Morris Minor van. Back in the late 60's ,early 70's I had an after school job delivering groceries. Part of the job was to drive a brand new Morris minor van ,one of the very last Morris minors made .Every Thursday i had to wash and polish it .😁😁.They are a very practical little car with plenty of parts and info support.
That looks a clean shell, that’s rare now even in the uk, just a shame it’s not on its original chassis it would be worth bringing to the uk, then rear doors are probably worth money .
It is a British Morris Minor 1000 as it does not have the early split windscreen. Originally they had nominally a 1000cc overhead valve 4-cylinder engine. The original front suspension torsion bars used to fail involving total collapse on one side. So the torsion bars are worth saving.
I remember those as being used by the Royal Mail (postal service) in the 1960s in England. They were painted red but didn't have windows in the rear sides
Hi, Silas, some early Morris Minor vans were made for the British Royal Mail & actually had rubber front wings ( you call them fenders ) that's right they were rubber ! how odd is that ! the rear side windows on yours have been added by someone. The threads / nuts/ bolts are not metric, they will be UNF / UNC or Whitworth.
Super video Salis loved it you are doing a great job thank you for sharing and your time was really great never miss a video and can't wait for next video thank you
Morris Minor drive train was mechanically same as MG Midget/Austin Healey Sprite. Unibody construction, these vans were very often used by the Royal Mail.
Great Video! Once you get the basics down with the little stove, you will find that you can make your lunch easily. Its a learning curve. Make a list of "stuff" you need to buy to make the cook out experience an easy, cheap and enjoyable endeavor.
That is a really rare vehicle. It's not only a Morris Minor van, it's a WINDOW VAN, which is almost unheard-of rare. UK postal vans had no windows and not even heaters, to save money and to keep Postie awake. All the vans and pickups had a separate chassis, unlike the sedans and convertibles. What a cool little vehicle! Don't believe all the blather about British Whitworth bolts. This is a late fifties vehicle, with a one-piece windscreen, and by that time the bolts were mostly UNF, which is the SAME as SAE, US-sizes. Hydraulic fittings and gas lines were still Whitworth (coarse thread) or BSF (British Standard Fine, not so coarse) on most British cars until later, but the British auto industry came up with UNF fasteners so US mechanics could work on the cars with standard tools. If you need Whitworth tools, we can help you as we sell those, but you won't need 'em for this car. Have fun with it! Geoff Rogers Rogers Motors Old British Car specialists since 1975
Silas, Think "Folding Pocket Knife" ... Actually having lunch with ya was kinda cool. Remember to bring a bottle of cooking oil to leave at the yard 🤭👍. And yes the Morris' is cool along with the rare Edelbrock.
Another great video and yes we are just along for the ride. What ever you want to do is fine with us we will sit back and watch and enjoy what ever you do.
100,000 Subscribers! Congratulations! I've watched you from your very first video! Proud of you sir! Your one of the only TH-cam channels that actually take the time to read the comments and even comment back. Take Care.
Silas, thanks for taking time to make these videos. I know it has got to be aggravating at times ,but I really like seeing all the old in you drag in and the oddball stuff you find.
Just found this channel, love old treasures. I have the sickness/ love of all the oldies. I think you're not that far from me. Saw you were at the Hutch swap. Hopefully I can check out some of your treasures.
The morris van took me back to the 60s. My neighbour Sid had one and would take me for expores around the countyside where i lived in Grassmoor , N/E Derbyshire. England. I remember him taking me to a small local dam , Flash dam, hunting for Lion eggs, now i would have been around 6yrs old. He took me into the reads and bent over saying to me, he found a Lion nest, and picked up an egg, showing me the egg it had the lion brand stamped onto the egg. 😂🤣 this was a quality branding for eggs back in the day. Sid passed on many years ago, but that memory still stays with me now im in my 60s. Thanks for bringing back this memory ,duck. Bless ya.👍🏴
You have one of the most unique channels on the YT... I watch a lot of barn find and revival channels as well as urban exploration content, you kind of touch on both....
Yep, my dad had a pickup back in the late 60's. Most folks upgrade from the original 850cc engine to the 1250cc MG Midget or Sprite engine and transmission. Actually a 1500-1800 MG engine and trans will fit and you can put the MG rear axle for better ratios, and front disc brakes from a Midget or Sprite. Neat little vehicles. I had four of them stored at a friend's place in Comfort, TX, and ended up giving them away a few years ago. I have the rusty sides and tailgate for a pickup in my garage. I was going to make it a trailer to pull behind my MGB. The UK postal vans came with rubber front fenders.
Most old Morris Minors, Mini's, Hillman's, and the like have the old Whitworth standard fasteners. As did Triumph, BSA, Norton, Vincent and other British bikes. I have a big roll cabinet toolbox full of British Whitworth standard tools. Because I own a Vincent, Pre-unit Triumph and a XKE Jag so I need them. Britian went to the metric system sometime in the 70's or 80's as I recall.
After his Armstrong- Siddeley car my father bought his first Morris Miner van in the 60's. My wife's first car was a Morris Miner when we were first courting also in the early 60's. Happy days. Lyndon.
I'm pretty sure from working on BSA and Triumph bikes back in the 60's that the Morris may use "British Standard Whitworth" hardware. That's the only wrenches that will fit .You can modify open end wrenches to fit. You may be able to source some BSW sockets and box-ends from England.
Heck yeah I’ll watch for what you do with it, love the looks of that body. Can’t wait to see you do something sweet with that one old 👍👍😎 mail truck super cool
That Morris is sweet!!! A suggestion would be to find the chassis for it then cut the firewall and floor out of the chassis donor vehicle then cut the firewall and floor to fit the Morris. Measure to see if the pedals and brake booster & master will fit. My suggestion is to use an automatic trans. I enjoy both of your channels.
👍👌👏 2) Uuuuh, very close to 100.000 subs now! That's exciting! 3) I absolutely fell in love with the Morris Minor van. Especially with the 4WD chassis. This combination would make a very useful, versatile unit if finished. Really good looking too of course. I hope that you will find a buyer for both Morris. 4) The cooking sequence was a nice change/surprise and definitely healthier for you than typical junk food! 👍👌👏Thanks a lot for making teaching explaining recording editing uploading and sharing. Best regards luck and health in particular.
Greetings from the UK Silas love the channel and everything you do. Being from the UK my favourite part was the moggy minor van hope you get it sorted out ❤
The Packard that is next to your Morris Minor and unfortunately, I love the Fraiser or Kaiser Frasier. Wish I had to money to put them back together and on the road. You might do a whole show on orphan cars in your yard.

I remember these all over the UK when I was a kid in the early 70s. They were exceptionally prone to rusting at an early age. Can’t remember the last time I saw one in UK to be honest. I’m looking forward to seeing what you decide to do with this one.
I love the Morris van, there is a guy in New Zealand who put one on a Suzuki Vitara/Sidekick chassis and drivetrain, I remember seeing it afew months back on TH-cam. It was the guys daily driver. The channel was hosted by Danny from Counting Cars.
There was a couple of these and a pickup on in a place i was working on in the mid 90s my freind used the pick up to burn off the stubble dragging a petrol soaked rag behind the pickup on the feilds they both where driveing vehicles there was a feild there with aprox 150 cars from the 30s to the 70s we got most of them going and used them as runabouts or we had a 5 acre feild as a banger track and left the wrecked cars as crash barriers as far as i know the morris vans and pickup are still driveable and are laid up in a barn ,love the latest episode silas 👍

Morris Minor van.....I had a couple of those back in the day. I spent a load of $$$$$ on my last one in body work, paint, 1275 cc MG engine, Datsun 5 speed transmission, totally custom interior. My wife and I drove it to our wedding reception. Sold it about a year later (1989 or 1990) to get down payment money for a house. I don't think the side windows are factory. The rear door windows are. Be interesting to see what you do with it.
When you were talking about the bolt sizes on the Morris mail van, they are not US standard or metric, they are British Standard Whitworth. Most just call it Whitworth. Morris Minors were sold in the US till 1967. All the mechanical parts are shared by most all BMC small cars, such as Austin Healy Sprite, MG Midget, Morris and others.
Silas the CST was for custom sport truck, side trim top and bottom tailgate insert wood grain look, had a pad up over your head, and they had small door panels, and they had the 70 to 72 Chevrolet hubcaps, I went with my mother to buy a Coppertone with white top 70
A great project. I like those off the wall vehicles. Some are so unusual to see, making them fun & interesting. Great video, by the way. Neat drone footage.
I remember those headlight surrounds from last months video. I wondered why someone would buy them without knowing what it was for. Excuse me, I'm a junkyard greenhorn. ✌️
Reminds me of a Morris minor panel truck but with a canvas top someone have me in the 80's. I had no way to move it at the time, so as you always say, away it went!

Chassis parts use BSFthreads, engine and trans use UNF threads.
The U.K. Police used them as well. First traffic offence I committed as an 18 year old I was stopped by a cop in one 😂

I would turn it into a gasser would look sweet
