Neons look best over a white base, so you can use a white shadow base or you can put down a white shadow, then pack the neon over it. I love neons to blend the outside edges of the shadow for extra pop.
I've been super tempted to pick up the large Viseart master palette, the ones with all the mattes in columns from light to dark & then just buy beautiful Indie metallics, duo & multichromes & call it done. This palette kind of gives me those vibes but in a paired down way. The first 3 -4? rows are so niiiiice, I mean those deep saturated matte shades are just yummy. I'm not very tempted by the shimmers though & I don't really have a need for "neon" shades either. If they sold a palette of just the first 3-4 rows of mattes, it would definitely be tempting just by the shade selection. I've seen Betty Jean do some really amazing eye looks with this brand ( what can't she make look amazing?)
I love both palettes the blend & surge, I definitely recommend the blend as well. Seeing multiple looks would be great! I enjoy watching doing this look and the neon do have a better color payoff with a white base.
I picked this up and I love it! I never got the original just because I have so many colorful palettes but the quality is making me rethink it. I love the dark grungy colors mixed with the pastels and neons. The shimmers are beautiful too, Flash is really soft tho! Love the look 🖤

... I already ordered both of these, before this video came up. 😅 So apparently, I was already kind of set on trying these. I have a lot of true pastels, pastel brights, and mid-tone brights, but not much as dark as even the 2nd row, so the 2nd and 3rd row are ESPECIALLY why I wanted Surge. Mattes are my love, I plan looks around mattes, I want all of the mattes. I have basically all of the pastel and pastel brights palettes, but basically only blacks to darken up outer corners, so if the mattes are 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻, I will be so, so glad to have this as a companion palette! 😭
Oooh I've been so interested in this palette. Although I only want it for the blackened and neon row 😅 wish that was a smaller palette. Could you compare these neons to the terra moons neons in a future video?

@@ByHerHand it was $24.70 so quite a lot, but I’d heard great things about the palette & it has so much variety with the deeper shades & neons that I figured it was worth it
I'm prolly in the minority here, but I think most brands, even drugstore can do decent mattes so I don't really get excited about mattes. I prefer buildable mattes anyway, so them not being extremely pigmented right off the bat isn't a issue. I do like the gradient of colors though.

I definitely struggled with the neons in this palette and that first shimmer came totally destroyed. I'm now understanding why after you have explained the texture.
I don't have the urge to buy it but I do have the urge to make my own grungy rainbow palette. The moment you put your finger into the shimmer and exclaimed "Oh lordy!" was so funny!

I recently purchased the Giant Wolves palette instead because the shipping was 9$ as opposed to $20 (crazy logic probably😝) and for some reason I still have an urge for this palette! The green definitely felt like the weakest of the neons that I tried - the blue, purple and pink were all great! I haven't tried the yellow or orange yet.
I love the surge palette so far, but I have found the neon shades I have used so far are just okay. Not as bright as I would like. Everything else is great.
