I purchased one of these a couple months back after TheRcSaylors recommended it. I must confess that I really didn't care for it. It became the first plane of mine that I gutted to use the parts elsewhere. Ended up putting the electronics into a super simple balsa glider with 780mm wingspan that I had slapped together. Made for an amazing low & slow flyer. Plus, I already have a QF008 Boeing 787 which has the same setup as the A100 but in a more stable/less-twitchy platform. However, if you are happy with the A100, then I am happy for you. :)

The QF008 787 is certainly the best bang for buck in the series. (It's probably the missing A140.) Our A150 747s probably just shade it for flying but the 787 would have suited your project best - comes already in bits and was on sale here for 47 Ozbucks with 2 batteries (local warehouse.)
Great little twin tailed glider by the way. :-)

I have this. It’s OK. At the very least you learn about elevator control. 3 cons: 1. If you land/crash nose first it will break in two. Happened to me twice. Hot glued it back together. 2. Need a lot of room to fly. ie. you can’t make tight CONTROLLED turns (especially right hand). But it banks well. 3. Motors burn out often. I burned out both motors after 25 batteries. I replaced with tinywhoop 716 motors. I soldered connectors onto the wires on the wings so now it’s plug and play.
Conclusion: Good fun flyer for $40. However even if you are a beginner you are better off getting one of the Eachine mini warbirds...p51 mustang, t-28 Trojan, or f4u Corsair.

im a rc noob, got this bad boy and f4u from banggood. they are both fun, true, i find f4u easier to control. i find j11 looks more elegant in the sky, but somehow harder with altitude control.

I like this Jet, I flew it today and it draws people's attention. I few stopped by just to watch it fly. The stabilization works well, you have to let it calibrate properly flat on the ground right after you turn it on, otherwise it will go very unstable. I fly all mini Eachine and Volantex planes and of course they are more precise, but this is a little different because it looks really good on the air and it will challenge you quite a bit, especially if it's a little windy, but it is a lot of fun to fly.

Thanks for the review. I love the fact that this is supported by the multi protocol module. No need for the toy Tx and if / when you break the model the parts can be reused.

Moving down market with the slide in the Mexican economy there mate? :P
The XK A1?0 series are good cheap fun for us old foggy Cane Toads. The 7x16 motors on this can be upped to the 7x20s used on the later ones (plenty of room for a bit bigger battery to balance.) Or 8x16 if you dremel out the grips. Whatever you have on hand from a Reject Shop quad. :)
The right hand shoulder button switches the gyro stabilization to enable you to do loops and even fly inverted if you have the skills. (Watch Tonsuke Koma) - channel 5 on Pascal's protocol listing of the V911S. (Shown as "Calibrate" since it is used to be able to trim the little heli for a stable hover.) "Big Rudder Operation" is XK's version of Chinglish gibberish for "Switch Gyro Stabilization" as in ..."When the rudder is pressed, the indicator on the remote will flash and the aircraft can do some tumbling. Press the big rudder switch first, then pull the upgrade rudder rod to pull the ribs." Tickles my ribs anyhow! :D
As to cons...The EPP foam is great but, as Gimp Man says, a hard nose-in will snap the nose off - glue gun and/or pre-emptive bamboo skewer. To make tight turns with the differential motor steering you need to keep the revs up then it'll flip round smartly. Bit hard to remember when you're headed for the scrub! ;-) If you are having trouble turning as he says I'd check for a bad motor or fido fluff round the prop shaft. The motor connecters are a great idea. 1 real fault this has (corrected later in the series is the loss of signal failsafe. 1 motor stops and 1 goes flat out - probably meant to make it spiral in. Pretty well guaranteed to stuff a motor while you're looking for it!
GM's recommendation of the Volantex/Eachine mini warbirds is seconded for most folks but for raw beginners/doddery Old Farts the Volantex V761-4 Sport Cub (slightly bigger 4-channel version of the little Trainstar you had a good giggle about some time ago) is bang-for-buck without equal today. And available off and on from the Oz Banggod site!
Lastly, if the downsizing is going to be a permanent feature, get the grandkids to pick Poppy up an XK X520 off Oz Ebay for Christmas. Sub-250gms but more your usual performance level. Be interested in your take on it.

Different things for different people... Wow, I'm SOOO wrong for this kind of model! I'm not a fan of 'easy RC'.
[As I said in another Comment recently, this one is absolutely NOT a criticism of Andrew - who's a top bloke - but just a personal opinion about the hobby.]
For me, buying bits or making kits or spending hours designing and building something is 50% of the fun of aeromodelling. I LIKE the anticipation and having to wait for the climactic big moment (steady on, chaps).
I avoid projects that need gyros or sensors or auto-stabilisation whatsits. I wanna FLY, not stand back and watch; and if a model is unflyable without assistance, I'd rather not get involved. (I love driving, too - the idea of an autonomous vehicle is just... wrong to me.)
If a car or a plane has a brain, it's telling me I don't need one of my own.
But I enjoy the risk and sense of jeopardy in RC. Like a lot of people, I spent months learning how not to crash (yep, in both Mode 1 and Mode 2) under the watchful eye of Bob - every flying site needs a friendly Bob - so that I'd hopefully be of some use at a time when trainer (buddy-box) leads weren't an option, planes cost a fortune and couldn't fly themselves, and a newcomer arrived needing a hand.
Hard work isn't work if you're having fun. I still sew my own KAP and KAV kites from scratch. Investing time makes me care more about what I'm doing. I do all my 'normal' RC flying on a simulator these days because I refuse to register and pay an unfair tax on my hobby (I'm based in the north of England), but scratch-built sub-250g outdoor stuff is still fun when the weather permits.
I remember losing a free-flight rubber-powered model to a thermal when I was a kid - I cried. Pretty pathetic, huh? I actually CRIED as I chased and stumbled across a ploughed field after a couple of ounces of balsa, tissue and a long rubber band. Never saw it again. I'd hand-carved the prop from a balsa blank, too. Sob, sniff...
Unless I put a bit of myself into a project, I don't really care what happens to it. So I don't like RTF models.
Yes, I know that makes me a despicably grumpy dinosaur destined for extinction. But that's fine. Different things suit different people.
At least the kind of instant gratification RTF RC Andrew's showing here will get people out of the house and flying and perhaps kindle a deeper interest in other aspects of aeromodelling. Sorta. Kinda. Maybe.
There's more to this great hobby than entering PINs and writing cheques. ;-)

Different folks, different strokes. We approach the hobby from a completely different angle. But hey, as long as everybody is having fun there's room for us all. 😉
