This is my most favoritest cookie of all time! Most recipes for jam thumbprints say to put the jelly in after the cookie has been baked… so much better if you cook the jam!!!And our family saves the egg whites to roll the cookie balls in then roll them in powdered pecans, then put the jam in..
I got my COOKBOOK. Thank you so much. I read it cover to cover the first night. I am so excited to make all of the recipes, my husband is more excited than I am. He gets to eat them all too. 🥰
I loved how my cookbook was wrapped when it came in the mail, it was like a Christmas gift!! Thank you so much, my daughter has already been marking the recipes she wants to make, so far the oatmeal cookies are her favorite to make. Happy holidays!!!
If you use the back of a round measuring tablespoon, to make the "thumbprint", it's easier to prevent cracking the side, allowing jam to roll out. Also, we use saltine crackers, to add a touch of saltiness to your other "candy". We also sprinkle semi-sweet chocolate chips over the top, once it's removed from the oven. We put a tent of foil, or a pan big enough, to fit over the entire pan, so the residual heat will help melt the C. Chips enough to spread it to cover the top. One cooled, it easily breaks into pieces, like peanut brittle. We call it Christmas Crack, because it's addicting. Thanks for sharing your family traditions. Glad you are on the mend.
Hello from the other side of Canada (NB) Glad you're feeling better. There has been a lot of pneumonia this year. I love thumbprint cookies. They melt in your mouth, I think I probably prefer them over shortbread. I also have a electric mixer with the wire beaters because I thought it would be better, not liking at all. I thought there was something wrong with me. lol. Love your videos. Waiting for Canada Post to resume so I can purchase your book, Can't wait. Hugs from NB ❤
It's hard to believe in spite of being so sick you still got so much done. That's one reason why I love your channel - I can watch someone actually doing everything and still with a smile. It is so very encouraging to watch and get inspired to do fun things like you do. I'm so happy you decided to do a YT channel. I'll be making your cookies tomorrow - using strawberry jam from a couple years ago. I was so excited that I made too many jars and this will be the best way to use them. Merry Christmas.
I am in PA, USA. Its been cold here, below freezing, but no snow yet except for flurries. The candy recipe we call "Christmas crack". It's so addicting. LOL
I can't really use my thumb to make the imprint because my nails are long. ( that's also why I always wear gloves 😂) . I use an old bottle cap that I attached a metal piece of rod to. It's worked great for 45 years. I just dip the cap in powdered sugar to keep it from sticking to the cookie. When my daughter moved out; I made a gift box for her and I included 2 of them ❤! She still has them 18 years later and now my grandkids use them too.
Here in northeastern Maine, we had 4” of snow, it went down to 1° Fahrenheit, 53° three days later, then rain & heavy wind resulting in power out for 12 hours or so, which is unheard of here. Today it’s back into the teens & 20’s.
Remember the Pecan farmer that said Pee can is something grandma had next to her bed so she wouldn't have to go to the outhouse in the middle of the night. He said trust me. We are 4 generations of pecan farmers with over 2,000 trees. Great grandpa would be rolling over in his grave if any of us pronounced it Pee can!! Lol. True story❤❤❤!
We got snow end of November. It melted away 10 days later. Next day we got again snow around 20 cm . This week was down to -30°C with windchill -42°C. Went to Winnipeg yesterday for Symphony Handel's Messiah. Was a chilly walk from the parking lot to the church. 😂
Omg I’m so excited I ordered your cookbook last night and I just got a notification that it was shipped!!! I live in the United States in the state of indiana!!
Make sure to take it easy i had pneumonia in September was hospitalized. Was told ot could takes months for my lungs to heal from it.Hope you get better soon .thanks for the recipes they look yummy ❤
Hello Chelsea and Family from South Australia..we are heading for a 40degree Celsius day tomorrow and summer has just started.....Love watching your channel.
I make several batches of peanut brittle for friends, family and our church staff. I love sharing with the people I love. ❤️ Merry Christmas and stay healthy!
For years our family makes thumbprint cookies also. Our recipe is the same but has a little almond extract in it, then you roll the balls in fine chopped almonds before making the thumbprint. We also put the raspberry jam in before baking. They are soooo delicious and beautiful on a cookie tray.
Interesting!!! I make the cookies, the bake, the make the thumbprint and then the jelly. I'm going to try it your way. Listen to your body and take it easy!!!
We make Crazy Candy but we pour the caramel over saltines. When it comes out of the oven you sprinkle chocolate chip so they melt and what ever toppings you want. We put chocolate chips white chips and Mimi MMs, rec and green. It was beautiful.
Thanks for sharing your recipes! Yes.... don't forget to rest! Always appreciate your channel...I still need to order a cookbook.. unless you can send one free!😊
I love how you and your husband interact with each other and how he is always ready to help. God bless your family from 🇬🇧 we call those raspberry buns my husbands favourite always around our house.
Weather in NE SD is warmer than normal. Even after living here for most of my life, I'm still not used to it. About the time I get used to it being frigid, it warms up!
So glad you're feeling better love the look of what you've made today and the answer about the weather where we are cold and raining on and off I live in Plymouth in the UK 🇬🇧 and because I'm living in the city centre area not too far from the sea as it's coastal we very rarely get snow here unless you are more inland on higher ground
I use to make your radio cookies with my grandmother but we called them clothespin cookies because we used a round headed clothespin to make the indentation. Your video brought back special memories. Thank you for sharing your many recipes.
I JUST did the same thing with my Cuisinart hand mixer! I actually killed the motor on it but I specifically looked for the thicker beaters because I strongly disliked the thin beaters. I bought the same Hamilton Beach mixer for that very reason. ❤ I noticed that on your last video.
We are also having a mild winter here in the middle of Sweden. We have the same climate as you (same zone) but your summers usually are a bit warmer than ours. We seldom see more than 80 degrees C in the summer, but we are also between 0-3c with just a little snow on the ground and a bit minus at night. Hope you are feeling better and have a great Holiday!
Hi, The marzipan slice tart you made, is very famous in England, it's called a "Bakewell tart" named after the village of Bakewell. Also if you swapped the vanilla extract for almond extract, you'd have the same flavour profile as your marzipan slice, delicious 😋😋😋
Thanks Chelsea for sharing your recipes ❤. I just made Raspberry Shortbread Thumbprint cookies the other day, very similar and they freeze well. I'll be giving the candy recipe a try for sure. Take care and get well soon. Love your channel 🤗
Hi from Australia, out here we call them Jam drops, make the dough and roll out the biscuits, put the dent into the top and bake 10 minutes, pull out of the oven if necessary poke another hole in the top and place jam into the dent, replace the biscuits back in to oven for another 10 minutes, remove from oven. This keeps the jam soft, not dried out by the oven yummo
As per the weather: I'm in the Lower Mainland and haven't gotten a single frost yet in my area! It's been close, like 1 or 2, but no actual freeze! That's super unusual for December, so we'll have to see what comes our way for the rest of winter!
Nice to see you again today, but please continue to rest. You are still quite pale looking, though I realize it could be lighting issue as well. Cookies look delicious. I am making the thumbprint jam cookies as well as soft chewy cookies tomorrow and Sunday.
I’m I can only be up and about a few hours a day at this point. The rest of the time I’m conducting from the couch. Lol My family has been amazing and so helpful.
@ I’m glad for you, your family is very supportive of all you do. Sending you prayers for healing and speedy recovery. Blessings for you and your family in all forms!
Cold here in Central Ohio. Have been battling bronchitis so I know what you mean about no energy. I am surprised at how long it is lasting too. I hope your energy comes back and you feel better
My grandmother and then my Mom used to make the raspberry thumbprint cookies every Christmas as well. Ah memories.
My mom called her cookies "clothes pin cookies" because she made the insert with an old fashioned clothes pin (peg). Delicious!
This is my most favoritest cookie of all time! Most recipes for jam thumbprints say to put the jelly in after the cookie has been baked… so much better if you cook the jam!!!And our family saves the egg whites to roll the cookie balls in then roll them in powdered pecans, then put the jam in..
I love the sound of Martha’s firebox as she gets roaring.🩵
I got my COOKBOOK. Thank you so much. I read it cover to cover the first night. I am so excited to make all of the recipes, my husband is more excited than I am. He gets to eat them all too. 🥰
I'm so happy you like it!!

In Australia we call your radio cookies - Jam Drops … where I live it’s summer and extremely hot, the other day it was 44 Celsius 111 Fahrenheit…
I’ve seen the thumbprint cookies for many years, but I’ve never made them. This might be the year! Thanks!
I’m in SE Texas, we’re still having 60’s and 70’s during the day but next week it shows us in the 50’s. So we’re having a mild winter too.
I love making thumb print cookies. I will forever think of them now as your radio cookies.
That would make my grandma smile.❤
We’ve now made this Christmas Crack twice now and set to make it a third for family gatherings and it has been a huge hit! Thank you for sharing 😊
You are amazing, mom, so inspiring
In Australia we call them Jam Drops and are a favourite for sure 😋

The crazy candy looks so good! I’d never guess they’re that easy 😊
That’s how we pronounce it in the U.K.! 🤪🤣
It’s a Canadian thing. lol
My PA Dutch father said Peecun. I learned PeCann in college. 😉
So good to see you today everything looks like Christmas. love your wood stove and I am so glad you're feeling much better. God Bless!!

We used to call these Rock Cakes and were served them for pudding/dessert in primary school lunches. What you guys call Elementary school I believe. ❤
Rock cakes in the U.K. are crumbly sultana cakes, similar to a scone recipe.
I received my cookbook today. I'm following along with you. Love these cookies. Glad you are feeling better.
