Summary (actually only four questions :) ):
1. Will you (as the attorney) administer the trust that you are creating for me?
2. How many years of experience do you have?
3. What are your practice areas? The answer should be only trusts (and/or wills).
4. Are you a certified specialist in estate planning (by the state bar)

Our Attorney suggested to put our home in a quit claim deed - life Estate Reserve rather then a trust to protect in from a nursing home if I had to go. Was that the right thing?

I appreciate the information questions to ask the attorney prior to hiring. If one has a pretty simple state which is some stocks in a few Rental properties not that complicated is this something that you still recommend them to be able to administer? Thank you for your time

Ask if all updates and changes be included in your trust . Signed by your attorney. This will help keep your trust updated when you are 80. Trusts need to be funded properly . A younger attorney is better as where are they going to be in 40 hrs. See if there is back up if your attorney dies. So some states dont require training for trusts. Firms are better . The thing is some attorneys are bad at trusts

Looks like your in CA, do you know of trusted attorneys in WA state? There are so many that's it's difficult to choose.
What about if they practice in your state? That should be the first question. 🤷♀️

I know people that have spent up to $5000 on a living trust. And the trust with no good after they passed. What do you look for as a red flag that you’re very interesting isn’t done right? Thank you

@@TheGregWallace Actually by being a credit union member I got one for $1700. The attorneys take extra courses and test. They specialize and only do living trust.

After selling a couple homes in 2020, I'm anticipating a housing crisis in order to buy inexpensively. As a backup plan, I've been thinking about purchasing stocks. Most of the time the attorney died before their clients. No way they can administer the Trust and Will.
I do not see a 5 question nor a 5th answer, therefore I probably would ask "how much is this going to cost me?" Also, I see people asking legitimate legal questions and you have to remember these folks charge by the hour for their time, so why would they answer them for free on TH-cam?! I am sure they have an average of prices for the work they are doing. Just my thoughts...

I don't have anything against California, been there many times and was a nice place to visit, I emphasis, was.
