Thank you for the video! My slider is a triple door, opening on both sides, so since I saw you not drill anything, I can try it on both sides and see which way I prefer! So helpful, thank you!
How did you get on with your door? We recently bought ours but I’m not happy with the lack of security it offers after its in. We can’t lock the sliding door anymore and the locking latch it comes with isn’t secure either. I was curious to know your experience. Thanks
I had to buy pipe foam covers to use as weather stripping. We had large gaps. It works fine that way. Ours doesn’t lock either. So we have to remove it each night. Kind of a pain, but we don’t want to put it in permanently.
Hi from faaaaar northern Canada. THANK YOU for being the ONLY patio dog door reviewer on YT to mention mosquitoes and winter drafts!!! -20F to -40F is normal here for 6 months a year, then we get our spring, which is like Maine in the winter (less cold, more damp, and a lot of snow). All I care about in a dogdoor review is mosquitos and wind/cold. "Summer" is 90 days long and the screen door dog door is good for that, but useless in the winter (aka: most of the year). I think I can make this door work for up here. How well does the flap stop mosquitoes and knats in the summer? Does it seal tightly on the sides? Thanks!
How secure do you think it is ? Let's say you got locked out would it be the easiest way into your house, my all knowing 15 and 20 year old seem to think it's a bad idea and we should install one in the wall
Hi saw your review, I was wondering if your sliding door is a Pella door. I have a Pella sliding door, it is metal clad white on the outside and wood on the front side and was wondering if this Petsafe dog door will work with my Pella sliding door? Thank you for your time.
Ty for this! Idk who gives this thumbs down ... maybe they aren’t technology literate and think they are rating the item lmao 🤣??? Who knows but well spoken and informative! Thnx again!
Thanks so much for this video now that I've seen that you love it I think I'll buy it. They do look like they are made with quality materials. Love your chocolate lab.
@@Tachinaori awesome! Thanks for the response. How is it with the cold weather any problems with drafts from the doggie door? I know there is weather stripping
@@thirteenthgrade508 yeah it will draft a bit... I wish the magnet was a bit stronger to keep the plastic closed but if the wind is too bad I just lock it closed.
I rent at an apartment, the 3 bedroom we currently are renting has a broken mesh lining and my cat loves to go in and out. In a few months we’ll be moving and I was looking to see if we could get something like this, but we rent and wouldn’t be able to strew it in, do you feel like that’s a necessity or is it pretty sturdy without that?
I’m a bit confused as to why you installed the door with the spring adjustments facing toward the outside???? Those need to be inside or maybe you don’t care bcuz you have a loaded 12 gauge next to your vanity? Either way works but that’s not how I would have installed it.
I don’t understand why they suggest to install in front of the door that has the handle and lock, in this case the right sliding door. I placed it behind the left door, slide it over to the right and placed doggie door, secured left door in place, and my front right door locks to its original latch. Engineers and manuals sometimes not so great, wish I can send a pic of my installation so they can rewrite the introductions manual🤣🤣🤣
I'm confused why these doors are popular, sure they're easy to install but you're halving the width of your door, which will be a lot of fun carrying a tray of food in from the grill or if you're fat.
this would be good for amateur radio operators who want to feed a cable outside to their portable tripod mounted antenna. I would rather have one integrated onto the frame of the doors.
Can it prevent animals that aren't your own from coming in? Like does it have RFID microchip recognition scanning to let only pets that are yours and are microchipped in and out?
Whoever installed your sliding door put it in wrong. The sliding part needs to be on the inside, not the outside, so someone cant lift it up and out of the channel.
How the heck this get 12 thumbs down? Haters gotta hate I guess.
Good video, and thanks it helped me make the call to buy this door.

Just bought one for our puppy. This was the best review. You sold me. 🙂 Hoping installation goes smooth. 😬

@@IanSolano just put a board behind the door to prevent it opening.😊
Thank you for this! I'm considering getting one for my apartment.

Awesome video. Years after it keeps on helping.
Is it user friendly? You are able to use the sliding glass door with no troubles?
I live in an apartment and I would like for my dog to be able to go out to the patio on his own. This is perfect.
Very helpful thank you. I’ll be buying one soon after seeing this video!

We bought this door but ours has a sliver of light that comes thru where the two pieces meet did you have that issue?
Hi! Does the lock come with it or you put it on yourself?
Did you have to do any drilling? Is it pretty secure without attaching the screws to the door frame? Thank you for sharing!
Very good review. I'm sold, this is the one I am going to buy.
How does it work in the summer? I live in AZ, but my dog loves sitting on the patio; can the pet door close when we have the AC on?

Where I can buy
Does it lock still?
Is there a locking mechanism for the dog door itself?
no, the original locking mechanism is abandoned and a sliding glass door pin lock is supplied.
What kinda of lock did you use
Where did you get the lock
Where did you but it ? And was the name of it

Is there a way to add or lock the sliding glass door to add security?
I’d just add a metal or wooden stick, that with the screws I think you’d be good

OK... miss understatement...
haha... thanks for the video!

No
Seriously?
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I don’t know why people are laughing at this question... I had the same one. I’d like for it to be more secure than that
Install a doggie retina scan for added security 👍🏼
How secure is it against a burger?
If a burger wants to break in, ill eat it
I have a cast iron skillet and seasoning for the burger
Better come with fries and a coke😂
Your sliding door panels are in the wrong tracks. They will operate just fine but are not very security safe.
Whoever installed your sliding door put it in wrong. The sliding part needs to be on the inside, not the outside, so someone cant lift it up and out of the channel.
Please don't put the spring levers on the outside of the door - that just leaves it vulnerable to thieves.
How is the insulation? Does air slip through easily?
