Donghae joined SM when he was still in JHS, n his father passed away when suju just debuted, so he was raised by his hyungs in Suju. And I think those hyungs really protected him from showbiz' neg effects that until now, his innocent n pure thoughts are still intact. Heechul even cried when he sent DH to enlistment, just like a parent would.
You can really tell. He is so beautifully innocent and its so lovely to see that someone so successful can be like this 💙

Leeteuk Heechul can be considered the parent of the D&E twins. Since when I was a trainee Leeteuk's heart already knew that he leaned more towards Eunhyuk than anyone else and he promised Donghae that he would be a good hyung and protect Donghae. If you watch Weekly Idols when D&E comes out The special MC is Leeteuk. Leeteuk even remembers the shirt the twins wore when they were trainees.
Donghae did a remixed version of Gloomy for Eunhyuk's birthday and that version is just so lovely and sweet. Also, I think Home is just like 2.0 version of Winter Love. Both songs show how important they are to each other.
Yes D&E!!! One of the best subunits out there. I adore all these songs in your mini-marathon. ‘Gloomy’ is fabulous. There is a follow up VCR set to “Everybody Knows” that completes the events that happened in “Gloomy”. There’s more acting for you in that VCR. OMG…’Winter Love’ makes me tear up every time. It’s a very emotional song for D&E since they wrote it together before their enlistment period. It’s pretty much the song of their parting to fulfill their duties. The lyrics tell you a lot. So ‘Winter Love’ is the song that we all love and that D&E have said they will never release officially. They will only perform it in concerts. ‘Sweater & Jeans’ is such a cool song. There are a few live performances of this one out there and there is choreo! ‘Rum Dee Dee’ is definitely a mood! It’s flirty and sexy. It’s so fresh and it gets stuck in your head. When the song is on, you have to groove. ‘Home’ is gorgeous. I believe it’s one of Hyuk’s faves from their new album. I think Donghae said that it almost became a Super Junior song however…it’s definitely a song for D&E. The lyrics are beautiful. When Donghae writes from his heart, it shows. I think Donghae is D&E’s concept creator. Hyuk is their performance creator. They mesh so well together. Super Junior have been together for so long and have retained their sense of individuality. I know people rag on them for not all dancing in perfect unison and all that but it’s just not their style. They allow for their individual personalities to shine in their group. So Leeteuk is pretty much their mother hen. He’s raised them all. They really have just helped each other in their own ways through the years. Hmm…really I want more D&E mini-marathons because they have a lot out there and it’s all so good. The “Countdown” album is just incredible. I love all the songs. (Okay so I pretty much love all their songs. ) I think check out more songs, or just go through the entire album, of “Countdown”. Oh and don’t forget ‘NEED U’ as well. 😁 Thanks always! 💙
Aahh Winter Love gets me every time. I don't know if you're aware but it was written by Donghae & Eunhyuk when they were about to enlist to the military. The lyrics are indeed beautiful yet painful at the same time as they are about their worries separating with ELFs and the members and also if you read the lyrics once more you'll realise some of hyuk's words were sort of responding to hae's lyrics. They were supposed to enlist together to the same military base but because of some issues they couldn't and hyuk had to enlist 2 days earlier.
Up until now they said they won't ever release the official audio for this song and we can only hear it in concerts :')

I hv the whole Super Junior discography on my playlist to which I listen regularly but it still feels like “new discovery” when watching Hurraira’s Super Junior reaction, so fun!
D&E really caught my attention. Donghae definitely has that mysterious and innocent aura. D&E stands on its own.

Anyways I find D&E songs are very clever in their lyrics. They are never ambiguous, some are so poetic, and some are cheeky and cleverly ties in with the overall song concept like Sweater and Jeans (Marilyn and James Dean? Wow!)
Speaking of D&E, if you ever feel like you need a pick me up, you should listen to "What is Your Name? "
It's a shame that SM waste a treasure like Donghae, this is a cute boy , a hamdsome man, a good singer and dancer, even an composer. I'm sure the Wastern public will go crazy for him. speak of D&E, i like everything of them, the ASIA TOUR AND Japen TOUR were both great.

Not sure if you have seen those "making of" or recording day documentaries/vlogs. Donghae knows exactly how he wants his music sounds and is very particular in recording sessions both when singing and when being the producer.
In case you haven’t seen it, I became ELF because of obsession/ illusion of D&E concert. Eunhyuk’s performance was FIRE❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
The lyrics of Winter Love are so good and its a shame they wont release the song digitaly. Donghae said before he enlisted in the military that they were writing a song for elfs (he even sung a small part of the song) and they have performed the song at D&E concerts. Donghae was asked not to long ago if they ever going to release the song and he said no. So the only way to heard it is by going to the D&E concert or Super Shows.

D&E can't apply their sound to SJ because Kyuhyun would probably riot and then he'd want an entire SJ album full of ballads (but hmm, that's not a bad deal either, lol).

Everytime I hear Winter Love I feel like I'm eavesdropping on a secret conversation between 2 people who share a really deep bond and it leaves me in tears. They both did a phenomenal job writing it. It was a last minute gift from them just before they enlist. You feel it's different coz they are not adapting to any character. They're just telling their story back then.
They were supposed to enlist together but it changed last minute, hyukjae leaving before donghae. Many say it's about them and ELF. I personally feel like it's for eachother ?

But honestly, it is one of my favorite songs. The lyrics are so beautifully cringy, Shindong’s voice is the perfect addition, and the song sounds rather…adultish. It always makes me laugh.
If you want some other songs to listen to that are a bit off of the beaten path, First Love and Off Line.
I think First Love is Donghae’s first solo on an album. It’s short but sweet. Off line is a fantastic dance song.
