- Keeping up with my goal to make an acrylic painting every month! Even though I made this one a little while back. haha Anyway, strawberries today! Trying to make them look delicious and juicy. Also, i'm not kidding about background color suggestions, I am ALL EARS!

I have never felt relaxed while painting. It makes me feel like I'm mud wrestling with a steer.

My process always starts out nice and calm while blocking in colours, then it turns to the mud wrestle of “oh god this looks horrible, how do I fix it” before finally going back to calm after a few hours as it starts to come together

Fun fact about strawberries! So fruits are categorized as fleshy or dry. Fleshy fruit are the typical fruits you think of like watermelon, bananas, berries, citruses, etc. and they have soft tissue around the seed. Dry fruits include legumes, lotus pods, nuts, the helicopter seed pods, acorns, etc. And they have hard tissue around around the seeds.
BUT! Strawberries are actually considered dry fruits and because each of the little seeds you see is their own individual fruit! Each seed has their own ovary so they are their own fruit. The fleshy part of the strawberry is just accessory tissue! Strawberries are a type of fruit called an achene which also includes sunflower seeds, dandelions, and quinoa!

I feel like the light blue background would honestly look good on all three paintings personally. Plus it also would feel more like a sky tone which would fit the plants as well in an outdoorsy sort of way.

for the strawberry bg, I'd say either a light blue, deep blue, light yellow or a lavender color could work! if not, im sure somebody else has better suggestions :]
though I'd usually mainly go for the lighter colors, yet if they don't work definitely try some deep ones!
for the watermelon, the turquoise didn't look terrible! though maybe, you could take it into a digital app/software and play around with some bg colors, (you could also do the same with strawberry if needed!) then decide which one you like best and what compliments it more!

I was thinking lavender as well! Maybe a little desaturated to allow the really saturated strawbs and flowers to pop
Yess, I agree with both of you, wat this bg colour needs is to be more desaturated, to let the fg stuff pop & show a little bit of a depth in the image. But since the other 2 have light blue & light pink bgs, I would say not blue again.. maybe a lavender or a brown-ish/gold-ish tone could be the ideal we're looking for:)
I was thinking lavendar for the strawberries as well, I think that'd look really good
I was thinking a desaturated lilac or purple, more on the cooler side since red is already a very warm color! But if you don’t want to strawberry to pop as much, then a more warmer lilac or purple!
Funny I was thinking either a bright or deep blue, too!
I would say to use a light blue background, but the orange one already have one, so... A lilac background may work?

I was also thinking lilac would be super cute for the strawbs! the watermelon is tricky because you don't wanna have the same colors right next to each other and you don't wanna use the same color as the other paintings. maybe like a sea foam or something along those lines. not sure if that would be to close to the background on the orange painting though.

my aunt loved art so much and it was something we bonded over. a few years ago she moved across the country and i haven’t been able to see her for 6 years. every time i draw i miss her but… you sound like her. your style is like hers and i always watch you while i draw because it makes me feel like she’s here and i love that. 💕

it's so interesting to me that you've never seen a strawberry cause I always thought that it's one of those plants that grow basically anywhere where it's warm. Where we live it grows all over the woods and meadows and I've spent half of this summer just collecting strawberries in the woods with my kindergarden kids lmao

If you’re still looking for color suggestions, and still want a yellow, I think a pastel yellow for the strawberry would look nice. Not in your face, but still complementary to the red & green of the strawberries.

I enjoy watching people paint and seeing how different they do things from how I do them.
For the background of the strawberry 🍓 painting I can absolutely see a peachy/salmon color
My recommendation for a different color for the background would be a pastel purple, on the color wheel it's near red but not to close and it's the opposite on the color wheel to green meaning it looks great together like blue and yellow in your lemon painting =)

For the background color I think that a dark teal on the bluer side would pair nicely and would definitely make those white flowers "pop".

Considering colors: you seem happy with the oranges and there you chose complementary colors? Maybe thats the way to go but than you risk having similar background colors for the strawberry and melon which seems fine to me caus you can hang them on the edges as framing paintings for the organge one --- so they would be symetrical ^^

I can't explain how much I love your videos, I feel like I'm hust hanging put with you watching as you just have fun with art, I can see you are just doing something that brings you joy and not try to be perfect, and it makes art look so easy. i haven't done any art for months and now I did one drawing, I still don't feel like trying out somethig new (I ususaly feel very tired to do anything because of work and well...depression) and when I look up ideas to what to pain, i start to have anxiaty thinking, that I can never do anything like that, and that there is too many things I could do, and I also geg very sad fhag I haven't been doing any art. Your videos are so inspiring to go back and do something, and not be scared to mess it up 🥰

I have actually owned strawberry plants twice in my life. They are seriously easy to grow and sooo cute.
