      agreed.. this track was designed for Formula One.. its anti-monaco coz its has a lot of overtaking opportunities and a very long fast straight.. fav for every F1 driver.. so unlucky to lose Sepang because for Malaysian the ticket was so expensive.. its effect the fans attendance.. and effect Sepang management as well.. so rather then continue host not profitable F1 GP.. better they focus on more profitable race like MotoGP which the tickets always sold out.. well of coz its sold out because its cheap..

      @Paddy O'Yakkin I think its better to cause a headache than be beaten. If Webber was more aggressive he would be a champion by now and that's all that matters in the record books. The record books never talk about or speculate about team dynamics. Its about winning. Webber should have been more ruthless. Danny Ric was more ruthless, same goes for Leclerc. There's no sentiment in winning. Coulthard had similar issues with Hakinne and he acknowledged it on many occasions. In the end its about winning.

    • @jagenaught
      @jagenaught 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Paddy O'Yakkin Absolutely there's no gentleman's agreement in winning. We look at Senna with Prost, Lewis with Alonso, Max with Ric or even Charles with Vettel. You've gotta seize the moment. No championship came around because of being a gentleman. As you rightly said, competitive team mates makes it interesting.

Also, Seb had saved a brand new set of sorts/mediums not sure which compound from qualifying to take into the race, why should he lose that advantage? If Red Bull had allowed Seb to play his strategy earlier in the race allowing him to overtake Mark then they wouldn't have pitted him first at the final pit stops. As Seb said later on in China when asked about the incident, he was the faster driver of the two and Weber didn't deserve first place that day. I think first place should be earned, not just be given by the team. Team orders are lame when it comes to who should win, because from an individual point of view a championship contender should always focus on maximizing on points. You never know if races later in the season would give him a DNF or low points so every point counts when you can grab them! That's why even though there is a lot of crying sore loser stuff going over this incident, I am 100% backing Vettel on this. And I am an Australian who is very proud of both Mark Webber and now Daniel Ricciardo for all their achievements and skills. Senna was very aggressive in his driving and would do almost anything to get that first place and there aren't many people who doesn't like him is there? Why does Vettel get so much negativity, it really baffles me. He is such a nice guy off the track. He is just a racer when on track and surely that's what we all want from all the drivers. Not just a diplomatic PR sort of guy like Christian Horner. Hope he goes to Mercedes and we can see with equal cars, who out of Hamilton and Vettel is the better driver. I dont think there is much between them, both brilliant drivers.

    Webber, a driver who got beat by a rookie Rosberg at Williams, and didn’t win a race in 2013 when Vettel won 13. I don’t get why he’s rated so highly. I think he himself even said that he was an average talent that got lifted by those around him.

      Other than outqualifying Webber in Malaysia by one place. Rosberg never came close to touching Webber at Williams. Webber was fighting for a win in a midfield car against Alonso and Raikkonen around Monaco and Australia while Rosberg was where the Williams should have been - 12th place. Webber would have been champ before Vettel in 2010 if he didn't have a broken shoulder for the last few races.

    • @legosupremo
      @legosupremo 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Monsta Lova ok I take your point that Webber outshined a rookie Rosberg, that’s just my own ignorance. Even so, I wouldn’t exactly have said that outperforming your rookie teammate while entering your 5th year is that impressive; Hence the sideways step to red bull, not a top team when he arrived. He mentions his broken arm in his biography: ‘The fracture was so fine that it could not be treated’. Even if Vettel wasn’t his teammate in 2010, he would have still lost to alonso. His ‘beyond the grid’ interview is a really good listen- summed up He said he was an average talent that got dragged up by the people around him, which I think is fairly accurate- When he was on top of his game he could be there and win races, but when he wasn’t he was nowhere as in 2011 and 2013. Over the Course of their five years teammates, Webber Never managed to finish higher than third in the championship- which means if Vettel wasn’t At Redbull, they wouldn’t have won the championship, let alone four times in a row. I’m not saying he’s crap though, he’s just more of a Barrichello than a Schumacher.

  • @SiVlog1989

    Regardless of his success during his career, particularly at Red Bull, Vettel put himself above the team that day, which was out of order. What did it matter if Webber just had one win in 2013? Mercedes were some way back because of fuel consumption concerns and they were leading anyway, with Webber ahead because of a better timing of his switch to dry tyres (it started wet that day). As far as the team were concerned, job done, there was no point in risking the drivers taking each other out and thus jepodise a 1-2 finish.
    Throwing my hat in the ring, it wasn't so much what he did here that (I won't say made me hate him as that's a bit extreme) made me reassess Vettel, but more how he handled the aftermath. He publicly apologised to Webber and the team immediately after the race, yet by the time they arrived at the next Grand Prix, in China, Vettel did a complete about face. Not only did he say that Webber didn't deserve to win that race, but he basically said that he would do it again given the chance. Many people I've spoken to feel that the season Vettel had the following year, 2014, where he underperformed relative to what the car was capable of (being beaten by Ricciardo more often than not) did him some good because it made him see that he's not bigger than the team, he's just (albeit a very successful one) a driver, the last link in the chain of structure in an F1 team

    • @EvolSiRaw
      @EvolSiRaw 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Fair point. But it was the second race of the season both of them wanted to win to get more points for the championship you couldn't predict that Seb would win another 12 Grand Prix. In my opinion, in this situation team orders shouldn't be a thing. I mean that's racing if you are faster you get past if you are not you stay behind. Anyway this is my opinion.

    • @SiVlog1989
      @SiVlog1989 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@EvolSiRaw even as far back as the 1950's teams were employing similar instructions to their drivers. In other words, race each other cleanly until the opposition are far enough behind to not be a challenge to their chances. Indeed, Stirling Moss, when talking about his victory over Fangio at Aintree in 1955, mentioned that they were allowed to battle for their position until they were 30 seconds ahead. By the time they were that margin ahead, Fangio was right on Moss's tail as they crossed the line. Fangio kept his side of the bargain. Then again, the sport was a different beast then.
      If Vettel had passed Webber before the last round of stops, nobody from the outside would have batted an eyelid as being on the right strategy at the right time would mean that he got ahead fair and square. But putting himself above the team and worse doing an about face on terms of his attitude, it was a PR own goal for Vettel, he just came across as arrogant and felt that he should be of a devine right to win. This explains why, although I don't condone it, Vettel got booed later that season (not just at Monza, where anyone who wins there that's not in a Ferrari is public enemy number 1, but particularly Singapore).
      Don't get me wrong, I don't any hate on Vettel, his victory at Monza in 2008 for example for Toro Rosso was one of the greatest moments I've ever seen. But, it seems unlike other multiple world champions like Schumacher or more recently Hamilton, he's not learning from his mistakes and when it does happen it just heaps the pressure on himself all the more. Believe me, if he does get back to his best consistently, he'll truly a force to be reckoned with and truly shake off the critics who say (to this day) he's only capable of winning titles in Red Bull. But he needs to pull his socks up if he's to do that

    • @monstalova
      @monstalova 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      What would have been fair is Vettel telling them to radio Webber and say I'm coming to get him so at least Webber could put the engine settings back to normal before he started overtaking him. It's like overtaking a midfield car with Webbers engine in conservation mode. They both knew and were told what settings they should be on for their cars. The amount of times Webber had to follow orders to keep Vettel safe and he can't even do it once!?

At Spa 2012, Vettel made the "Multi 1-2" call himself, just as Webber was on an in lap for one of his stops in the race. In Brazil, although he didn't necessarily make it easy for him, Webber did cede the position he had to Vettel and Vettel came away with his third world championship. I hate team orders as much as anyone. That's not the real issue though. They were both told to hold station and change to lower engine settings and conserve tyres. Obviously Vettel didn't so had much more ability in his car to overtake. Webber has honoured the teams orders all the time previously to stay behind Vettel and even had to give up car parts for him in the past races. Webber was right though, Vettel can do whatever he likes cos the Red Bull bosses are too scared to tell him off or punish him. Fair thing would have been to tell Webber that Vettel is going to fight you so get ready. Didn't say anything to him until he was on his rear. Webber would have been Red Bulls first champion if he didn't have a broken shoulder for the last few races of the 2010 season. He was well ahead of him in points and most races before that happened.

    Comments here have completely missed the point.. the team had arranged for the "multi 21" scenario.. meaning, whoever was leading at this point late in the race in a 1-2 for red bull, would assume the lead and BOTH cars would turn their engines down and cruise home in that formation (In this instance.. 2-1.. Webber being car no 2..). Its perfectly legal, and more importantly eases any mechanical burden that could jeopardise the result.. Webber had turned his engine down, but Vettel hadn't.. so he's now driving a faster car.. and more importantly, had completely ignored a team order.. work backwards from that position.. Webber was screwed, but after that it got political, and that argument is way more complicated and a whole other story.
