, self-sponsored, IMU don't provide scholarship for partner medical school unfortunately and JPA only provide full scholarship for local program

A-levels is a UK based examination, it's a pre-university program, it is 100% exam based exam (means that the exam will be based on how well you do on the written exam paper, similar to SPM). Basically there are two part in alevels (AS and A2, each carries 50% of your final results), AS are basics, some you already learn in your high school, A2 is way much harder than A2. Normally people aim to get a very good mark in AS, in case they don't do well in A2. It may take sometime for me to make a video and I reckon that you hope to know about Alevels ASAP as you just got your SPM exam results. I have a video explaining about different kind of pre-university program (I've mentioned about Alevels in there). And may I know which uni are you going into, are you keen on going into IMU (Foundation in Science)?

@@katherinelim6060 thank u so much am im not sure which uni I'm enrolling to cuz my chemistry is C+ and to do Mbbs I need to get min B so I have applied to remark and in case my gred didnt change I have to do A levels my final choice so I'm not sure which uni allows student to do Mbbs from A level
Alevels are internationally recognized, most uni accepts them, even the local universities accept them. People who got very good results in alevels can even apply into those top unis

No it's not, in fact there's quite a significant amount of people only decide to go to medschool after 30!
I am being offered to medical school at 31 years old. It is not too late.
