Great video, and story as usual. Epidemic Sound is great. However for others not familiar with Epidemic I would like to clarify Russ statement of "use it however you want" in video. Be aware Epidemic Sound only supports use of clips on TH-cam, Instagram, Facebook, Twitch and Podcast platforms. The following is my understanding of Epidemic: If you have multiple channels on those platforms you can only post video content on the one channel you specify to Epidemic in your Epidemic account. Once your subscription ends you can not continue posting new videos containing Epidemic audio you downloaded during your free or paid subscription period. I imagine Epidemic has their audio files listed as copyrighted on those platforms. When their content is detected I think Epidemic/Platforms reviews the video post date and determines if the channel had valid license on the post date. If channel did have Epidemic license then no problem. If it did not then video/channel owner is subject to copywrite claim. More information about limitations of file use: : www.epidemicsound.com/blog/avoid-copyright-claims-music-epidemic-sound-2/
@@51Drones I may have had a different experience than you did. I found their music / sfx selection to be very good and I like their TOS better than Epidemic Sound.
@Marcus Glass Does that mean you can't change which channel (if you have more than one TH-cam channel for example) you "connect" to your Epidemic Sound subscription in the future? And what does connecting actually mean? Can you just provide an URL to your channel or do you have to login to your TH-cam account through the Epidemic Sound website?
I always knew audio makes up half a video, but seeing it demonstrated using this drone footage completely blew me away. Best of luck to everyone that's entered!!!
All the videos I have watched about editing and this is the FIRST one I found that discusses sound effects! It's such a simple idea and I completely overlooked it! Thank you Russ!
Amazing how much a difference it makes adding not just the music, but the sound effects. I'm off to watch your beginner videos, I'm new to this and it's a little overwhelming!
Once again, more good content from a man who gives you the feeling that you are having a conversation with a family member. You have excellent communication skills that put viewers at ease.
First of all, what an awesome thing to do for your Mom! My Dad always said that if you want to give a gift that people will really treasure, give them a memory. In my experience, he was right. Second, thanks for showing how the music and effects really punctuate the video images. And thanks for making videos like this; they are always so helpful.
Hi Russ, As a long time AV guy for school and Church i really appreciate your sharing Epidemic Sound. The filler sound effects really added a fuller experience.
The sound is what keeps me engaged on most videos. I really don't enjoy a lot of commentary unless it's about the area or specific history of the structures. I really enjoy a good subtle sound in the background of most videos with commentary though. Thanks for sharing once again.
Russ, I’ve added music to several videos I’ve made of my construction projects and the difference when compared to a “silent” video is night and day. Music adds a lot!
Music/Audio is the foundation of a video. A video without an audio is a tree without its root. Music just gives life, it gives emotion, it adds taste and color for the video to stand-out. And this is really important when you're a content creator, aside from making your video pleasing to the eye, it should also captures the ears and heart of the listener. By the way, the sounds added with the drone shot (nature & trees) are on point! It's cinematic and I feel emotional 🥺 Thank you.
You are so correct; adding a little music to any video makes a big impact. Next project, I plan on grabbing some ambient sound and mixing it with some music.
I completely agree. Audio makes all the difference, that’s why there is a full-time job for foley artists and audio engineers. Also, people could handle lower quality videos if audio is good, but it doesn’t really work the other way around. If the video is crispy and amazing, but the audio is poor, most people will not understand and usually will head out after a short time. Sound design most certainly makes all the difference.
As well known as it is, it is always useful to emphasize the importance of audio, and especially music, in creating an atmosphere. A video with the right atmosphere changes the mood of the viewer in a definitive way. Great video, thank you!
I soon as you explained your video topic and the reason for capturing the essence of nature, I was astonished to know that you dearly care for your mom as I do care for mine. A few minutes ago, I commented that if I win the DJI MAVIC MINI, I would record a memory from the sky with my parents in the picture so the can remember it for the rest of their days. This is terrific and inspirational to know you value your moms happy moment like everyone should. The sounds added to your video does touch the spirit of the season. Thx for sharing. I’ll look into Epidemic Sond
I always knew that music was super important, but adding the ambient sounds really does bring it to another level that someone might not even notice until it's pointed out. Fantastic content!
I really have been waiting for a drone like this since forever. Had it not been for this channel, I wouldn’t have had such an opportunity! I plan on filming a huge expanse of a forest on my vacation!
Sound can make or break a video I teach students. Sometimes it can take a few days to find the right one. Now going with a okay song, makes the whole project, just okay!!!!
I've watched some of your earlier video editing clips and they motivated me to try my own. I've completed a couple but haven't added any sound yet. Adding the background sounds made a HUGH difference and I'm definitely going to try it!
Only after starting to fly a drone and hear the raw footage did I really appreciate the sound editing. I'm not good at it, but I appreciate it when done well.
Ive not tried editing my videos yet, but I can see the importance of sound. Once I get efficient with my drone I will definitely start editing. Thanks for the great lessons, I've came a long way with your help.
I've seen a bunch of people adding post effects like sounds of nature to their flight footage recently, and I must admit, it really does add to the video more than music. It makes it much more immersive!
Not to be too girlie but that was so sweet that you did that for your mom so thoughtful. I have been thinking of creating a TH-cam channel for a while and when I get brave enough it’s nice to know about the different sound effects and music subscriptions that are available .
Russ, I watched the vid and was completely blown away with the difference between the origional vid and after you added the music and... what I was blown away with, was the sounds of nature. That made a good video (music) to an absolutely Awesome vid with the sounds of nature added. At this point, I don't have a clue about how to work your magic but you've made a believer out of me. I have downloaded this vid so I can reference the video editing software and the 30 day free trial of music. You made my day with this video. Thanks for sharing this. TJ
Definitely music and sound effects creates a richer and more enjoyable experience to watch. Thanks Russ for taking the time to always bring quality video and quality information. Fly safe
I really like the sound effects you added. Our travelog channel will focus on the Ozarks, so adding ambient sounds will make them that much better. Thanks!
Excellent video Russ! I completely agree that sound plays such an important role in creating a complete video that provides a fully immersive experience. If you look at the movie industry, that is why part of the production costs are dedicated to sound and why Foley artists are employed. It is the difference between just watching a video and actually "feeling" the video. Great tips Russ and keep up the excellent work that you do for the drone community.
I'm only new to drones (brought my Mavic air 2, 4 days ago) and never used any editing software before. Love your videos, very helpful and informative. Cheers from down Under Australia. 🤙🇦🇺
I have never tried to edit videos before on the computer, but I'm very interested now. It looks so intimidating, now after watching your videos with music and other sounds I want to give it a try. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Russ. I find that I typically start with music first and then envision some shots that will go with it. Music is just so powerful and helps me have a guide to follow and be creative off of. I’m not normally creative on my own so having that structure to follow helps me tremendously take my shots to the next level.
The sound absolutely improves the video. The AMBIENT sounds are what really gave it punch. I’ve been wanting to get a Mavic Air 2 for Christmas, but this Damnedemic gave me cause to help some folks fill their propane tanks that just couldn’t afford it. Priorities. That’s important. Others are having some tough times! Great Video though!

I used your tips on my latest video and I definitely made a difference. I was already using background music, but the sound effects add another level. I have also signed up for the 30-day free trial to see how I like the service. Thanks again.
This has a great ability to immerse the audience. I love how it makes you feel like you're slowly floating through the environment. It is definitely an entirely new dimension of the flight.
And the Oscar goes to... This line comes to my mind after watching that piece of art you've just created and have inspired many drone enthusiasts out there. Thank you for sharing such a valuable information! Keep up the good work!
Thanks Russ! Can’t wait to check out Epidemic and add some sound to my handful of content. I’m a fairly new drone enthusiast, and haven’t saved a bunch of footage yet. Still learning how to fly comfortably.
Russ, I thank you for giving back, to viewers like us, the powerful pieces that make or break video clips. You're right, adding audio and sound fx can be intimidating, but you make it easier to overcome. Peace/Out . . . FlyBoy K85

Great video is not about tech and gadgets. It’s about achieving the “story” you want to tell. That includes audio
I still have photos on a CompactFlash card from 2005 and an email from 2009 that I still need to reply to.

AND World Class! If you upgrade to the Studio version ($299), you get the NEW Speed Editor for FREE!
I am using Davinci Resolve on all of my videos. Check it out :)
Also the best choice for Color Grading. All major studios use it.
