Each genre of music must be approached differently when mastering. For ambient music, the emphasis is on wide dynamics, a big deep stereo image, and a clear differentiation between the soft and "spiky" parts of the mix.

Good video. Been screaming about this for years now. Take any ENO track and check the LUFS. It goes as far down as -23LUFS. Headroom... It can't be ambient without it. :)

This is an AMAZING direction and video! I'm glad I found this! I have been making, mixing music for years and mastered a few albums, but making ambient music took all my standard steps and said "nope. Not here buddy!" 😂🤣

I saw this and decided to check it out, because I mix and master in the way EDM is done. So seeing a different perspective for a different genre is something I wish there was more of.

Thanks for watching! I hope other genres have something to learn from ambient - I've certainly learned a lot from EDM!

Thank you so much for this video, it's seemingly coming out at the perfect time for me!
I'm working on my first EP as a hobbyist producer, and most tutorials focus on pop-oriented sounds.
This actually answers a lot of problems I ran in to!

@sk8iny0 Awesome! Hit me up on email if you have any other questions (you can find it on my site www.holosuitemastering.com at the bottom) and please share your music when it's done, I'd love to hear it!

Thanks for watching! Are you referring to the hardware version, the EQP-WA? In which case, of course hardware beats software by default 😊 I haven't heard any appreciable difference between the different Pultec EQ plugins I've tried, but I appreciate that others have articulated some - but I'm quite happy with the Waves ones. Would love a hardware version tho!
