  • Sometimes it can be really hard to tell if your lithops are thirsty, or just going through a life cycle where they wrinkle a bit. So here are a few tips on how to tell if your lithops are thirsty, and a good look at some Lithops Needing a good drink!

    Just found your channel after going crazy with these lithops I rescued from Walmart. They’re really wrinkly on the sides and I wasn’t sure if they needed water. Looks like they do after watching your video. Thank you!!!

    Hello, great video. Like it a lot. I have a little question. Yesterday i got through post little lithops clusters deliverd. Their color is pale and they are flat. As i see in this video because they look almost the same, they need a little bit of water. But here it is i don't know what to do. I want to repot them in another soil. I've bought premium substrate and i want to repot them only in this without any organic soil, just the substrate, it looks quiet a lot like pumice. I hope the substrate alone is good for them, but then i wonder, do i need to water them or wait for a week or 2 weeks so the roots can adjust, or can i water them right away. Like all your video's . Learn a lot of them 😜🤩

    Hi Ashley, I just got my first Lithops and I live in the Caribbean. So it's September, 90's here and humid. The one I received was rooted and it's in growing new stage. Nothing around it. anyway I'm thinking of potting it in baby lava rocks with some peat moss and some perlite. I assume I just mist it and wait till it starts to look a little shriveled to water?

    Question, I do have a baby toe plant, And I notice that couple of the leaves are broken in the middle like something has eaten them but I never seen any snail or animal, I wonder if they can break and two if I will give too much water, I don't know if that is a possibility, what do you think!? Thank you In advance,

      Marie Gilbert will do! I'm new to the videoing thing, and am doing it all on my phone, and on your phone you can choose full screen no matter which way it was turned, and I didn't realize it's not best for most screens! Thank you for the comment, I will ABSOLUTELY turn horizontal for me next video! Thank you!!

      Ashley Glassman thanks for replying. I have been on the hunt for channels about growing lithops and there aren't that many so I came across yours. Appreciate the great videos. Yes horizontal by all means. When you try to make it fullscreen on an iPad it's just this tiny band in the middle of the screen. Keep up the good work.

      Marie Gilbert absolutely! That's the ONLY reason I started making videos is because when I first started I could hardly find ANY videos on lithops or mesembs in general! And I was SO disappointed, as I'm very visual learner and love seeing videos about plants of all types! So I figured since I've been at it a while now, I should start sharing, since I REALLY wished people would have a few years ago when I got interested!
      You might not guess, but I'm actually an introvert, and get VERY shy on camera, but thankfully I'm such a HUGE plant geek, that I'm able to talk more comfortably than I expected! I'm not an expert, but I have been an avid grower of many types of plants for the last 18 years, I'm an obsessive researcher, and have had good success the past few years with succulents and lithops, (or at least learn from my mistakes) and I am finding out what works well for me here in Idaho anyway! Your kind encouragement is SUCH a boost for me! I ALWAYS feel like I need to know MORE before I share. But I'm trying out sharing what I do know, and seeing who it helps! So glad it's being helpful, and I'll def switch camera position!

      I agree 100% there are tons of articles on watering them but do you ever notice that about 75% of them have the EXACT SAME WORDS? It's as if one person simply copied and pasted the watering and care instructions everywhere. And in other places the tips are completely contradictory. I have managed to kill two different split rocks following two sets of advice. And am on my third set of lithops. I need to "see" the plants, and how much water, and when to water. Would love to see how your lithops plump up after watering.

      @phileofarm1  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      princess Luna kusuma I will do that! I have many, so I'm sure a few will need water soon, and I'll take a quick video when I do! 😘. And don't feel bad, I think all of us have killed multiple lithops while learning! I know I certainly have! 💕. Takes a little bit to get the hang of these guys, and figure out their rhythms.
