I actually liked this Doctor Doom. Yeah it's far from the comic, but i like his ability, his metal coating skin, and i always laughed at how he just goes full emo due to Monster drink OD
This film was a failed attempt at a dark and edgy Fantastic Four film. Every scene having a grey or black filter over it, Ben having a cliche abusive brother who says "It's clobberin time" to try and make The Thing's catchphrase seem edgy, almost every scene being in a dark room and the like.
@@rodrigomorales563 No matter what tone you're going for in a film whether it's a dark tone, a light hearted and funny one, a sad, tragic one or whatever it has to fit the story and characters. If it doesn't it won't work. Something Zack Snyder didn't understand when he made Man of Steel and Batman vs Superman to try and replicate Nolan's success with his Batman trilogy. But Snyder didn't get that the dark tone of Nolan's films fit the more grounded and realistic world his Batman films were set in. Snyder was convinced they were successful just because they were dark but it was more than that. Snyder making his version of Superman a brooding Batman clone with no personality or character who didn't care about humanity at all with a dad who told him to let a bus full of schoolkids die so as to not reveal his powers with said dad walking into a tornado to kill himself and telling Clark not to save him didn't help Snyder.

I believe that you can make almost everything with any tone as long as you know what you are doing (I truly think you can do a dark and creepy Teletubies or a love comedy out of Berserk if you really know what you are doing and manage your tone carefully, although the latter is admittedly harder than the first one to make, Teletubies are naturally creepy as is), so the problem isn't inherent to having a dark Superman and just as you said, that Snyder didn't understand what made The Dark Knight click and tried to copy paste it and at the same time tried to double on the edginess to set himself apart ............ despite the fact that the edgy factor didn't add much in most scenes and the ones that could work (Clark's dad sacrificing himself, him having to kill Zodd etc) were ruined by this constant dark tone that always overstays it's welcome so that the truly tragic scenes have to ramp it up to keep up to the point where they completely jump the shark and lose all weight to them (the way they are set up and directed also seal the deal). Now we probably will not see a more sinister Superman adaptation in a very long time because of him, which is a shame, because a darker tone could really fit this uplifting hero as a form of contrast that could hold true meaning, but no, he killed it just to have edgy alien jesus

The change with her being adopted is fine, family can be chosen and found in any place, but I think they could've done the mean teacher trope in a more fitting way where it didn't seem out of place. Reed is unnaturally smart for a kid his age, so him bringing those topics and talking like that could've made the teacher feel inferior with his own intellect and the story with his childhood could've had it where the teacher sudtly tries to make Reed feel dumb or something. And if thicc bois bro was supposed to be an inspiring brother, why change that? Could've had at least one supportive person when their kids and someone else Reed could be friends with. If they wanted to tie in the "It's clobbering time", he could've had a dad or uncle with anger issues. Or, maybe to bring some lightheartedness to this edginess, maybe he watches a cartoon/kid show he's a little insecure about liking and looks up to a character where that's his catchphrase. Fan4stic was based off of the ultimate comics, not the 616 comics. The ultimate comics were actually pretty good but holy fuck does this movie not do them justice. EDIT: Fantastic 4 2005 was at least comics accurate, the suits and the tone was very similar to the original Stan Lee/Jack Kirby comics. While it wasn't perfect, the director and the people who worked on it at least read and understood the comics.

This movie was horrible, the only things I liked was Johnny Storm and the scene where Dr. Drool king of aluminum paper kills everyone by blowing their heads, the rest is trash and the old ones are way better, even silver surfer was more entertaining than this.
At the end of the movie, I was like “is that really it?” I was waiting for some crazy action scenes but no I guess it was just people talking the whole time (very boring conversations at that)
