    When your phone is nearly waterproof, has metal edges, and uses Gorilla Glass 3, you literally do not need a case. "Not being able to use a case" is a pretty silly reason not to mention the Moto mods. This is not fragile like an iPhone. I have owned Moto Zs since the first generation and have dropped them all numerous times on concrete without any damage.
    The battery and projector Moto mods are reason enough to mention them.

      In my opinion the battery brings so much size to this, that you might as well buy a phone that already has a bigger battery. Just my opinion. There was a lot to cover 😁.
      You're right though. I probably should have mentioned them more, but just my opinion they aren't worth it for your average person. They are either too expensive, too bulky, or they don't fit with a case, which I still think is important 😁.
      I legitimately appreciate your opinion though. I know there is a segment of people that love Moto Mods. But they don't fit flushly on the back of the Moto Z4. So I think even those people will be disappointed. Just my opinion

    The finger print sensor fix. Just add three prints to one of your thumbs two just nice your thumb slightly then last scan move your thumb around and the scanner will work.

    If you're looking for an alternative I recommend the Motorola One Action. I have a first impressions video at TH-cam.com/androiddigest
    Just click on my unboxing video. It's a great alternative with a reliable fingerprint sensor and it's on sale! Link in that description!
    Deals may be limited time!

    I got mine for $10/mo. for $240.00. After 60 days, I can pay it off. I like the Z4. I'm coming from having a Galaxy S7. This is my 2nd Motorola phone. I think I had a Droid Maxx 2 in 2016.

      @HELLFISH I know these are very rare to come by now, I was lucky and managed to find a seller in the UK selling some remaining new stock. Bought it for £50 which is the correct retail price for the standard 2200mah one. might buy another just for keep sake before they eventually go out of stock.
      Also as an update to this, the phone is great, the fingerprint scanner has got better over time. And the battery combined with the mod easily gets through a day of heavy usage and on pretty much all other times it can do two full days, very impressed!

    Dude, I liked most of your video but MotoMods! Seriously man! That's the real reason I just bought a Z4. I'm a huge Moto fan and it's not because of the specs. I would buy the new Razr, but $1,500 is out of my budget.

      Yeah we can agree to disagree. I write reviews for the average person. The person that needs a case on their device to protect their phone. Using Moto Mods is not practical for your average person that has to take their case off every time they use it.
      My opinion on specific mods:
      The moto mod for the camera.... Just to be honest. Still doesn't make the phone look as good as a Pixel 3 or 3a even. Why spend the extra money to have both and bulk up your phone?
      The speaker mod, won't work with your normal case. Nor will most mods. And a $20 bluetooth speaker, like a good jbl one on ebay, sounds just as good as the mod, except it won't drain your phone battery and you can bring it with you anywhere.
      The projector is sorta cool. And you can find all these on eBay for reasonable prices used.
      But practically speaking, most of the mods are significantly overpriced.
      The 5G mod? So expensive. Add that to the price of this, you might as well get a way better phone with 5G.
      Some tech enthusiasts who don't care about cases will love it, but price wise (when you consider the price of the mods) it's not too practical. And when you consider the case thing that's a deal breaker for your average person.
      I'm also annoyed that they couldn't make an innovative design due to the mods.
      Finally, not all mods fit flushly on the z4. Some will be slightly overhanging the edges

    • @TecnamTwin
      @TecnamTwin 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Android Digest I own and use the speaker mod often. It's got its own battery built in so doesn't really drain the battery bro so you're wrong on that one. Having the phone playing in my pocket is a great loophole to the no-speaker rule my workplace has in some areas. These phones don't really need cases. I know because I've dropped them a lot.
      Also, everything you mention is something extra you got to carry around or clip to your person. That's annoying. The mods are a much more streamlined and elegant solution so you don't have to have carry and charge two separate, larger devices. Are they expensive? Sure. But they allow functionality that no other phone has and it's COOL. Also, the gamepad mod turns it into a mini-Nintendo Switch or PSP and that's awesome.
      Another thing, Cost isn't much of a concern nowadays with people spending in excess of $1,000 on their phone and more on cases and accessories so... Rather have my $10/mon. Moto Z4 with all the mods. 😁 And the slight mod fit issue is no issue to me.
      The "average person" who wouldn't use Moto Mods probably wouldn't buy a Motorola anyway so that point is moot. Those guys buy Apple "cause it just works."

    • @AndroidDigest
      @AndroidDigest  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TecnamTwin You make a lot of good points! The mods fit a unique segment of people who love and enjoy them. Might have been a good idea to spend some time on them 😁.

    Adding to this review for those who are interested in this phone:
    A.) The mods are the reason to get this phone. Period.
    B.) The speaker is actually in a terrible spot. If you are holding the phone sideways for video viewing or gaming, you will naturally cover the speaker completely! Annoying. The previous Z series did not have this problem.

    I have had my Moto z 4 about 8 months, I love this phone especially the camera, but the screen has started coming apart, I don't know if anyone else has had this problem, I gave $498 plus taxes for it at Best buy, it should not come apart like this I take very good care of my phone it still looks like brand new, I'm not trying to discourage anyone from buying a Moto z 4 it could be a defect on this particular one but you might want to check out other reviews to see.

    Is the moto one action better?

    • @AndroidDigest
      @AndroidDigest  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Moto Z4 is supposed to be better. But I preferred the Motorola One Action.
      The Motorola One Action has a regular fingerprint sensor, it has 128GB of storage. It was nearly just as fast, etc.
      It doesn't have the Moto Mods, but if you wouldn't use them anyway, you might not want them.
      So you can get the One Action, which is about 90% of the phone this phone, you can get it for like $249 or $299.
      And honestly, I enjoyed the design of the Moto One Action more. I enjoyed the phone more, I enjoyed the fingerprint sensor more. The few annoyances I had, like the design and the fingerprint sensor, were fixed in the One Action. So yeah. That's my personal take.. Price wise you can get much better deals on the One Action.
      If you really like the in screen fingerprint sensor and if you will use Moto Mods, you probably wanna get the Z4.
      I reviewed the one action too. So you can check out that review too

    you forgot to talk about the motomods

    • @AndroidDigest
      @AndroidDigest  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's a plus, but to be honest, I think they are pretty bad.
      A speaker costs like $40 or more. But it won't fit with your normal case. You can get better sound with a $20 Bluetooth speaker anyway, and you have more flexibility by having them detached..
      The camera mod, as expensive as it is, still doesn't make this camera better than a Google Pixel, so it's a huge bulky thing just for worse pictures.
      And the Moto Mods limited the things they could do with the design. I should have talked about them... But I overdid a little on time 😁 and personally I don't think they are worth it.
      Even the 5G mod is huuge. And 5g is pretty much nowhere in 2019.
