How good Dan well I am a bass player more by ear than theory, I started with the bass by turning on a radio and followed the music that came out, thanks for your video
Soundin' good, Dan! Why did you say you made a mistake at 12:31? Was it because Db minor is the relative minor of Fb major? Fb major has a Bbb and we don't use double flats and double sharps in a key signature, right?
This is a serious point: don't worry if it is terrible! But... do allocate time most days to work on it. Literally just find a note or two and piece it together. Then use the tips in this video. If you never practice it you'll never get better. This is something worth working on!
Hey Dan, UK Hip Hop rules! One question: you started to improvise here th-cam.com/video/j2etM42vT1k/w-d-xo.html but I have no clue how this works? Is this the pentatonic scale on one of the 5 position? Thanks again, great stuff as usual!
@@OnlineBassCourses Hi, I meant at 11:54 after the gorillaz baseline. You do this a lot in other videos as well but as I said I have never understand why you go to this position and then up or down the neck and all fits perfectly. Hope this makes sense? I still believe that's one of the pentatonic positions but not sure. All the best!
@@asdfasdas1703 Yeah it really is as simple as the fact that it's one of the pentatonic shapes. There are 5 that go across the neck and you can use them for loads of things! Check out my minor pentatonic lesson which has a free PDF of the shapes for you to learn.th-cam.com/video/EwUoFt1kFm4/w-d-xo.html
@@OnlineBassCourses Hi Dan, I already have downloaded your absolute amazing bass book and learned so much including all the pentatonic shapes (but only in isolation). So basically you used (I think) the 3rd position, right? I will check this out... as I said in isolation these shapes are not that hard but to apply them in a musical context is another story ;-)
I'll do a video this week on how to apply the shapes. That should answer the question. I like thinking of the shapes in terms of how they fit to the key. Makes much more sense!

Dan's really the best one ive seen on TH-cam . His teaching has helped me so much and I have been playing Bass for years in working bands
I'm always impressed about how naturally you go in each lesson from simple concepts to way more advanced ones... Keep doing it! It's lovely 👍💪
Thanks very much!
Love this! Currently learning bass design for different hip hop songs, but designing bass is an art and its a lot of fun! Thank you for the video!
My pleasure. Have fun coming up with your bass lines!

Thanks! And yes you're right. It just makes so much more sense that it's C#minor.
Great lesson and I was thinking the other day how I would love it if you did a video on how to play lovely day 😂
Now you can work it out yourself!
Dan Hawkins - Online Bass Courses I would but my note recognition is terrible 😂

Me Dan what's the model Ibanez you use it?
Really love the round sound...
Thanks. 1982 Ibanez Roadster with DiMarzio DP126 pickups
@@OnlineBassCourses nice, tq again Mr Dan ...👍👍
@@OnlineBassCourses can I use this two things on my court bass guitar 4 string?
@@mmuhamadkhayoomsamsudinmmu1125 which two things? The pickups? Not sure what model your bass is. It’s a PJ configuration set.
@@OnlineBassCourses yes, i means the pickup
And my bass is pj 4 string
Dan is that a TLM-102? How do you like it? Tod in Vegas :)
Yes. I love it for recording double bass. It’s a good, affordable home microphone from a great brand.

Thanks! The bit at the beginning? That was over an E Mixolydian/E Major Pentatonic kind of thing...

U teach too fast 👎🏻
Sorry to hear that. Some people can’t keep up, for sure. You could always pause or rewind or play 0.75 speed. Or not. All good. 👍
