For a £1k detail I would be expecting the headlights restored and done with a ceramic coating. Looks good though 👍
Those lights from factory are foggy
Would be atleast another $500 for one layer of Ceramic Coating on the paint.

Love seeing a real deep clean done on something that isn't brand new.
Oh it keep it, restore it to its original state which is what you're effectively doing and keep it as a good, clean example of the original car.
I would keep the Merc buddy, it won't let you down as usually as the Rover!

I don't just buy cars from anywhere, I make sure the source is trusted
this is an asset that requires lots of money 💰you need to be conscious of every single step you take during it's purchase

Nice job ,but for a thousand pounds I would want the headlights polished and they could of flat and polished the bumper damage a bit better.

I remember my head teacher in 2002 had a brand new Avantgarde c230 Kompressor in bright red. It was the hottest thing in the car park, even trumped the School's Rector's CLC200. She STILL has the car with a very private 4 digit number plate.
That was the deal of year's end. I could have grabbed that rare clk in a heartbeat!!

Put some AMG monoblock wheels that this car originally came with on, as they suit the car perfectly! Also put that grill back to stock and you're good to go.

When you turn the handle to open the roof you are supposed to push the front section up about 6 inches. If it doesn't stay up there are 2 tension cables which can be tightened by removing the handle then the trim piece behind the handle.

I own a CLK from 2000 myself and they are becoming a rare sight these days. Because they had alot of rust issues what totaled these cars.
And It really makes me happy that somebody takes the time and love for this old Merc too shine again.

I’d keep it if I was you. I bought a 2004 CLK240 earlier this year and love it just for wafting about in. Great with the roof down. Quality looking cars.
Drivers side seatbelt at 19:20 is a perfect reminder of what this interior used to look like
Yes the seatbelts are filthy. The process to clean them is to remove them, unwind them, jet wash them, let them dry for days then put them back in. This is due to the tightly woven fibres with them being a safety device. It wasn’t possible to do in the time we had the car so we recommended replacement belts.
I have a 2000 clk230 kompressor convertible avantgarde in jasper blue which had sat for 5 years i cleaned it up fitted the genuine amg 5 spokes and it flew through the mot it is now my second car but i love it yours is a lovely looking car defiantly need the amg wheels for it mine has the blue and silver seats

Brilliant and outrageously good value, and cleaned up must be a super buy. So much so, I’m seriously looking to buy one.. so if you want to lend it to me for a weekend before I take the plunge feel free please....
I have a 1994 SL 81K genuine miles and love it, your car will make money if you hang onto it (for the price you paid keep it for summer trips) you cannot go wrong with this purchase. Be interesting to have some content on its mechanical status...aka if its been neglected aesthetically has the mechanical side also been neglected.

there is something really satisfying watching the deep clean unfold and seeing years of grime disappear, it certainly inspired me to get into detailing my own car, it's expensive but oh so rewarding
You can get some degreaser, heavy filler and a new matching leather paint to do it yourself. I did my own Rolls Royce steering wheel and came up a treat. The wheel had a big rubber hessian backed cover on that had dented the leather all the way round.
You're doing the right thing by this car!
What a glow up for the Merc! Can't believe how gross that centre console/armrest was. I'm thinking you should now do this as a regular feature on your channel. Buy a rundown but special car, clean it up and sell it on
Not sure why but a big part of me is wanting you to keep it, sort out all the exterior issues to factory condition, and keep that old merc going!

Great before and after video. 3 years older than my E46 Convertible. Pressure washer is too close to the fabric roof. They should have taken the seats out and definitely cleaned the seat belts. They aren’t scratches on the NSR wing it’s filler cracking. Apart from that it’s amazing what a good clean can do to lift the appearance of any car. I’m sure you will enjoy it a lot more now and it was cheap!

Wat a turnaround it’s a stunning motor now, gotta say I like the wheels but not the grill as an old merc owner myself there’s a certain feel good factor when driving such a well built sturdy old beast.
It's a great car for summer. Lots are very rusty at that age hence the cheap prices,yours has come up reasonably decent to be honest. I have one, paid considerably more but it's in very good condition overall. Where would you get a car of that quality for that price? Use it, enjoy it and it's also a future classic,decent looking convertible and if it’s been looked after not that expensive to run! The insurance is classic so much cheaper. One thing you forgot to mention was how much for a valet like yours? Enjoy it!

Wheeler Dealer the car! Re-trim steering wheel so people know what’s involved. Fix the bumper. I think that could be sanded
lightly & fillered rather than replaced, but again show the process. And defog the headlights. Then either sell and so the breakdown of profit. (As it’s only a cheap car) or Do a prize competition for a small fee with half the money going to charity and half to cover your costs. With one lucky winner! Cheers Joel 👍🏻

Yeah I noticed that too. Same in my car with white interior I was wondering how they would could clean that hard part. Seems they just didn't 😅
Seat belts are really hard to clean due to the tight webbing for safety. The only way to clean them properly is take them out and pressure wash them. (Time consuming)
Normally for £1,000 an extra day or two would be spent on the car and more attention would be paid to seatbelts etc. As we’re filming we try and do as much as possible in a day
The belts are like the steering wheel - with cream or grey it’s more cost effective to buy replacements, otherwise the process to clean is to completely remove them all from the car, lay them out, pressure wash them, let them dry for 4 days then reinstall. 👍😁
I think u should keep the car, retrim the steering wheel, change the seatbelts, and don't worry about the scratches bc they give it personality. Awesome video, really enjoyable!
