Gosh Amy look at what you’ve achieved! I’ve watched you since the start and you’ve been such an inspiration to me through some of the tough times with my own health issues and it’s so wonderful to see you being able to take these steps towards new adventures. My carers just became full time and it’s a bit of a change, but it’s something that will inevitably help me. I rent a house and I have a small spare room but keep dreaming that one day I’ll be able to own my own. I was in a gorgeous little bungalow but I was evicted last year (for no reason, my landlord evicted 8 other families from houses too) and now I’m back in a 2 story house with brittle bone disease, seizures, osteoarthritis, FND, CIDP, cataplexy and about 10 more other diagnoses. Stairs are hard for me, but I had no choice because there were no bungalows available in the area I needed to be in and the council wouldn’t help me even though I was a priority because they only give bungalows to over 55s, even if they’re fit and healthy! 😢 Seeing your dream become a reality for you is giving me a bit of hope that I don’t have to give up on mine just yet. Has Bob claimed herself a room yet? It’s what my career did! 😂 (I have a similar relationship with my carer as you do Bob, just more like an awesome human being to hang out with.😊) x❤x
Sadly I feel this. I’m having this exact fight now. I have FND and have been paralysed for a few years along with having seizures. I’ve applied to many fully accessible bungalows and either get denied, or get told I can’t apply because I’m under 55, the system is so messed up. SO SO wrong. It’s basically saying you have to be 55+ to be disabled!! I got moved to a bungalow, and I was told all of the work to make it accessible would be able to be done and now my OT has came out and explained everything that needed doing and my housing association are now saying it’s too much money and they might have to move me again. When they could’ve just let me apply for a fully accessible bungalow and accepted me so I’m so angry!! Can’t even get out of my house because there’s no ramps. It’s ridiculous… I wish I had the funds to buy, but the market is just so ridiculous right now! All the best x
Amy Huge Congratulations 🍾💐. So incredibly well deserved! The windows remind me of the living space in our rental home after ours flooded. Enjoy every moment!!
Be amazing for you finally to have your own space and have family and friends round and a space to call your own after all those years in hospitals and rehabs ❤
I’m so happy for you Amy I’ve watched you from the beginning and I can see how hard you have worked to get to this point ajd I’m so proud my favorite part is your room and live room and the windows once it’s more accessible it will be amazing proud of you bestie love your videos xxx ❤️❤️
Congrats ! 👏 you made it 🎊I also purchased mine last months paid in cash. While watching this video I feel very proud of who I am and what I've accomplished. I'm glad I made a wise financial choice that changed me.
Congratulations! I'm motivated, and I'm also saving up to buy a house, so this means a lot to me right now. Would you mind sharing some advice on how to increase my income?
@@dabriga7 Here are some tips that helped me. 1. Plan towards it 2. Be frugal and minimal on spending (don't buywhy you don't need ) 3. Save money towards retirement (Roth IRA/401k) 4. Build an emergency fund 5. Save to invest, this is the most important because it's a proven way to get richer. Very important to financial success.
The light in your house is amazing! I would suggest screen doors out to the garden. Not sure what the bug situation is during the summer but I don’t imagine you want to be chasing mosquitos in the middle of the night.
Oh Amy! It's absolutely beautiful! Those windows are amazing! I hope you can get the renovations done soon. So happy for you! Let the new chapter begin!
@Amy Pohl You can get made to measure blinds that can be powered remotely (either by a remote control or a button by your bed) so you can completely block out any external light!
Amazing video Amy❤️ just a wee idea I thought maybe you could get decking raised out from your bedroom doors with a bit you could sit and chill on which would be pretty then a wee decking ramp off onto the grass? Super proud of you being younger than me doing all this ❤
I am so jealous of that tub!!!!! Mine is shallow and I haven't had a proper bath in years. I miss soaking!! hahaha I love the kitchen color, and I love love love how light & bright it feels.
Fabric on the walls, maybe like stretched over a canvas with foam inside would be a good way to reduce echo but also look stylish, you can buy stuff for sound dampening like that but I see you've got a crafty side so maybe a bit of DIY would be fun?
This house is really spacious even by American standards ,so I can’t imagine that it was cheap . It is amazing what you can afford when you don’t have to pay much for health insurance and simple things just to live . The UK 🇬🇧 is definitely a great place for beautifully talented people like you . Enjoy your house and make splendid memories.
Absolutely love it !!! It’s like a mansion never mind a bungalow especially with the quarters 🤣 . Me and my cat cosmo are waiting for an invite 🥰🤣 . So happy for you lovely xxx
We have a really narrow hallway too and my electric chair just fits in it. I can’t turn round in the hall so I have to go in one of the rooms and turn round to go the other way. Your house is lovely. Enjoy it. 😊
You can get custom blinds made for the high windows or get them tinted with film ,also have a think about getting your lights on a smart app so much easier than switches
Hi Amy, so happy for you. When my grandpa became disabled, someone (idk who) built him wooden ramps to get in and out of doorways. These were so handy as they were built to fit. Maybe some automatic blinds can cover the windows in your bedroom, again built to fit custom. Wishing you well on this next journey in your life :))
Congratulations! What a great kitchen & living room space! Very handy buying the bits from the previous owner, they all look in good condition and fit the rooms well which is the problem with choosing furniture it can easily be too big or too small. Once you get a bed and soft furnishings in your bedroom it will absorb the echo. Speak to Grand Design Blinds about your shaped window as that's exactly what they specialise in. In the longer term if you refit the guest bathroom (omg that bath is insanely large) I'd remove the bidet, bring the toilet & sink forward to square the room off & claim that space in the kitchen diner behind or make it a cupboard from the dining area for the hoover etc as the bathroom doesn't need to be that big.
Also the painted stones are probably from lockdown as it turned into a nationwide if not international thing where they got hidden all over for people to come across when out walking & they could take it home, leave it, replace.with a different one or rehide it elsewhere, so if you get out in your chair to explore the area a little you could always take a few with you and rehide them out in the wild if you don't want to keep them
Where I live in America people use their a garages as storage. And only double car garages are used for cars, mostly in the winter to keep the car out of the snow.
Here in Southern CA, the zoning requires a LOT of garage space. In spite of this, almost nobody uses the garages for cars. That's less true in the East because they have basements for storing stuff. In CA there are very few basements, maybe because of Earthquake codes. Congrats on your beautiful new home! It's so lovely!
The south USA sucks, most houses don’t have basements nor garages… half don’t have driveways and we must park on the street. Mine has none of the above! It’s 2 bedrooms, a kitchen, and a tiny bathroom for 100,000
Jeez! How did you endup with a house with such thin doorways?! For the rooms in your "quarters" (lol) are you going to keep the doors or take them off entirely? Idk how much of a budget you have but I would also suggest widening the garden path and if possible the hallway. Since its hard for you to reach the clothes line, I would suggest getting a clothes drier. In the places where you take lower cabinetry out for acccessablitly, I would reccomend adding other storage within the kitchen or you'll end up without space to put things! Definitely invest in automatic blinds for your room. (and not showing the front of your house!)
I am so happy for you, amy your house is gorgeous i feel uiu need a fully acessible wherlchair hight kitchen 💖 if you watch gem from wheelsnoheels she had her kitchen done it may give you an ideas i feel your OT will be the best person to help and support you i wish u could afford to buy a home my current rented home needs adapting to fit my needs i need a ramp outside as i strugling to get in and out of my front door with my walker and wheelchair ❤ but we are having to fight the housing association
I love your new home , but you got a lot of work to be done, as from a wheelchair user I can see that you will have a lot to have done before you got to move in, I can’t see you moving in before Christmas, sorry if I sounded rude, but I know how long the ot take there take so long to do anything for us
She must have help from family cause I can’t imagine disability pay is enough to pay for a home purchase unless things are wildly different in the UK for disabled people.
@@leopriest133 I’m sorry to hear that. Disabled people where I live in America have it pretty rough too. People on ssi disability get around $1400 per month on average which is obviously not nearly enough to live on, even if you consider the subsidized housing and utilities some are able to get.
