      @@magniankh Then you're stuck with it forever as far as I'm concerned. What if you have on more clothes due to colder weather? What if you change the load? What if you want to pass it along to your son, and yes, while Condor is made in China, I have stuff from the late nineties I still use and it showing no signs of extraneous wear. I have a standing rule to all my guys I issue equipment to, "Cut a strap and you just bought that loaner." And yes, I have been taken all the way to the National NLRB review board who all looked at each other and asked how this got all the way to them? He refused to play for it and I fired his ass, johnny on the spot. Union shop or not I wasn't putting up with that BS and won't today.

      Or, if you don't want people to hear that velcro, roll/fold 'em up and use tape, or if you want them to really stay in place: hand-sew em in place. We had to do that to excess carrier straps in the German army.

    The side pouches with shock cord are listed as for magazines , but you have to use a condor pouch adapter unless you are running 40 rd pmags or surefire hi caps. 30 rd mags sit 2 inches below pouch top and velcro seals up over mag .

    Great review. I'm considering one of these for my setup. I currently using a full tactical vest and at 135 pounds and 5'4" find that it's hard to get it to fit someone of my stature. This appears to be a better option. I'm also working on a tactical gear on-line store and will definitely be including these in my store.

    I rolled up the excess of the straps on mine and used the Velcro to secure them to the main parts of the straps I was using. Had no issues keeping them in place. You could probably get this to fit anyone if you know how to use the straps. (You could also ditch the main cross straps and get the hydro harness, which replaces the straps with a hydration system)

    I have this same model rig and I cut off the front pistol pouches (just cut the threads and they come right off) and it's much better now. If you're running double stacked ar mags then having anything in front of that is just excessive and bulky. I use a duty belt for my pistol and pistol magazine pouch anyway so nothing was lost that can't go into the Molle panels to the sides of the ar pouches.

      @@bogeyt15games55 I'm sure you could find a solider that rocked a Condor in Afghanistan. Second only people who supposedly buy $400 chest rig's are more than likely SOF guys. The government values money/politics overall. I'm not convinced that every infantryman has a $400+ chest rig. And third let's assume you're right about the military supposedly supplying $400+ chest rig's to literally all their Soliders and Marines. your average civilian isn't gonna spend north of $100 for a chest rig. Lol Hell most people wouldn't even spend $100 for a chest rig. Most people would rather buy a rig that's priced $50-30 dollars. Most people don't have the money for "high speed low drag gear" tactical gear. Those forum's that you mentioned are just loaded with Mall Ninja's that are completely disconnected from reality.

It's popular to rag on Condor gear, but I've been shooting and collecting guns and gear for decades and the Condor gear I own is good stuff. The "Condor is cheap, airsoft/paintball gear" thing is true of Condor gear 10 years ago but they have really upped their game and make gear that is good in every way. I trust it for real deal stuff

      Fun fact about military issue gear, it’s made by the lowest bidder. Military gear is supposed to be cheap so it can be mass produced. +100fredkruger Most of my double, high capacity pistol mag pouches, and some of my multiple, high capacity rifle mag pouches, mag recovery pouches, and utility/drug and med bags, trauma kit, hydration bladder carrier etc...... are Condor and they serve me just fine and don't fail you. I even like my MCR 1 chest rig and 7 pocket chest rig. I run AK and .308 mostly and bought these to add to my Russian Spetsnaz vests and Tru Spec/5ive Star Gear RACK vests, since I usually store a rifle with a chest rig set up for it. @Guy L. I was thinking it would make a good place to put a mag shingle. Not that I plan on getting this chest rig because I already have a Vest Alpha chest rig and Spetsnaz Tac Vest that are purpose built for the AK for the Russian military. But if I were to get that rig for some reason, that's what I would do with that pouch because I like to carry more than 6 30s. I'm not military so the military isn't going to resupply my ammo in combat if SHTF happened. I would take a seam ripper and remove those pistol mag pouches, knife, and flashlight on the front ( that's what your pistol belt is for, I hate seeing pistols & pistol mags on vests and rigs. A GI pistol belt is like $6 at surplus ), get some webbing at the fabric store, and put full rows of MOLLE on the front to ad more AK mags, a meds bag, and trauma kit

    I'm too short for this rig. Even with all the straps on the shortest settings, I can't get this rig so it can be worn with a cummerbund, which was my intent. I stand 5' 4" tall and have a 28" waist so it's loose around the waist for me as well. Yes, it rides that low on me even with the shoulder straps as short as they will go. It's snug around my chest as I have a pronounced V shape, but the girth of my waist is too small and I'm too short in the torso area. I really wish Condor came out with smaller size options. Two sizes such as up to 5' 8" and another size for up to say 6' 8" for example.
    I love that Gerber Strong Arm. I have two of them and they are able to perform any task this knife is intended for.

      Well as stated in the review, this is a budget rig and not something used to go to war or use for training everyday. This is a perfect set-up for occasional weekend warrior use or storing long term in a closet for whenever it's needed.

      I was going to say pretty much the same thing. Never trim the straps on a chest rig. Two reasons: 1) You never know when you're going to need to adapt it to fit over things like heavy coats, or armor (if you ever decide to get into that stuff), and 2)If you decide to bench it when you can afford better gear, you may want to sell it. Cutting straps will wreck the resale value altogether, and you'll be stuck with it. I have the straight up molle panel chest rig from condor, and it's probably the only piece of gear that I've had from them that has survived everything I've thrown at it. Still, compared to my Mayflower UW rig, it's heavy, bulky, less versatile, and not as well constructed. I have totally destroyed some condor gear, and I have seen some that holds up. It's a crap shoot, but generally it's bulky and heavy for what it is.

      @@treerat7631 As I've said, I've put much Condor gear to heavy use in rugged terrain while training and it's held up fine. This is coming from a prepper type who usually sticks to surplus. I prefer military gear and will use Condor gear in combat ;)

    I'm a big Man, 500lbs. Call me a Gravy Seal, Meal Team 6, whatever. I can't fit a normal Tactical plate carrier because of my size, but this chest rig is an excellent fit. Plenty of MOLLE webbing for whatever you need to add. I carry a pistol holster tear off first aid kit, and Admin pouch. I can wear this all day with no problem. I recommend this highly for any one looking for a budget set up.

    Did you ever feel like the rig stuck out too far from your body with it fully kitted out with gear? I’m torn between this and the other condor chest rig that hold six mags in a row instead double stacked like this

    • @taylorbennion3706
      @taylorbennion3706 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I own this one and I personally felt that with the doubled mags plus the pistol mag pouches made the rig stick out more than I would prefer while being prone if you're still deciding a year later go with the thinner one is my suggestion still a great chest rig

    • @cthulhu6697
      @cthulhu6697 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@taylorbennion3706 Well, for cheaper than what he says he payed for the one in the video, you can get a RACK Vest, which is a great chest rig made specifically for the military and battlefield use and they hold up to whatever comes it's way. You get 3 rows of 20 loops each on the main field of MOLLE/torso, and 3 rows of 6 on the bib. Those MOLLE pouches can add up, but it's a chest rig that you can configure any way you like and something your kid will inherit, it's that good. They usually go for between $25 and 36 on websites like Ali Baba. A Google search for them will show you a zillion places to find them. I think the most expensive I've seen them was $40 in the Cheaper Than Dirt catalog. I have one that I've set up for .308 ( CETME and a copy of the FN FAL that I bought about 20 some years ago because in those days I couldn't afford the H&K G-3 and FN ). Coleman's Surplus has double packs of the 100 round SAW gunner pouches for $20 that are perfect for triple mag pouches for 20 round .308 mags

    Never been able to find it but what material is this made out of? Is it cordura?

    • @cthulhu6697
      @cthulhu6697 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Michael Mattson I don't think it's Cordura or it would be in bold letters on every tag, but like most Condor Gear, it's made of a very nice quality of strong nylon. I won't fall apart on you or fail you, even in real combat on a real battlefield. I personally know Soldiers and Marines ( I come from a big military area ) that have used all sorts of Condor gear in places like Afghanistan where the fighting was for real and your gear was among the many factors that helped determine your success. Of those that used various pieces/components of Condor gear, most said the various pieces of Condor gear they were using did not fail them. In my own experiences, I own several pieces of various Condor gear which I have put to heavy use and it hasn't failed me.
      The one time I ordered a piece of Condor gear that was "defective" ( some of the MOLLE loops didn't quite match up perfectly on what I seem to remember was a large utility pouch, it's been several years ago, 2016 in the middle of October I'm pretty sure ), I made Condor aware of it and they happily replaced it promptly and with no trouble ( I forget if I had to pay return shipping, but they covered returning it to me with a perfect one ). That is the only issue with Condor gear IME, and I own multiple high capacity rifle and pistol mag pouches, utility pouches, admin pouches, holsters, mag recovery pouches, large meds and trauma pouches, the advanced 3 day combat rucksack, hydration bladder carrier, 2 chest rigs ( are they as good as my Soviet military chest rigs and Spetsnaz Tac Vest, or my 5ive Star Gear RACK Vest? Of course not, but I'd confidently wear my MCR 1 in combat ), you get the idea. It's affordable ( sometimes it's worth it to buy something Condor gear that is more affordable than something that is basically the exact same thing yet costs twice as much because it's made by HSG, Black Hawk, etc....... ), well made, and, for my purposes, has held up just as good as some gear I've paid more for ( and when I'm running guns and gear in the heavily wooded, rural mountains where I live, I put my gear to the test ). I'm kind of a "prepper-ish" type guy and I normally stick with surplus gear, as it's generally superior to civilian gear in every way. For me to speak highly of Condor gear and heavily use it is a good endorsement

      @@willgowan3267 Its way back on the upper receiver. you want a nice balance, usually at the edge of the receiver where it meets the hand guard. A red dot does not need to come up to your eye like a magnified optic. Makes it harder for rapid target acquisition. Not surprised he has it so far back. He has quite a bit more to learn about tactical equipment let alone usefulness. Still a great video tho.
