      I saw this circa 2007 an I was a teen trumpet player in northern Chile. Now I'm a Senior Software Engineer in New York. Same feelings.

    I showed this to my grandpa, he was actually familiar with it, he had specifically said "I recall a time when I performed this piece in front of someone I was romantically interested in, during a past era, as a member of the musical group William Tell. She expressed surprise at our performance, which ultimately led to us going on a date." Still no clue what he means

      8th note triplets paradiddle with hands, started with the right hand on the hihat, left hand accent = rimshot on the snare. Syncopation alright.

    Em 2013 eu ví esse vídeo por mera curiosidade. Lembro que no dia eu pesquisei "solo de bateria" e acabei vindo pra cá kk. Depois dele eu comecei a me interessar bastante por bateria e logo nos anos seguintes passei a tocar e até me apresentar em shows com minha banda, se não fosse pelo "Vadrum" talvez hj eu não teria feito nada disso. Fico muito agradecido por você ter mudado minha vida! Vendo isso hj ainda me impressiono da mesma forma.

    As to what's going on with the triplets around 0:44 , it does rhythmically work, however compared to the genius arrangements that Andrea usually comes up with, it doesn't flow as well. Still, I can definitely say he's a much better drummer than I am. Keep the videos coming Andrea, I love every single one. You're a tremendous inspiration to all drummers.

    I'm not a drummer, nor musically talented, but from how I heard 0:46 (etc) part, was that he started with a slow beat, then in increments picked it up ending up with what he continued with (and I'm betting no one understood that sentence ;) ). Pure genius if u ask me :P. (sorry, I don't know the correct terms for all u hardcore drummers squirming in ur seats after reading this comment :P)

    For all of you who think he messed up during 0:44-0:52, if you listen to the end of that section, he gets RIGHT BACK into the song. So it was completely intentional, and he did a supreme job.

    He is in time in every single part of this song. Just because "it doesn't sound right" doesn't mean it's not in time. Listen to Arnold Schoenbergs String Quartet no1. It will probably sound horrible to your ears, but it is completely in time. And it is a true masterpiece in my opinion.
    I love what Vadrum is doing with classical music

    It's called metric modulation, difficult to explain.
    In this case its where he's taken the pulse of the song (the 1 2 3 4) and imposed a triplet over the top, then taken the triplet as a new 1 2 3 4 pulse.
    So you've got
    1 2 3 4 then add triplets.
    1 + a 2 + a 3 + a 4 + a then change the triplet to the new pulse.
    1 2 3 4 1 2 3 4 1 2 3 4 the new pulse goes over the original bar line.
    This is why it sounds like he speeds up but somehow stays in time.
