In this video we talk about all the issues we had while out in Sandhollow, from body damage to broken suspension system that need upgraded. Hope you enjoy the video.
It's a Jeep, Josh. Jeeps are never done! I'm glad you guys had a great time. Sand Hollow has some of the nastiest trails I've ever seen. The buggy trails are insane! Looking forward to your SH videos. 😃
Very true Dallas. That setup served us well the past few year. Just time for some improvements! 😂. And I absolutely love it out there. I still can’t get over how much traction there is and what you can actually climb!
Seen you on some gnarly trails in the east so Sand Hollow must be tough. Look forward to the video and fixing the issues. Thanks for sharing, and go BUCKS!
Parts fatigue out especially if they are built border line weak to start with. If it were me I would fabricate overbuilt those parts with larger bolts . Thicker brackets.. Then it is off to finding the next weak point. Thank You for the videos.
Great point on the fatigue. I need to be more understanding that things don’t last forever and not to overreact when things break. But I definitely agree with your points to overbuild the new components and especially with the larger bolts!
I’ve found much of hardware provided from many manufacturers to be sub par. Bad Beadlock bolts from Dirty Life and I’ve also broken the same FUCA bracket from RK. I buy 10.9 plated metric hardware from Bellmetric now for my JLU. I have been much happier with my IRO joints now.
Yeah we’ve ran into those hardware problems on a few things. That was a grade 8 bolt that went. But also had 5yrs on it. And I’m happy I’m not the only one that broke that FUCA mount. When I broke the 1st one a few years back I spent forever trying to get the binding out but every adjustment I made I couldn’t get it out, just slightly better. I’ll be checking out that 10.9 hardware for sure on the next build/rebuild.
I used to get 10pm-go in my 05 Cummins just towing my 2 door jk. So I’d say you’re doing pretty good. And I have the Barnes diy 3 link front and rear with the same kings as you and it works great without binding. I’d recommend it unless you really want to go all out with the 4 link and longer coils. I have a video of it on my channel.
Mpgs sound about right. I was getting 7/8mpg with the 42’ Tri axle with my Sami, nicks CJ, and Theresa’s rzr. I think it’s time to cut the body a tube out the rear! Make all the room for some flex 🤪
MPG are definitely within average then. We got 7/8 with our 40’er and the camper, and 2 Jeeps. And I’m slowly liking the idea of tubing out the back. But still finding a way to keep the Jeep look in the back.
How did it compare to Moab, it seems to me, (haven't been to Sand Hollow) but seems like you can kinda do what you want at Sand Hollow vs ALWAYS having to stay on trail in Moab. Great video and see you down the road if you come to TN. The major difference Ive seen between West/East coast wheeling is traction. Harder East coast to hit and keep a line, West coast puts SO MUCH pressure and stress on your rig because it does grip so well! When you turn or climb it holds and no slide so it binds. MPG in my 99 7.3 is about 11
So sandhollow is a lot harder then Moab. Pritchett canyon would be like a 7rated trail in SH. But the obstacle are right after each other in SH where Moab you typically get a little break in between which i enjoy that break. And you can definitely go anywhere you want in SH definitely no stay the trail there. The best way I can compare the 2 is. If you want to enjoy trail riding and views then Moab is where it’s at. If you want to challenge yourself and the rig the SH. We will definitely need to link up sometime and hit some trails together! And it seems like the MPG thing is very similar for most. I’ve heard people brag before about getting 15mpgs pulling that much weight, but I’ve never see that much yet.
I’ll have to see what I can find for that! Just buying a tank to put in the back was 1700$ or even more depending on the company. So I think I like the 3link rear idea!
I’ll back you up on wheeling east vs west. Hands down better and harder wheeling in the west!! My 19 f450 gets 10 mpg pulling 2 Jeeps. 3500 ram about the same.
I love the west way too much man. I’m always wondering why I live in Youngstown Ohio. Maybe one day we will move to the other side of the country. And it seems like I’m on par for the gas mileage. I’ve heard a lot of people say they get 13-14mpg before and I’m always wondering how.
@@leemen good point on that. Maybe they just drive really slow. We typically run around 70-72mph. And when ur out west and the speed limit 75-80, 70mph feels like your not even moving. 😂
So I like your vids and you guys rock....but I bet a lot of your problems are your welds themselves....if you look at your rear axle weld at about 4:49....that ain't great. Not trying to beat you up at all but if your links keep ripping off yes could have some binding but with welds like that....I would be worried about blue trails
Thanks so much. And good eye! I was worried about my welds at first too. But 5 years we’ve luckily never had one of my weld break yet. Fingers crossed 🤞. We’ve had one of the companies suspension kit welded parts break at their weld once. But all the other times we’ve had problems it actually rips the solid metal either behind or in front of welds and not at the weld. They also use 3/16” metal for their brackets so that acts like a fuse.
First off…i dont even know you anymore with your east coast vs west coast bs… 😂 Second off…3 link front and rear with jonny joints on ALL link ends, no more of that evo garbage… Third off…limit straps bruhhhhh 😂
West coast all day! 🤣. And you’ve been yelling at me for a while to do that and I think your wish is finally coming true. Just need the cash and time. But it won’t happen till the major life event we have coming up. And limit straps are for quitters. 🤣
Great perspective. I haven't been out west and can't wait to have the opportunity. Thank you for sharing.
You will love it out west. I would definitely do Moab first!

Absolutely. Sandhollow definitely challenged us and our Jeeps. We just need to figure out a time when we can make the needed upgrades!! GO BUCKS!!

Ahhh sweet thanks. I’ll definitely check it out on your channel!
Was there any videos on the Sand Hollow wheeling?
Not yet. We got a ton of footage, just gonna start putting together all those vids here soon. Probably will start coming out in a couple weeks.

Good Stuff! God I wish I could get the Mistress done! So close to getting back to it!
Get back to it man. I need to get back on the other project too. But life events have kept me away from touching ours.
I think someone makes a 3 link kit for the rear so you can work around that tank.
I’ll have to see what I can find for that! Just buying a tank to put in the back was 1700$ or even more depending on the company. So I think I like the 3link rear idea!
When are we rebuilding the blue jeep?
Probably when I have $4k to burn. Lol
Barns has kits to help you make your link setups for front and rear.
Thanks man! I’ll definitely be checking them out when it’s time!
We had a blast….. you guys are welcome anytime 🤘🏼😎
Thanks so much Pete! You definitely helped making it epic!

@@Ohio_offroad_adventures I think my mpg could get up to 13 or better if I ran 55mph. But that’s not an option.
@@leemen good point on that. Maybe they just drive really slow. We typically run around 70-72mph. And when ur out west and the speed limit 75-80, 70mph feels like your not even moving. 😂
@@Ohio_offroad_adventuresI’m the same. I run 70 75 everywhere I go. Even if the limit is 80. Or 60 for that matter. Lol.
