We are bananas about cruising! We started cruising in 2014 by doing a mini cruise on P&O Aurora. Making videos of our cruises and sharing our experiences has become our hobby - the complete video is filmed and edited on an iPhone. We may not be the youngest cruisers but we are trying to break the stereotype that cruising is for retired people. On a cruise you will normally find us wondering around the ship taking in the atmosphere (and working our way through the cocktails).

After being on Anthem for a 12 Night Canaries cruise this year, all I can say is WOW! Agree 100% with everything you guys have said and can’t wait to cruise on her again next year! Such an amazing ship with something for everyone.

Do they still have roller skating where they also did bumper cars I went on her twice in 2015 but I heard it's no longer available

Fantastic video! I will be sailing on Anthem next month and have watched several videos about the ship to get tips, the "lay of the land", etc... This by far has been my favorite. It's extremely informative. It's also helpful to get the view of 2 adults (as I am also not traveling with children). And - you guys just seem like a lot fun too. :) Thank you!

Great review guys. Glad you enjoyed your 1st time on RCI. Recent updates are good seeing we’re off on Anthem in 15 days for our 24th RCI sailing. Cabins look very similar to what we had on Wonder and feel roomier due to the design. Appreciated your review on Wonderland as we’re still deciding to try it. Hi! 15 days will soon be here! We really did enjoy Anthem it was fantastic. I’d say (Luke here) wonderland is worth a try, it’s more of an experience than a proper meal it’s quirky and fun, they didn’t mess around with the main course so it was still a nice hearty meal.
I’d go again, admittedly I wouldn’t rush to go there but it wasn’t bad.

Have cruised on her twice, Nov 2019 & March 2022 to Florida & the Bahamas out of Bayonne NJ. Had some activity limitations on the 2nd cruise due to COVID but otherwise a beautiful & fun ship. Beautiful photo ops sailing pass the Statue of Liberty & under the NY harbor bridge, also that 360 degree elevated view from the North Star observation globe is breath-taking. Plenty to eat & drink. The 'We Will Rock You' & 'Spectra's Cabaret' shows are outstanding. An added treat was the 'Frankie & the Dreamers' show for us older crowd. We missed the Kennedy Space Center tour because of the COVID restrictions but our excursions to Cocoa Cay Island Waterpark, Blue Lagoon Island, the Swim with Dolphins Encounter, & gift shopping in Nassau were lifetime memories. Planning to cruise on her again, but on the New England coast / with some Canada excursions agenda.

Anthem is my favorite ship. The first time I went on Anthem they had Dynamic dining. You went to a different MDR every night and kept same waiting staff. The menu was different in each. Silk was Japanese and was the first time I had Mochi. The nights it was The Grande, lobster was always the choice. I miss that style dining. You did a great review. We will be going back on Anthem next month.
That makes sense with the difference themes ! Very interesting to know! It’s kind of a shame they didn’t keep it but I guess they’ve compromised the menus to accommodate my time/ anytime dining which is a trend with most cruise lines these days.
We really had a fantastic time and we’ll definitely cruise with RCI again!

Lovely cabin and the food looked magnificent, especially the caramel pudding. I do think the internet should be included, even if the added the cost to the up-front ticket charge. Most people want access these days.

We’re happy that the internet wasn’t included if it makes the cruise cheaper, we usually like to get away from it all, too many people work while they’re on holiday which in my opinion defeats the object.
The chat feature should be included with the app not 1.99 pp per day that’s a bit of a con. MSC do it for free and it’s a great way of arranging to meet up with friends etc.

Now that you have done RC, you will want to do more! Oasis of the Seas is amazing as well. When my kids were younger, I loved Disney, but now RC is my favorite, well above Carnival and a bit better than Norwegian. I tried Celebrity... I'm just not that old yet, I like having stuff to do.
Hahaha! Yes we certainly want to sail wit RC again for sure, they have the right mix between fun and quality of food and service we had a blast! We’re trying our first celebrity cruise in Jan and looking forward to it and how they compare to RC it will be interesting to see!
We’d definitely like to try one of the oasis class ships but we’re going to have to go for at least 14nights! There’s just so much to do it’s exhausting trying to cram it all in! 😂

I'll be sailing transatlantic on Anthem in 5 weeks. I did the same on Odyssey last year; it's a sister ship and almost identical, although some of the dining spots are different. It's nice to see the differences in advance.

Ah, 12 nights would have been fab, we only had the 7! Oh yeah, BoB has a reputation for being rough, ours was on the way down!
Sailing on Ovation of the Seas in December from Sydney just had our first cruise on Coral Princess just 4 days but I loved it on the Majestic in November so we are trying to catch up on the years we've missed. Three ships left Sydney today first time more than 2 years so we are back Hooray!
Yeah, so happy to hear its getting back to normal now and ships are leaving Sydney with paying guests :)

ANTHEM is our absolute FAVORITE ship. We live in Brooklyn, New York - just drive less than one hour to Bayonne, New Jersey and board this amazing beauty! The sail away (sailing past New York City skyline, Statue of Liberty and under the Verrazzano Narrows Bridge never gets old to me). The Anthem takes good care of us for the remainder of our vacation. Anthem is a "must do"!

We have been a bit apprehensive due to cost but your review has provided a lot of information.........We got a good deal on the room but the deluxe drinks package seems expensive but feck it you only live once lol..........thanks again, keep up the good work
Oh fantastic! RC is not cheap, but you do get what you pay for and we found it one of our best cruises. We know several who will ONLY cruise RC. The staff cant do enough for you, the entertainment is good, the food is good and the drinks are strong. As you say you only live once so enjoy it to the max! Remember, get the North Start booked, you get one free go when in port, same as the Sky Diving, one free go!
Tip, if you get the drinks package online and it drops in price (that's the annoying thing with RC, they keep changing prices) you should be able to cancel it and then rebook at the cheaper price. Enjoy!
I loved Anthem. The ifly was awesome! I'll be doing that again on Anthem in December. Might even pay for the extra time fly.

We liked Anthem but felt all the entertainment areas were kind of cramped into one part of the ship. Smaller Royal ships have the nighclub on the most upper deck in the crown of the ship which we liked. Not in a rush to Sail on this class again and time to spread our wings a little. Great video tho guys! 👍

Oh fab, you’ll have a fantastic cruise. August you should be fine, the bay of biscay is known to be rough but it can also be super calm. They provide free sea dick tablets or you can pick some up before you go. Try not to worry or think about it a but august is probably one of the best months to do it 👍

They are selling the unlimited dining package for which you can't make reservations for while they continue to sell single reservations for premium restaurants to the point of selling out. Therefore the the reservations with the unlimited package won't be attainable. And once you get on the ship it's not refundable. Happy I checked before. I canceled the package. This is my first and last cruise with Royal Caribbean.
Oh we didn’t go for the unlimited one! Sounds a good job we didn’t!

Hi! Not booked Arvia yet, we would definitely like to cruise on her but we’ve got celebrity beyond booked for Jan going to the Caribbean so it kind of clashes hahaha.
We’ve never hated a ship to the point we wouldn’t sail on it again but the worst or our least favorite would have to be oriana or Oceana they were a bit dated MSC Preziosa was a bit odd, not a fan of the layout of the internal spaces it felt a bit claustrophobic.
Best ships we’ve been on are Iona, seaside and definitely Anthem.
As I’ve said we’ve not ever hated a ship it kind of depends on your mood and what you want from your cruise eg relaxed, fun or classy they’re all different with their own unique features and vibes.

We are going on Quantum of the seas, at the moment the deluxe drink package is $121 per day, Australian dollars. Which we think is way too much, so we are waiting till we board and hope we can get it cheaper. As this is our first cruise with Royal, and it's 18 days, I hope it will be a good cruise. Love your video's.
My experience..Nothing is cheaper on board compared to pre booking🚢😊

We we’re really lucky that RCI we’re doing a promotion on the drinks package for £40 pp pn this was fantastic value for money! Hopefully they’ll do a promotion or something keep an eye out 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 if not maybe your agent might be able to do something? Not sure though, but as they say “if you don’t ask you don’t get” so maybe worth speaking to someone.
It’s usually about £70 a day so 40 was a bargain! We bought it as soon as we saw it!
QUESTION: Just watched this. Informative as ever. We’ve never been on a ship with more than 2000 passengers! We want to know, did the AOTS ever feel crowded anywhere at anytime with over 4000 on board?
Hi! The only time the ship felt crowded was at the British style pub, schooners was busy at times but that was when perry grant was playing. There were a few large queues waiting for coaches but for the most part it didn’t feel too crowded at all we were pleasantly surprised!
@@CruiseMonkeys That’s good. I suppose my concern with that many passengers would be room on deck and round the outdoor pool on cruises to hot places. But I suppose they take that into account….. 😀
I will say this, on sea days we thought the solarium would be rammed, it was busy but we did always manage to find or see sun beds/loungers free, which we thought was brilliant. Anthem or any of the Quantum class ships are more suited to colder wetter climes as the top deck is about 75% enclosed/sheltered. The solarium, indoor pool and seaplex are all great for cold wet days👌🏻⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We have sailed with Anthem of the seas 5 times out of NJ . All was good until 2024 trip dirty cabin with stains on the bed cover. Service was way down from the past trips we have taken. We talked to the management on board and they felt the same. The ship is nice but somthing is definitely going on.

It depends on the port. In La Rochelle they did have free shuttles. I’m Bilbao it was 10euro. If it’s a commercial port you usually find they do offer them for free.

Do you think it’s better to book a Royal Caribbean cruise directly, or through a cruise holidays website? This ship looks amazing!
Hi 👋 It might depend where in the world you are located, we’re UK and for us it’s always better to use an agent. They usually always come in cheaper than going direct. Also we tend to use small travel agents which means they are easy to contact and will take care of you - sometimes it can be long waits to get through to the cruise lines directly.

Having done p&o multiple times and will have done princess a couple times , so my next cruise is going to be royal Carribbean or msc, I'm currently edging towards royal Caribbean, what are your thoughts ?
Royal Caribbean coming from princess, nothing wrong with msc we do like them but we’d definitely recommend RCI you’ll love it! 👌🏻

I have actually been on the Anthem of the seas 3 times the last was a 10 out of Bayonne, NJ to New England/Canada. I was not impressed with the service, or the hotel feel of the ship, and the crowding, and flow from one end of ship to other alone with the lack of outside sunning deck space. I have cruised on the other classes of Royal, the only one I have not is the Oasis class. Our food was never hot. I am Diamond Plus so was able to take a behind the scenes tour of kitchen which kind of explained why food was never hot. Having the Main Dining Room split up into the theme free dining rooms instead of the old 3 tiered Main Dining Room configuration is a contributing factor. I was originally booked on Quantum of the Seas when it was first to came out, we were one of the first passengers to book their complicated reservations for dining on this Class of Ships, It was to difficult for the average passenger, so it was scrubbed after the first year. But sadly to say the Quantium Class ships where already in the works so changing the drawings to go back to the 3 tier Main Dining Room was not an option. They just changed the menus instead. The best ship I think so far is the Serenade of the Seas. It has all the special restaurants except Wonderland, best staff/Crew overall. They work as one team, no one saying it is not my job you will have to go here or their. Service at front desk was super. Another ship that had a truly remarkable team of staff and crew where on the small ship Grandure of Seas. It was remarkable. Although it doesn't have all the bells and whistles, the crew and staff worked in making our cruise super fun. I have cruised on the Explorer of the Seas 8 times (it was my favorite before Serenade) while it was stationed in Bayonne. Sorry for the lengthy comment. I really tries to give Anthem a go, but to their favor the room layout for storage does get a thumbs up. Doorway layout on deck 12 does not lend itself for scooter access easily. You need someone to help you get your scooter in and out of cabin, the turning radios is to narrow. Also access to lounges was a problem as well. Well to those that love the Quantium class of ships, enjoy. Any cruise is a good cruise. I just have enjoyed some better than others it is the staff and crew that really makes or breaks a cruise in my opinion.

Princess or Royal Caribbean. We just did Sky princess on more or less the same cruise which did you prefer
Royal Caribbean, we do like princess but Royal Caribbean have it all sorted out, princess are having issues atm. We do like all of the fun features on anthem too! The bumper cars were so much fun!
What’s your thoughts on the ports, what type of excursions is there?
We’ve done the ports a few times so during this cruise we done all of our excursions DIY.
We went to;
The Aquarium in La Rochelle
In Bilbao we saw the big puppy and spider outside the Guggenheim museum and then took the funicular up to the viewpoint.
At la Coruna we went over to the Saint Anton fortress or castle which only cost a few euros and was a nice little walk over to, we’ve also been to the aquarium at la Coruna during our Regal Princess cruise.

When we sailed it was £40pppd, each adult in the cabin had to buy it. Believe that a special offer and it’s now around £60-£70pppd, so not cheap. Hope that helps
Strange tis NOT reported that the Ship LOST Propulsion on Wednesday (12th Oct) and was adrift for 7 hours...lol.
My mate is Cruising with his family and its NOT good when that happens.

I am booking to go on my first cruise next year and am going on Anthem of the sea. I am a little confused re the part you mentioned re Internet. Is there no WiFi?
Ohh, good choice, Anthem is amazing! Wifi on cruise ships is expensive and can be slow and unreliable as they use satellite technology. If internet is important, keep an eye once booked as they may have deals on the 'my cruise' site where you can buy extras such as Wifi. Expect to pay around $13 a day per device for a basic package, if you want streaming you may need to pay more. In port you may be able to use your mobile data or ask the crew/look out for where the crew go and you'll find free wifi.
Gym definitely taking up prime spot on ship...also think bar/lounge would be better.

Can’t remember seeing any sorry! They had the Coke machines dotted around but you needed the package for them.

How much are the gratuities on Antgem for a 12 night cruise

Just catching up we are absolutely shattered 25 nights of abuse to our bodies. Too much food drink and walking but a really fab time. Did they have any deck sports ,choir or other daytime activities
hope your bodies are recovering! Didnt see choir but they did have the usually deck sports and other activities such as games, quizzes and thinks like napkin folding and etc - not that we did any sorry!

Can someone please tell me if the anthem like BUTLINS?? I’m on the anthem in October but thinking about cancelling as it all looks abit red coat.
Last did Butlins around 30 years ago and was only 10 so can’t remember much 🤣 so no idea sorry. We found the entertainment etc good on there, wasn’t particularly cheesy or amateurish, similar to other family cruise line’s entertainment

Afraid we don’t tend to visit the shops other than to get a ship model but there’s usually loads of them selling clothes, essentials and souvenirs
