Guys, how do you like this use of a piece of steel beam? By the way, I have one more piece left. Do you have any ideas what interesting things can be done?
For a switch get a float switch from a trash pump cut off the float and get a foot switch and attach it then plug the grinder in and plug it in to the extension cord
They are expensive for people who don’t have money like that. Maybe you do but not everybody has a couple hundred dollars laying around. This is a great idea and can be made with scraps.
@@nickprice7752 It is a nice build if you've got the skill and the free materials available. Hard to justify if you have to purchase the materials retail.
Well done video. Nice use of the car hub for the turn table mechanism. This would be a nice addition for cutting small items that are difficult to hold in place on my big metal chopsaw. I use car rear hub and spindle assemblies to make super strong gate hinges.
Uma serra meia-esquadria para esmerilhadeira... genial!!! Só falta fazer um tupia para metais com o outro pedaço... tem fresa boa aí?? 😅😅 Minha neta gosta de ver quando faz brinquedos para as crianças... 👍
And in the time it took to make that unit, you could have made/paid for a nice cold saw, which leaves 90% less flaming metal debris around the shop. With the other piece, make a vertical/horizontal stand for a portable bandsaw.
For an external switch I think I would add an electrical box with one plug socket for the cord and a switch where the other socket would ordinarily be. That should be available at home centers. For 120 volt appliances you should be able to run a cord from the switch box to a standard wall plug. Nice video.
As for the remote power switch, install a junction box to the beam, with a 3conductor cord, an outlet to plug the grinder in & a switch to turn it on and off. Had a similar situation, built a portable table for my mini disc/belt sander on one end, 6" dual bench grinder on the other. I made the choice to hardwire both to the JB because they both had switches. So I added two outlets to the box.
Love the ingenuity and the build! The import cost pressure here in the States makes those raw materials 2x's the price of a manufactured saw, let alone the tools to build it and the labor.
I think the more creative bit is actually the use of the wheel hub as a turntable base. But you’ve done that before I think. Everyone seems to love a good angle grinder hack!
I have a DeWalt Metal Chomp saw and can make any metal cuts I need. But, I have to say, you built a nice device to make some nice metal cuts also... Thumbs Up!
I thought I would make one of those, come in handy for my fabrication projects. Then I reached for my 355mm compound metal cutting chop saw to make a start and thought...HANG ON!!. Nice effort though and I take my hat off too you. Fascinating to watch.
Man I was really hoping this would be a home made grinder for sharpening knives or actually putting an edge on new knife blanks for cheap ...... Any chance you would be willing to do that next I don't know a lot about metal fabrication but I feel like this could easily be turned into one
Very nicely done ! 👍x 10. I really like the extra effort to paint & make it look professionaly done, My hat is off ! We could get along there aren't many people that will go the extra mile or inch even.
Neat. But just be sure to use a wheel bearing that doesn't rely on the splined half-shaft to clamp it together (many do require the large nut to preload the two sides of the bearing). I think this is why you can see some deflection in the bearing when the angle lock is tightened.
Mount it on a service truck, put it on a 2 wheeled-dolly, it sits on the plat at the bottom, unpin it and slide it up to working height(36"-40"?), pin it at set height. 2 legs on both sides of the dolly, can fold out to support your system. Portable Cut-off, Mitter/ Cut-off System(4"-7") Customize the dolly to in the down position too. For heavier material/ one man operation.
As for the spark catcher, your kid or an intern/new guy with a bucket is the standard. It is alot more fun when the grinder isnt fixed so they run around chasing your stream but will still get the job done
Yes, it’s very cute and nice, but I would expect most people would spend the money to buy a cheap cut off saw instead of investing all that time and energy I would rather make other things I think but at least you do nice work 👍
Drill 3/8 or 1/2" holes in the deck (like you find on an orbital sander) and apply a vacuum down through cutting deck. Won't eliminate sparks but will clean up nicely.
So many things I see on TH-cam might be cool but have zero practicality... This is something I plan on making very soon! I can already think of 3 projects this would help with.
This one is a good idea if you use angle grinder more than just casually. Prior to this video, I hadn't seen a useful one that wasn't more effort than worth.

Гора родила мышь
🤩🤩🤩
That is an awesome idea and really good fab work. Ill have to make one for home
That's fantastic! Now show me one using a 9" grinder!
For a switch get a float switch from a trash pump cut off the float and get a foot switch and attach it then plug the grinder in and plug it in to the extension cord
By doing things self you are training your brain , learning , and rewarding yourself with satisfaction
AND getting a useful TOOL to add to your shop 👍👍!!
The reason nobody has done this before is chop saws are readily available and not that expensive. Nice build though!
They are expensive for people who don’t have money like that. Maybe you do but not everybody has a couple hundred dollars laying around. This is a great idea and can be made with scraps.
Ok for third world countries but in the US anyone not on meth can afford a chop saw just about any day of the week.

Harbor freight @@nickprice7752
Really inexpensive at Harbor freight
For the top bolt holding side grinder, use the handle that came with it. Then you don’t reach over to push down.
I like the marking pen that cuts steel in one stroke!
Silly! That's not the marking pen! It's psychokinetic powers.
Seriously, All those perfect cuts without showing how you made them.
Hi. Excellent use of an old steel beam. I like how you transform ordinary things into interesting devices 👍
This is the first hand grinder attachment I have seen that doesn't compromise safety and is practical. Good job!
VERY well executed , for SURE !
Hahahahaha
A truly remarkable act of creative workmanship. You're a craftsman, not just a doer.
Excelente gracias por compartir tu trabajo.
Saludos desde Venezuela 👍💯✍️
Wow 🤩

Beautiful piece of work for a very specific job. A job nobody has!
Your work is always clean and on point. And such a great tool for the shop; well done

He does this for YT views

Parabéns muito bem planejado, show de bola 👏👏👏
Nice work! I have a chunk of I beam kickin around, but I already have a couple chop saws. But I appreciate your efforts.
Brilliant idea , Could be made of decent ply also 😊

Very cool! I always enjoy seeing the tools you create. 🙂
I am very glad that you liked it! Thank you for your high appreciation👍
@jodilea144 created or copied from others?

Thanks for your comment. I'm glad you liked it. I'll think about how to do what you described!
Top, excelente trabalho, obrigado por compartilhar conosco ❤
Good idea but there's so much better ways of doing it😢😢 I got a agree a lot of times spent😮😮
Cool! I thought you were going to use it as a steel bar bender, or mount it to garage ceiling beam as a pully system. Anyways, good job.
Very cool! I always enjoy seeing the tools you create.
What an awesome build. This is these DIY metal cutting cutting device made. Love it
A nice wee project, and as a bonus, I don't feel so bad about my welding any more.
Оцінка найвища! Вражає коректне відношення до тривалості перегляду - допоміжні та другорядні операції поза кадром. ДЯКУЮ!
This is actually brilliant, great way to recycle old parts into something useful. 👍👍 Nice work.
Que preciosidad..... Un afectuoso saludo.
Really good fabrication you did there. Color scheme is great too. I like the way your head thinks.
Muy bien fabricado
Excellent video without any bothersome music; just info!
Amazing I thought of doing this last night, exactly down to the colour scheme!!
That was the most intriguing tool build I've seen yet . Nice job . :)
RIDICULOUSLY good! Love the title... Ha haaa -- "old steel beam...: Right. A bit more to it than that, eh?
Very nicely done ! 👍x 10. I really like the extra effort to paint & make it look

that will go the extra mile or inch even.
Very cool! I had no idea what it was until it was finished!
You did a great job on the design and fabrication of that metal cut-off tool.
Thank you for your assessment. I like to do and invent something new
Admirable ! ❤❤❤❤❤
Your engineering is good, but your magic tricks are brilliant.
OMG. I hand to save this vid.
You earned my sub easily.
Thanks, from Clint in Virginia
That’s brilliant. I had no idea what it was going to be till I saw the angle grinder. Good job. Subscribing
Excellent useful tool ❤
great tool for regular users / fabricators, if you have the stuff and the brains why not, it will last forever
Very impressive design and final build !!!
Its amazing well done.
I used a old chop saw,.with metal cutting blade.
Wow! I want one of those pens that can cut steel!
That piece of metal cuts like butter 😂😂😂

You could sharpen chainsaw chains with this setup. Just make a holding device for the chain.
Hi. Thanks for such good advice, maybe I'll do it someday!
Very compact!
Muy inteligente e interesante
Super nice work my friend!👍
A wonderful video, full of interest from start to finish. Well done Vanya! It will be a pleasure to subscribe to your channel.

Какие ручки чистинькие.
I like it.
Bravissimo!!!

Awesome work, Vanya! Nicely done! 😊
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Very nice !!
Excellent.
Very well done!!

Nice build!
Very nice good job n design great winter project
WOW!!! Excellent!!!
Parabéns ficou ótimo. Gostaria de saber qual o nome dessa peça que você utilizou
The I-beam or the old front axle hub?
@@akbychoice: antigo cubo do eixo dianteiro , é de veiculo ? obrigado por responder .
Brilliant! Well produced!
Genius!
Nice project. Buying a Mitre Saw would have been more productive. Nice to hear a Professional Weldor weld instead of the Tack tack tack gang.
Well done!!!!!!!
Those markers are amazing. Where do I get some?
Yes, it’s very cute and nice, but I would expect most people would spend the money to buy a cheap cut off saw instead of investing all that time and energy I would rather make other things I think but at least you do nice work 👍
It may not be profitable to sell those, but it can be made from recycled materials and uses a grinder that he already has.
Looks pretty robust.
That’s not the point…😂😂😂 would you watch someone going and buying one from a store ???? … no that doesn’t make content
That's true, but I guarantee ol' mate's set-up will last WAY longer.
The only way I would use a tool like that is if you made it for me. There's no way I could do it. Great job.
WoW Bro, that is awesome! Nice work!
It’s very ingenious. A great job. I just don’t have time for it so I would go buy my own chopsaw for whatever it costs, what like $100?
Love it❤

Супер работа!
Mostly scrap material except for the spacers and already had the grinder. Win win in my opinion
Excellent craftsman ship
Wawww one of the best❤❤❤❤
I liked it so much, that I subscribed.
*I always love how we have to wait until the very end to know what it is that you are making 🙂 A mobile Mitre angle grinder machine 🙂.*
This is me all day every day 😂
Holy crap. You truly are a creative genius. Well done. Bty, how do you plan on replacing the hub bearing when it goes bad? Lol. Just kidding.
Oh I like that very nice
Nice!
very cool!
cool I have a 4x4 piece of angle iron, close as I can get!
Genial 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
