I've seen this done with a normal guitar across the player's knee. I hade no idea there was a special weird tabletop version.
No you have not seen this done. If somebody's just taking a guitar and putting it across their lap they're not gonna be doing this specifically.. This is called a pedal steel guitar.. It's a whole different animal
