That’s so sad because Jackson performed here in Brazil twice in 1993 and all the footage we have is terrible amateur footage, a 144p complete footage of Jam and a partial footage of WBSS.
A bit off topic: When MJ was performing, the focus was always on him and him alone. When I watch concerts from Taylor Swift for example, the focus is almost always on the dancers, the light show or the background of the stage, but Micheal had all eyes on himself, whichs makes his performances much better to enjoy for me personally.
Wembley 88 is the best one. Great video, band, vocals, dancing. My only issue is the weak VHS audio on it, if we got the multitrack masters for Wembley 88 or any other top tier Bad tour shows it would be massive
It’s very likely MJ didn’t have feedback turned when he had the playback turned on - why would he? Munich was fully multitracked with the intent of a full video release so it’s likely the voice track was just a consequence of that
I do agree about vocals although him singing underneath playback meant he couldnt hear himself which is why he sounds absolutely awful, with the angles though, I think the new 2022 cut of Billie Jean is really cool
I've always felt he put so much pure magic and mastery into the +120 Bad Tour performances that his body and vocal chords after those 16 months were like "ha... yeah we can't do that like THAT ever again, Mike."
Exactly my thoughts. That's why he said it "This is my last tour". In Dangerous, I think that he just wanna to sell more albums, compared to Thriller, and in the History, he just wanna to sell albums. Even if you compare Bad album to Dangerous, his voice sounds pretty different.
I saw that concert back in 1997. Now Michael did two shows in Munich. So sure he was probably tired. Michael was vocally tired on the show . But, be happy that he didn't cancel. Not easy singing those great recordings. He still showed up. It was my last time seeing Michael Live in concert . I saw him by the way on all his major tours BAD; DANGEROUS: AND HISTORY all in Europe.

Man I wish I June show was selected for an HD broadcast rather than Munich.

This show is overrated not because it's the worst, but because of the high quality; because of the super high quality, people always go back and watch it and recommend it to others; this show is neither the best or the worst; it's just an average show, and in terms of overall performance, it's nowhere near the best show in the HIStory tour, at least by MJ's standards. Bremen, Germany on May 31, 1997. The first show of the tour's second leg. It's the ONLY time he wore the red blazer to match the music video! From Cologne onward, he wore the blue jacket that you're probably familiar with. Not sure why Sir Jackson decided not to keep it... maybe someone else can fill that in.
@@SleepExports There are amateur recordings of Cologne (June 3, 1997), which is the show right after Bremen night 1, and he wears the blue jacket. So that's how we know it was only worn once. We actually don't have footage of the red blazer, only pictures, which is incredibly unfortunate.
I totally agree with your points made here, although I must be overly grateful for the multitracks released in 2022, those have helped me and others to discover many of the actual synths/instruments used on the tour and just made us get a better understanding of the music itself. For the singing under the playback, it is incredibly hard to sing well without an earpiece (which MJ didn't have= respect for), as it is so loud, that you can not hear yourself. So even without the laryngitis, it wouldn't be so good probably. When he sings live or does adlibs, he always hits the correct notes, as he can hear himself through the speakers. The estate has all the shows in HD with full multitracks, they will just not going to release them, cause they are bad people.
I didn’t watch this video was because I felt like it was going to be some type of hate towards him. Maybe the show is overrated but nothing about him is overrated.. he’s worked hard for everything he has made. that’s why people praise him so much and still love him today. ❤
And this is why you probably should've watched it. I make a comment during the first minute that completely shuts down the notion of "hate" towards Sir Jackson.
I think the Munich show is special because of the way it was recorded and because of the dance moves. The two Munich shows and the Leipzig show are the only shows (proven) recorded with HD cameras for a future release, which unfortunately hasn't happened yet. Still, I can't imagine another History Tour show being released, I think in this show Michael performs moves at appropriate moments for a release.
HD or not, I'm still baffled as to why ZDF used a random Leipzig shot. Did they lose the HD recording of that part for July 6th? I doubt it, because it's on the VHS. This cut still confuses me to this day...
i agree with u, we deserve to have much more shows in pro footage. and dont get me wrong i think we will in the future but i dont get whats the problem in leakin it now. the show i want the most to be leaked is the durban one since its the last from the HWT. we got the johannesburg one recently, i believe it was in 2017 or 2018 so theres no reason to believe new shows wont be leaked
Not a huge fan of the shows he did after the 80s cuz they’re majority playback. You wanna hear a great singer live. If i wanted dance moves and lip syncing I’d watch a milli vanilli concert lmao
You sound like you were not even alive when the concert took place or was being broadcasted worldwide. Any 'fan' that was, probably doesn't give two cents about your opinion. We all knew why MJ was forced to lipsync most of the songs and his dancing has never been better than during these concerts. As a 10 year old, I recorded it on new years eve 1997 and watched it over and over again for years till the tape broke down. And please stop calling him 'sir Jackson'... that shit is annoying.
The irony, you've somehow misunderstood him as being disrespectfully critical and pedantic. Whereas in fact he's respectfully critiquing and analysing. Hence the 'sir' despite it escaping you.
My biggest issue with the HWT is the camera angles. Especially the one where it's made to feel as though you are on the front row looking up at him. These could have been changed during the tour. The fact that they weren't suggests they thought it worked somehow. God knows!
why nobody speaks about the Dangerous problem? the song recycle the version of MTV 1995, and that's fine, if it didn't had the part of Smooth Criminal went that song had been played before, why they didn't useed the one from Argentina 1993? that one was more complete
@BenicioPuertas12 I agree with you! The original 1993 choreography of Dangerous (which was first done at the 1993 AMA) uses a lot more of the actual song and a bunch of moves that we would never see past 1995. I don't mind all of the interjections in the 1995 onward version, but I do wish that more of the song itself was kept in. My ideal Dangerous performance would actually be a mix of elements from the 1993, 1995, AND 1999 performances. But mostly 1993!
Well, I didn't criticize his age a single time during the course of the video. All of my points relate to the performance itself, and not external factors. Also, he wasn't 39 yet, his birthday was August 29th (he performed in Copenhagen that day).
exactly idk what these ppl are on abt. there are better shows yeah but saying its overrated??? hell no. they also forget he was 39 like u said, not 25 anymore
@@TrueJP13 wth are u on? whats the difference? its literally the same as being 39, one month makes no difference. ppl forget he was 38/39 durin the HWT not 28. and he didnt say u criticized his age (how could someone criticize ages 😭)
@@diogo_almeida_06 I wouldn't argue it's fair to just say, "he's older now, of course it's not as good". The HWT overall is inconsistent, but I'm actually a big fan of it, and when Sir Jackson is good, he's REALLY good. Some of the pro recordings from 1996 (Kuala Lumpur, Auckland, Brunei, etc.,) could even rival his shows from before the 1993 allegations. Plus, if the argument is that his age means all of his performances are lower in energy, then it would mean "This Is It" would've been especially low energy if it had happened. (Granted, he was treated HORRIBLY by the staff during rehearsals and I don't know how far he would have made it, but the point stands.) Sir Jackson at 38 years old in Kuala Lumpur could perform just as well as his 29-year-old counterpart in Tokyo, in 1987. That's how I view it, at least.
@ no no dont get me wrong. the HWT is my favorite and i think its exactly because of that, i like to see him perform as an older guy. and we can all agree that at 39 u supposed to not be in ur prime (and sometimes he made it look like he was). btw how do u think the TII would have been? anything similar to copenhagen 29 august 1997 (i think u get my point)? imo it would have been like late 1997 shows (not extremely energetic but very good) if he was to be in good form. he proly would struggle in some shows as he would be 50/51 so some performances could be like billie jean copenhagen (29 august). but i think its bs when ppl say he wasn’t healthy enough for it
People just popularised that show and he has much better shows than that but people are ignorant and just ignore most of his work, just watch an Auckland show or a kuala lumpur show
Pretty much Munich July 4 and 6 were shit , didn’t do the toe stand in Billie Jean , along with that is Bucharest 1992 absolutely boring show only reason people watch it is for the Drums and the cool camera shots
nah July 4th isn't even close to being shit, like the dancing is fire on that show even if it's slower than July 6th, which is already slow, but July 4th has pretty wild and unique movement at times
That's exactly what I was proving, that he would sing live behind playback in every single show he ever did. If you listen to the amateur recording of September 10th, while very difficult to decipher, you can barely hear Sir Jackson's live voice under the backing track.
I was introduced with the 30th anniversary concert back in 2012. Same problems. Highly edited, 2 nights mashed together, bad angles and an overal bad performance of Michael. Now being a fan for over 10 years I know the shit the estate pulled like fake vocals on the michael album. But im suprised they only released 2 concerts of him (With their own host of problems) when it seems like they only really care about the money.
No one saw the dvd market dieing due to streaming. They planned to slowly release many more things after his death. If they'd known what they do now, then they'd have released way more when they could in the early 10s. Now, it's not profitable for them to do so.
13:10 Look i get what you're saying but this is just wrong. Both shows tried having a unique variety of different shots that also showcases the crowd and other stuff. Doesn't mean its absolutely terrible lol. I think at certain points the execustion could've been better but all round it's just not as bad as you may think but that's my take on your opinion.

@@for-house-stark the instrumentation is the only average thing about it, it's absolute banging like how it always does in 1997 (speaking of the original instrumentation, not the broadcast, which is also banging but the original is way better), but the vocals are awful, especially for 1997 as 1997 has amazing vocals usually, and the dancing is weaker than usual too, it's slower and heavier, the quality is only good on the broadcast, the real version of this show, the unedited version, is low quality. And please don't tell me you glaze Wembley 1988 too, that one's so mid, like the vocals are actually ass there, the dancing is ok though, not a bad show visually, Yokohama is ass visually and audiably, and the insturmentation there is worse than ass, why couldn't it sound like Brisbane (I love Brisbane 1987). I agree! Munich is one of the worse shows of the history tour, he’s just not with it! He even seems oddly overweight. He’s not his usual slick self! I also don’t like how the show was filmed, it lacks dynamics, cameras are too still and the venue is over lit! Also, unfortunately, he’s high most of the time during the history tour 😕
Ok soo.. with the leaked "bad" vocals... you need to understand that the artist knows that the audience is not hearing the signal that is being sung live. So in that case.. why actually try to sing?? You can't sit here and assume that he was actually putting in the effort to really control those notes... for what?. The audience doesn't hear it... he's gonna kinda just sing enough to express passion and show off the energy visually. To judge his singing abilities based on the leaked audios is just ignorant...
@@TrueJP13hmm idk.. seems like you coulda been more clear when it comes to justifying the leaked audios. Also a diehard fan here. I dam near get triggered when someone is criticizing him.
nah Michael didnt try, he just did it for the lip movements. when his mic was actually put out to the audience like with the jackson 5 songs - he sounded better.
MJ was considering retiring after the BAD world tour. He should have. He should have stuck to studio work, maybe have the occasional live performance to support it or for charity, super bowl, etc... put time into business and self care. He should have stopped after Dangerous. Ehh...

He did the toe stand in a squat and hung completely off the cherry picker in that concert.
those things are not exclusive to Munich 1997 just so you know
In my opinion, The LA Bad tour, Wembley Bad tour, Japan Bad tour whole Dangerous tour and the royal concert was great and some parts of history tour.
14:52 ZDF was rlly into that glizzy
The best Billie Jean ad-libs are from Kuala Lumpur 1996 First Night
9:59 I know he was sick but the way he says this is so adorable
hyper-specific videos about Michael Jackson are my favourite. Would love more of these
I totally agree with your points made here, although I must be overly grateful for the multitracks released in 2022, those have helped me and others to discover many of the actual synths/instruments used on the tour and just made us get a better understanding of the music itself.
The estate has all the shows in HD with full multitracks, they will just not going to release them, cause they are bad people.
ngl I would love to see you talk about the other two tours he did.
this video's fun
Very entertaining video! And finally a video that points this out 😭
really good points made, you've earned a new subscriber!
MAKE MORE MJ CONTENTTT, i love this vid so much and got kinda dissapointed that u dont have other mj vids😭
Agreed I never understood why the technical director would cut away from Sir Jackson to show us some bozo in the crowd, we only want to see the KING
Leipzig wasn't recorded in native HD it was recorded in SD like every other show of the tour
HD or not, I'm still baffled as to why ZDF used a random Leipzig shot. Did they lose the HD recording of that part for July 6th? I doubt it, because it's on the VHS. This cut still confuses me to this day...
@@TrueJP13 Michael's team made the cut iirc but idk why they used Leipzig
@@Wardell_ione What's, "S.D."? Sorry...maybe I know?

i agree with u, we deserve to have much more shows in pro footage. and dont get me wrong i think we will in the future but i dont get whats the problem in leakin it now. the show i want the most to be leaked is the durban one since its the last from the HWT. we got the johannesburg one recently, i believe it was in 2017 or 2018 so theres no reason to believe new shows wont be leaked
His best tour is "bad"
By the way . they cut both of the shows which he performed in Munich. I saw that when this aired back in 97.
I'm NOT going to LIE, his vocal performance in this tour was off but this is the tour I watch the MOST
Not a huge fan of the shows he did after the 80s cuz they’re majority playback. You wanna hear a great singer live. If i wanted dance moves and lip syncing I’d watch a milli vanilli concert lmao
This is a PHENOMENALLY done video. I quite enjoyed it, keep up the good work. Would love to see your pro footage wish list, haha.
June 1997 show was the peak of HWT👍
HD upscale every live video sell as a bundle for $320
My biggest issue with the HWT is the camera angles. Especially the one where it's made to feel as though you are on the front row looking up at him.
These could have been changed during the tour. The fact that they weren't suggests they thought it worked somehow. God knows!
that was the best camera angles of all ohter tours
@uBrninn You think HIStory had better angles than other tours? 🫢
why nobody speaks about the Dangerous problem? the song recycle the version of MTV 1995, and that's fine, if it didn't had the part of Smooth Criminal went that song had been played before, why they didn't useed the one from Argentina 1993? that one was more complete
His bad tour was 100 times better
That shouldn't discount his later tours
For sureee it's his best so fire in all aspects 🔥🔥
n
I like this guy... Goofy at the end, yes... But even Goofy got his own movie 😅
Please do a defence or criticise of Bucharest 1992
Drop pro footage wish List video💯🔥
I think this was...and perhaps by accident...a popular...perhaps the most and or heaviest...bootleg from the late 1990's on video tape.
Munich 1997 is not overrated I watched the whole show on TH-cam and it was great just because he was 39 years old doesn’t mean it was bad
(Granted, he was treated HORRIBLY by the staff during rehearsals and I don't know how far he would have made it, but the point stands.)
Sir Jackson at 38 years old in Kuala Lumpur could perform just as well as his 29-year-old counterpart in Tokyo, in 1987. That's how I view it, at least.
@ no no dont get me wrong. the HWT is my favorite and i think its exactly because of that, i like to see him perform as an older guy. and we can all agree that at 39 u supposed to not be in ur prime (and sometimes he made it look like he was). btw how do u think the TII would have been? anything similar to copenhagen 29 august 1997 (i think u get my point)? imo it would have been like late 1997 shows (not extremely energetic but very good) if he was to be in good form. he proly would struggle in some shows as he would be 50/51 so some performances could be like billie jean copenhagen (29 august). but i think its bs when ppl say he wasn’t healthy enough for it
can you do the 30th anniversary next i love mj but that concert was a mess and heavily edited
This is great dude! Keep it up!
Finally Masterpiece Video About Michael jackson ❤
People just popularised that show and he has much better shows than that but people are ignorant and just ignore most of his work, just watch an Auckland show or a kuala lumpur show
Wasn't he unwell in Auckland?
@SleepExports it was still a great performance
Very well put video I really enjoyed this. Finally someone brave enough to speak the truth✨️🤍
Now I wouldn't say Munich is Overrated, its still a great concert. But there's are concerts from HIStory Tour I kinda prefer more.
Pretty much Munich July 4 and 6 were shit , didn’t do the toe stand in Billie Jean , along with that is Bucharest 1992 absolutely boring show only reason people watch it is for the Drums and the cool camera shots
Both were good in their own ways they have their own highlights too 4th being the highlight vocals downside is being slow 6th being the opposite
nah July 4th isn't even close to being shit, like the dancing is fire on that show even if it's slower than July 6th, which is already slow, but July 4th has pretty wild and unique movement at times
9:40 30th anniversary proves nothing. he was actually singing live over the playback in that show, its not like it was a leaked mic feed
That's exactly what I was proving, that he would sing live behind playback in every single show he ever did. If you listen to the amateur recording of September 10th, while very difficult to decipher, you can barely hear Sir Jackson's live voice under the backing track.
Thank you !!!!!
Not live but "Ghosts" is THE BEST~~
Billie Jean Adlibs are the best! As you said Gottenburg is a super BJ version. Billie Jean Oh Lords are always super as well.
0:26 Thats so real
I've seen many fans complain that there are better shows than munich. But I don't agree. I love this show. I've seen other history tour shows, but I always come back to this one
probably because of the quality, but objectively speaking there are much better shows than Munich from the HIStory Tour, I really like this show too but it's definitely below HIStory Tour average
@@M7keSonic I don't consider it average at all. What is so average about it? His dancing? Vocals? The quality and presentation of this munich show blows my mind. I don't see it in other history tour shows. It's very theatrical
Also quality really doesn't affect the show itself, the show is still great but it sn't average, it's below average. Quality means nothing, Yokohama 1987 is like MJ's worst show and it's pretty high quality
@M7keSonic Yokohama is MJs worst show? Lol some of you fans are just insatiable. That incredibly energetic performance is his worst?? Some people even prefer it over his 1988 wembley performance. What else do yall want? You don't know what you're talking about sir
@@for-house-stark "incredibly energetic" sure bro, sure. A show from a period where there's minimal dancing that has even less dancing than usual for that period, and some weird ass nasal, southern US vocals that makes my hears bleed, everytime I listen to Yokohama I need to either head off to Tokyo 1987 or 1992 (Tokyo 1992 has such good Billie Jean vocals, the best honestly) to act like bleach to my hears. It just shows that you haven't watched enough concert footage to know what you or I'm talking about
Bro I'm a Michael jackson youtuber and this is good info

9:59 - "...lurkiing in the DOOOOOOOOORK!"
hahahahhaHAHAHHA
i agree with it
This video is filled with a ton of inaccuracies and misunderstandings, perhaps a little more research could have been in order?
Ok soo.. with the leaked "bad" vocals... you need to understand that the artist knows that the audience is not hearing the signal that is being sung live.
I... said that in the video.
@TrueJP13 you mind dropping the time stamp?
10:39
Also, a friendly reminder that this entire analysis is coming from a diehard fan. I love this sir's music and performances to bits.
That's a hot take.
hello
Shamooooan!
so cool
i don´t like this video
michael jackson is overrated*
MJ was considering retiring after the BAD world tour. He should have. He should have stuck to studio work, maybe have the occasional live performance to support it or for charity, super bowl, etc... put time into business and self care. He should have stopped after Dangerous. Ehh...
