This was a lot of fun. I was born in Elmira, NY in 1964 and lived there until I left for college. It's really cool to see the area as it was at that time. There was a really nice park with a carousel, miniature golf and some kids rides adjacent to the landing strip they showed for the sailplanes on Harris Hill. It was a pretty area and I have lots of good memories of going there as a kid.
Lovely jubilee!. I spent 4mths working in Germany late 60s . Had Polish friend who flew sailplanes around Mannheim/ Ludwigshaben. He offered to take me aloft in his glider, but I never did it. Watching this reminds me you should do it whatever. Remember the film Phoenix were the German designed their escape aircraft. Model sail planes!!. Thanks guys. Dave
Thanks, I enjoyed that. That music though. It’s the kind of music that comedians like Kevin Meaney used to parody ~ th-cam.com/video/JDHvYdi6Bu4/w-d-xo.html

I learned at Ionia, Michigan, 30 years ago in a Schweizer 2-33 and later flew a 1-26. Great fun!
I love watching these 👍

I got my glider rating at the Schweizer factor in Elmira in the 1960s when I was temporarily working nearby in Endicott, NY.
