this will help you fill out the V55
also, you will need to get insurance on the v.i.n number I have found bike sure to be the best and have had no problems getting my bikes insured.and you will need the old title or an age-related
document or you may get Q plate or no plate

If you don't have it registered and with plates how can you get an MOT? Can you get one following registration?
Hi you will need to use your vin number for your MOT and for your insurance then you’re good for registration hopefully

I phoned dvla and asked if i should send an insurance document for 2x cb1100r,i explained i was struggling to get insurance on 7:08 the frame no.the nice lady said"we dont check insurance" i said" so i dont need it?"she said "we dont check insurance".

hi glad this vid was of some use getting insurance on frame/VIN number should be no problem I always use bikesure insurance and have always found them helpful. but the DVLA have made some changes to there paperwork so I will do another vid on this in the new year thanks again for taking the time to watch the vid.

Hi sorry it's taken me till now to get back to you registration should be simple if you have the old reg docs you will need to MOT and insure your scooter and fill out the forms I'm not sure if you will need to pay import duties hope this helps
Hi I bought my 1963 Yamaha yg1 from the UK I got it off eBay didn't come with a licence plate I am going to restore it very hard to try and get the original licence plate keep looking me about any tips I know it needs re registering the woman told me that after all the time of trying to get the plate but any tips on trying to get it mate I'd love to be able to get on the road this year

You can insure a vehicle on the VIN, then update it once you've got the registration number.

l have a 1983 Motorbike now 41yrs old import from USA ,Registered UK IN 1993 on V5, They gave a 1983 Y number plate to the bike which is correct for the year ,How do you go on at the post office
In order to CLAIM HISTORIC CLASSIC, if they only see the registered date of 1993 and say this is only 31yrs old according to the registered date on the V5, as there is no Manufactures date of the bike on the V5..and yet they have given a 1983 number plate for the bike when it was registered ? telling me someone has already done the this. .. If anyone has had this problem with an import please let me know and how did you get on...Cheers

Hi, I'm trying to register a bike from 1970 but i'm not sure about a couple of details. Firstly, do i put the tax class down as Historic tax class because it's over 40 years old or do i put motorcycle. Second thing is, since historic tax class vehicles do not require an MOT, do I still need to get it to pass an MOT? Thanks.
Hi if it was me I would have your bikes MOT done then DVLA will see it’s road worthy it will save you time in the long run and tax is historic

Is there any issue with not registering it as soon as it comes into the country if you're keeping it off-the-road because you can't afford the insurance and MOT?

Also how can you give the DVLA your insurance for the vehicle as surely the insurance will not insure you on a non-registered vehicle.

Hi you will need to insure your car using the vin number the insurance company will give you a time limit for you to complete all paperwork and MOT hope this help’s you

What about an imported frame is it the same method?
How about insurance because the bike is on Spanish plates? Are there any companies that will insure? Also for the Mot, the plate is not UK so would I have to get another mot when I get my UK plate?

Hi yes they will accept a day time MOT I have used a day time MOT to get chops I have built Registered with no lights good luck the DVLA can be a pain but most of the time they are OK

It will depend on make of bike if it’s a Harley I use wars Harley Davidson find them on line

How do you go about getting an age related document? Looking to register a 1977 bultaco but you cant go to manufacturers as they went bust in 1983

To get it off a q plate you will need proof of manufacture from an owners club or from the company that built it and then you may have a chance but there is usually a reason DVLA issue a q plate in my 45 years of importing Haley’s never had a q plate so good luck

For lack of title get an age certificate letter. For nova contact HMRC, they might be able to advise.

hi you just need a first registration pack from DVLA and he will need to supply you with italian reg document and bill of sale if no reg doc in his name don,t buy hope this helps

Hi will is the bike a U.S import if so it will have to have the U.S. title with it when imported this should have been given to you with the bike. Bike's cannot be exported without some form of title clean/salvage/scrap that sort of thing if you cannot get this from your seller you can apply for an age-related certificate from Harley Davidson try Warrs Harley Davidson they have always been helpful with bikes I have had problems registering. The NOVA is only proof that the tax and duties have been paid hope this helps if you need more information get in touch

Get an MOT done using the Frame number. You will need the date of first registration as well if possible.

They rejected my application , the seller had supplied a FAKE Nova!!! Also they said I had to produce an export certificate or an original us registration, I supplied a warr proof of age and a receipt , the seller says he'll split the nova cost with me what do you think bud? Cheers
this is probably not the answer you want to hear if the Nova is fake then where did the bike come from you cannot bring a bike in from the US without some sort of title also a bill of sale the war-proof of age will not prove where this bike came from just the year of build you should not pay for the NOVA the seller should have done this before he put bike up for sale

The guy I bought it from got the nova from the importer ! I've just rang the DVLA and they say of I send a covering letter as to why I don't have the documents and the proof of age it should be ok , the seller was unaware of the fake nova and says he'll split the cost with me , the nova people are ringing Monday , think they are going to investigate the original importer ! Crook! Lol
Good luck with the bike it just sounds odd if you go to the trouble of buying an import from someone and don’t register it you must know that there is a problem hope it works out for you

No just for first registration of a none UK motorcycle if you have a worn bike all you need to do if you have the log book V5 is tax it on line hope this helps
