John Lennon wrote In My Life in 1965 in the form of a long poem reminiscing on his childhood years. The original version of the lyrics was based on a bus route he used to take in Liverpool, naming various sites along the way, including Penny Lane and Strawberry Fields. Lennon later thought the original lyrics were "ridiculous", calling it a 'What I Did on My Holidays Bus Trip' song.
He reworked the words and replaced the specific memories with a generalised meditation on his past. According to Lennon's friend and biographer Peter Shotton, the lines "Some are dead and some are living/In my life I've loved them all" referred to himself and the Beatles original bass player, Stuart Sutcliffe, who had died in 1962.
Lennon claimed to have written the music for the verses, whereas McCartney claimed to have written the music for the whole song.
Lennon asked George Martin to write a Baroque style piano piece for the instrumental bridge. To make it easier to play, Martin recorded the piece an octave lower at half speed. When played back at normal pace the piano was twice as fast and an octave higher, giving the solo a unique timbre, reminiscent of a harpsichord.

Very professional performance! I think busking on the streets to audiences up close and personal for all these years helps her presentations in front of even bigger audiences. She did not appear nervous in the slightest bit. The only thing I would change is less dancing around by the fellow with the umbrella and more focus on the singing. But that is of course beyond the control of Allie and is up to the producers.
agree that dancer was idiotic and very distracting. I tried to focus on Allie performing with orchestra and high audio equipment.
The dancer was brilliant, you don't need to look at someone to hear them.

some of these producers have no clue what their doing, it's based on their mood and that's how the show goes. as brilliant as this song is, they dropped the ball and they had an opportunity with Allie and they mismanaged her strength. her voice. Allie never disappoints

Allie needs a string quartet with her on Grafton St. The strings really enhance the purity of her voice.❤
I completely disagree. There is such beauty and purity in Allie's voice that it's at it's best when it's stripped right back so every subtle nuance comes out. She's always at her best when she's solo and she can control the dynamics of her voice and guitar.
I would have stripped away the orchestra, the backing band and the ridiculous dancer and just given Allie free reign to belt out something like "Halo", just her and her guitar. If that had happened, a whole new audience would have been blown away by the pure beauty of her voice.
The Street Party was broadcasted on ITV last weekend, but the performance actually took place already on 12 May, 2022 in the AO-Arena in Manchester. Allie's performance was absolutely gorgeous - this girl is destined for the big stage.
Why wuld she bother with the "big stage" when she's making millions singing a couple of times a week on Grafton Street?

She's wonderful as per usual. Great job. I agree that the dancer shouldn't have been there, but he did a good job with what he was handed, not his fault that the show was produced this way -- he got himself a good gig. If a dancer was mandated, perhaps a more subtle tasteful choreography without a spot -- but he's got some talent too!
