I agree with Don. find a semi permanent spot for the tent, get some good pallets and plywood and build an Awesome floor platform for the tent to sit on. When the Army does a Tent city the floors are usually wood or concrete. something to think about for sure. good luck my friend! looks awesome!

My sister and her boyfriend live out of a large canvas tent that is round. Not really a Yurt, but a true tent. They placed theirs on wood pallets to get off the dirt and it’s worked great for last 2 years.
Ya know since you're going to be living in the tent, why not make the roof top tent into your bed so you have a really cozy comfortable bed to stay warm in? With the kanvas tent the roof top tent will stay SOOOO much warmer if you keep it open to the heat during the day, or you could run a diesel heater in the tent but direct the heater outlets toward the bed area.

Nice tent....but...I'd be worrying about stability in wind. I spent a winter in a tent in the hills an hour south of Tucson. I'd have days gusting to 40 MPH. I don't think a square wall tent would hold up too well. Maybe your area doesn't get that windy? Myself I'd go with a teepee, yurt or 8 pole mountain expedition tent.

You should build a platform for the tent. Totally help with the dirt getting inside. The moon sand gets everywhere. Great looking tent!
Thinking the same thing. Get it a good 18-24” off the ground. Keep any moisture from rotting the floor. Any snow won’t build up on its wall
I’m so glad you have your dad to help you and spend time with you. Savor every minute of it. Mine passed away 9 years ago and I miss him a lot.
