There's a little latch there to clip the smokestack when you fold it down. Unfortunately it blocks the door from going back far enough that it can stay up on its own. But all it took was the smallest clamp I could find at a hardware store to keep it up. Pretty simple $2 solution
Jordan, I'm interested in buying a 250gal pit. You being in Pa., why did you go with Primitive Pits over something local like Meadow Creek? I assume you looked at MC thoroughly before choosing PP. What made you choose PP?

Is your firebox fully insulated? Fire looks small but was holding 250
