I'm from Omaha where Offutt AFB is located. John Joubert (pronounced JOO-BERT, like the name Bert) was active in Sarpy County when I was little. Those "people" he killed were all 12 year old boys. The 2 in Nebraska were both paper boys that he snatched while doing their paper routes in the early morning hours. He severed their... Ummm... Parts... and mutilated their bodies. As kids we heard about this stuff as we eavesdropped on the grownups talking about it. I started having horrible nightmares and would wake my mom up with my screams in my sleep. I slept with my light on every night for a long time.

So, for the first story, the guy wonders why he has an AF captain. Probably was stationed at a COB. His job was to look out for IEDs, not EIDs. (I pointed this out only in case you do more of this genre. Me, I think you do an awesome job. )
Lastly, lots of good captains out there. Lots of crap people serve too. That person was walking garbage that wanted a "nice" bullet point to put in his records. Bragging rights. Would've said how he saved thousands on the base, along with the cost of equipment and infrastructure. Yadee yadee about how a mission or whatever would have been adversely affected.
There's a bit more, but I just wanna listen to you and wifey.
I served almost 22 years. Lots of messed up people join, along with the good ones.

I actually didn’t realize that I stumbled over my lettering there. Might have had a small dyslexia moment when reading. I actually served as well so it’s embarrassing if I said EID’s rather than IED’s 😅. Thank you for pointing it out to me though so that next time I can make sure to really pay attention to how I read the acronyms 😅😅
