I have yet to find any information on where this type of circuit is used in a real life situation, other than turning the led or light on or off if either gate is in its prospective position what is it used for, you can google till your fingers fall off and all you get is info on where to buy it and the datasheet. Surely they wouldn't go to all the trouble of fabricating a chip to turn leds or lights on or off.
