Cutiefly is currently being used in UUbers as well. It’s absolutely hilarious to see a bunch of strong Pokemon and legendaries and then the occasional cutiefly.
Cutiefly got tired of beating up kids its size; now it’s squaring up to fight professionals
That being said, people normally use Masquerain because intimidate is more valuable and 95 speed is still not enough to outspeed stuff like Chi-Yu.
Why don't people use mons like masquerain and vikavolt, weak web users have to carry sash anyway, so why cutiefly?
@@user-SugoMaBa11s It’s still fast + shield dust + fairy type
I just wanna know why gamefreak decided that koraidon, miraidon, flutter mane, AND chien pao all needed to be base 135 speed. and then to top it all off why did iron bundle get to be base 136? it's hilarious and baffling
All the future Paradox Pokemon (except Miraidon) have exclusively even-numbered base stats, while the ancient ones (except Koraidon) have odd-numbered stats. Had Iron Bundle been an ancient Paradox instead, it probably wouldn't have that would-be-random speed creep of 1 point.
With Miraidon and Koraidon I think they just wanted to guarantee they'd be amazing and 135 Speed is a way to do that (and they're bikes, I think thematically it makes sense and Cyclizar is really fast too). Flutter Mane, Chien-pao and Iron Bundle are just silly though, I agree. Although to be fair, with Chien-pao and Iron Bundle, they HAVE to have high speed to be good. A slow Ice-type is a complete disaster.
@@iss2075and Flutter Mane‘s stats are just a more extreme version of Misdreavus‘ and Mismagius‘ stat spreads. Still, 135 SpAtk, SpDef AND Speed is extremely silly to put on a single Pokémon, even if all the other stats are pretty mediocre/bad
@@iss2075130 or 125 should be fine. Flutter mane stats is even more minmax than Darkrai and Mewtwo and it can oneshot them easily
It is also worth noting, when talking about Flutter Mane, that it really likes its Speed boost from Protosynthesis, and Sticky Web dropping its Speed makes Special Attack its highest stat instead, which ruins the way it wants to be played in Uber.
I used Ribombee last gen and it was wild how few people were using it at the time, especially since its a sticky Web setter that can outsped and ohko greninja (assuming no shuriken shenanigans)
My favourite Ribombee strat though is giving it skill swap since if the other team has Hatterene and you lead with Ribombee, you can either swap over magic bounce immediately or predict the switch to Hatterene - which always safely allows Ribombee to set up webs.
Last gen was a lot more generally bulkier with most of the faster threats using boots as their preferred item (Weavile, Zeraora, Dragapult, etc.). This gen offense is really strong and a lot of the faster threats cannot afford to use boots, generally when offense is good webs are good.
being able to skill swap magic bounce and use status conditions to cripple other leads is also a great reason for using ribombee as a webs lead
As a day one ribombee lover its sooo nice seeing it and even cutiefly do super well.
Another thing I think worth mentioning is that, while less influential in Ubers than OU, Ribombees ability is shield dust which prevents something like a fake-out flinch or say prevent burn from a move like flamethrower which would likely kill it through focus sash with the burn damage. That combine with the high speed nigh guarentees ribombee gets two moves on the field and with such a shockingly strong support moveset you can really tailor it to what your team needs. Or just click moonblast off of an actually respectable special atk stat
Gotta love how a cute little bee is thriving with all the big, mean, intimidating legendaries in the tier
Cute little bee: can I join you guys?
Uber mons: what can you do?
Cute little bee: I'm pretty fast and can spread sticky little webs
Uber mons: welcome aboard
Ribombee is the kind of Pokemon that I'd love even if it was untiered trash.
Well, now you have an excuse to use it even more as it is a great pokemon.
forget ribombee, cutiefly is as viable in ubers as freaking darkrai and dialga as well
Darkrai is not viable in UUbers. It’s just that it is slowing dropping to unviability.
I feel vindicated. Been a Ribombee fan since Sun/Moon's release and always knew it had potential. That stat spread is something else.
I haven't watched the video yet but Ribombee is so influential in Ubers that it's pre-evolution Cutiefly is highly rated in UUbers/Ubers UU
Neat analysis video! Thanks foruploading!
I'm so happy to se this Gen 7 have so much success. I definatly think it's deserved
"Everyone thought he was useless but he unlocked a cheat SSS rank skill and now he fight among gods!"
That poor frozen Miraidon 🥶
Most legendaries before G8 had a speed under 100, it wasn’t until G8 that speed creep really hit and thus speed control became more valuable
so cool to see my favorite mon doing so well
Ribombee seems like it fits in ubers because the ubwrs meta is so fine tuned to be punished by it. I dont see this changing unless a fire or steel type legendary works its way up to ubers through teir shifts and dlc or by finding a counter to the ribombee sticky web set; kinda like how gen 1 OU at one point boiled down to braking the alakazam speed tie to para the opponents ala and overwhelm the rest or the team until people realised that Chansey could take paralasis and not get overwhelmed.
Well, it's also a Fairy-type. It can probably outspeed and OHKO the box legendaries so it's not like it's dead weight after it spits its Web.
Something noteworthy you missed for rapid spinners is Cyclizard. While not technicly rated Ubers itself, Shed Tail is.
Wasn't Shed Tail banned? Or was that only for OU and below, and not Ubers?
@@ryans8081 Unless specified otherwise all bans are OU and down. Originally Ubers wasen't even technicly a tier, it was just the OU banlist. Only really started to take off after gen 5 or 6 iirc, then the past gen players also picked it up.
Sticky Web new meta baby!
tl;dr sticky web
Imagine finding this cute mosquito on your first day as a trainer, and some months later the both of you are going toe to toe with literal gods.
I love Ribombee! I had no idea it was so heavily used in Ubers, that's awesome!
Team freeze 🔛🔝
I remember not liking Ribombee too much in gen 7 as 'just another glass cannon', but it came in so clutch when I played Pokemon Rejuvenation. I thought it sucked because every type that resists fairy also resists bug, but it's not meant to be a late game sweeper. It's the fastest non-legendary (or paradox) fairy type. For a normal playthrough, there's very few things that can outspeed it, and being able to OHKO any of the 5 types it hits super effectively is very useful.
I don't remember this part of the 🅱️ee Movie...
I love my Ribombee, i nicknamed it Hey!Listen!
The next Evolution to the Ubers metagame will be trick room and speed lowering natures.
Ribombee SWEEP baby!
I'm still getting PTSD flashbacks from Totem Rimbombee in USUM. That thing was worse that Ultra Necrozma.
I always thought volcarona should get sticky webs
Cinccino will come soon with scarf + rockblast to stop that little bug
Hope that ribombee survives after the inclusion of Smeargle🤞. Its so cute.
MY BOY
Quiverdance is also pretty amazing
4 minutes to say "Sticky web"
It is also four minutes to say “there are far too many Pokémon that speed tie and far too many Dragon-types”.
Uber: we have some most Statistically monstrous pokemon and a cute little bee.
WE ARE SO RIBOMBACK
Didn't watch the video yet but I have a pretty good feeling because the fairy bee is just really cute
Ribombee so awesome
Ribombee so cool
Basc dominates with webs
All these questions and laughs….there’s a crowd watching the fight. Why are they watching a god fight a god from 2 feet away?
Thinking what will happen when Smeargle is released in Indigo Disc...
My DWB koraidon destorys all ribombees.
My guess is sticky web and fairy is good against koriadon and miradon
Did Freezai sneak a pun into the video or am i losing it?
0:35 "the nuance of why webs are specifically *Slow* good in generation 9 is the interesting part of the discussion".
Can we appreciate how Freezai never fails to touch his fans balls?

Bruv and people wonder why I use tera water heatran in ubers
Tfw a smol bee has more usage than satan himself
Hot take: Gen 9 competitive gets weirder and weirder everyday
Btw ice rider is ranked 7 place in ubers as of last month. Jimothy Cool made a video about it, and I am in it as well because I kinda made a suggestion for it because I thought it would be interesting to talk about. The reason it is good is it counters sticky webs by trick room, and tera fire makes it resist moves like behemoth blade and koraidon's flare blitz and it prevents burns so it could actually get the trick room up. Turns out a 165 attack pokemon with moxie, a stab 120 bp ice stab, trick room, and solid ground coverage is good when it can actually use its tools before dying.
Fast webs.
I thought Iron Treads had genuine usage in Ubers, did that change?
They were decent in the first gen 9 meta, specifically to counter some sets of miraidon, but fell off hard because of home release
It has a 7.9% usage rate in ubers (21st used) as of today, so it's still around but not too influential
Is Glimmora not a viable option here?
Has its own hazards to be obnoxious with that are hard to remove, threatens ribombee out and can mortal spin for removal?
The problem is that Glimmora's not great on its own, and Ribombee commonly runs Tera Steel specifically to stop anybody who thinks they're being cheeky with Glimmora's Mortal Spin.
Amoogus

What fast sticky webs does to a mf
Why isn't Toxic Spikes a top strategy if hazard removal is so poor in gen 9 Ubers?
Also, lot's of major offensive Mons prefer being poisoned to burned, paralysed or spored.
For one, Toxic Spikes can be removed by switching in a Poison-type (And Eternatus and Toxapex are both good in the format), and for two, poison doesn't matter if you can outpace it.
Why's it so good? Ever played a draft before? When your spinner is golem, people will just stack hazards on you. Same thing
Wait WHY is regieleki not good in Ubers?? Electric terrain and specs and what’s going to survive??
There are a bunch of bulky grounds used in Ubers to help contain Miraidon that would also box in Regileki, making it a tough sell. Tera ice is not enough to save it since T-blast is only 80 bp + STAB and doesn't get terrain or Transistor boosts, not to mention using Tera on it is probably a bad idea.
It has upsides and can be catered to, but it's nowhere near a staple or common strat in the tier
You either give Ribombee focus sash or you dont use it at all
@@enoyna1001maybe a cheeky quiver dance and you're out speeding everything basically.
And that's exactly why I love my Contrary Enamorus
@@UGMD That's pretty much it, it's a bit tedious but when you can come in with terra fire, gain +1 speed, hit a superpower and gain another +1 atk/def, it is satisfying.
When there's a webber, I terra my Ena early unless I need my terra for another mon and hit the webber with a strong fire-terra blast before switching.
Saying there are no "uber caliber" hazard removers is odd because Ribombee itself is not "uber caliber" either. Assuming a pokemon has to be uber to be good in ubers is a wrong assumption to put forth, as ribombee itself has shown
it’s sticky web, isn’t it?
Where’s the tournament videos man
Ribonbee is a top 10 Pokemon in Ubers, the format meant for legendary Pokemon. *WHY?*
why isn't arceus considered an uber pokemon that can learn defog?
Arceus used to be able to learn Defog in Gen 7 and before (and wasn't available in SwSh gen 8), but Arceus had some old moves deleted from its movepool in gen 9, and Defog and Refresh were among them. Kinda like how Gliscor can no longer learn Roost and Heatran can no longer learn Toxic, to name some other examples.
Ribombee is a top 10 Ubers, a format MEANT for legendary Pokémon. Why?
Answer: because hazards are even more OP with weak hazard removal, pretty obvious lol. Hazards are busted
If only they made a legendary with great support.
@@mr.lantern1111 there is Arceus, but imagine if he had a better speed, and had webs and spikes
@@stephenveerasammy3074 I stand by the idea that Terapgos is going to be comically busted defensively.
@@mr.lantern1111 I think so too, I think its ability is going to have something to do with changing its type to resist attacks and stuff.
They would definitely make it a support and offensive titan with massive bulk and special attack with either an average speed(70-90) with shell smash or a 30 base speed with trick room and make it neutral or resist all moves and deal neutral stab to all types. It will at least get stealth rocks, too, I think. Basically, either shell smash God or calyrex ice rider on crack.
Now rimbombee isnt 8# 🤓
Ribombee is a top 10 pokemon in ubers, the format meant for legendary pokemon. Why?
Hi
Strong Pokémon. Weak Pokémon. That is only the selfish perception of people. Truly skilled Trainers should try to win with the Pokémon they love best. And that best suit the meta.
90 of ribombee players just use it was a suicide lead💀 karen quote might apply in UU since ribombee can be used outside of sticky webs lead
1. It’s faster than most legendaries
2. It sets up sticky webs.
3. Good offensive typing with Fairy.
There. Saved you the watch.

Ribombee is a top 10 pokemon in Ubers, the format meant for legendary pokemon. Why?
Why can't people just use Ariados😭 max HP and defense Ariados lives Surging Strikes from a Choice Band Adamant Urshifu-Rapid
Because no one uses rapid strike urshifu in ubers or even uubers as well as its low speed.
Reason: Because ghold is a "balanced" pokemon and hazard removal was nerfed cuz that makes the game more fun.
This is the kind of comment you make when you read 3 other comments in competitive videos
Ribombee really wasn't content with just being a genuine OU presence, so it went a tier higher to be a genuine Uber presence. Honestly, I respect the hustle.
